  1. second magnetfreezer here, you don't want to take your classic car over there, you'll bring home a classic pile of rust.
  2. Smokus, I'm not HC's, but I'm Rescue...in 04, my WG/CC was an HC Nav. https://www.af.mil/information/bios/bio.asp?bioID=8851 The job is Rescue...having said that, the majority of what they do downrange is MEDEVAC-related (patient transfers and the like). Occasionally a combat HAAR of the 60s will occur (I've been the recipient of one while on a msn). They may have also done some airdrops of medical supplies, but don't quote me on that. Community is in the midst of transitioning to the J, so I don't know exactly what the future holds in that community.
  3. are you married or single? Echo everything BP says above, the resort with the go karts is Big Time.
  4. My two faves: - Mildenhall (2 events): Twice, more than 30 officers gathered for legacy First Friday socials/meetings - Aviano (1 event): Energetically celebrated arrival and departure of PCS’g CGOs at off-base location
  5. it's worth it when you get home, and then you have an unlocked phone!
  6. mmmm, fresh and salty taste....
  7. ok, so what about a refi without the VA piece? I have a conventional mortgage through USAA (serviced by GMAC) right now. edit: spelin
  8. Kirtland owns one HC-130J, and it's been flying lines since at least Oct 11 (data point is when I HAAR'd with it in that month). 415 SOS. 88 TES at DM owns another HC-130J, and that J is augmenting at Kirtland with the 415th while the 79 RQS sends folks thru that transition pipeline. Come late summer that aircraft will be back at DM.
  9. DM has a chiropractor here in the clinic, and he's worth his weight in gold. I see him every 2 weeks...no idea if he's only available for mil, but I've never seen a non-mil member there.
  10. from memory, hope I get it close... We toast our faitful comrades, now fallen from the sky Who were gently caught by God's own hands, to be with him on high To dwell among the soaring clouds they knew so well before From dawk patrol to victory roll at heaven's very door And as we fly among them there, we're sure to hear their plea Take care my friend, watch your six, and do one more roll, just for me.
  11. I'm still waiting for DFAS to unfuck my CZTE and TSP contributions for Dec...Finance decided they'd give me CZTE for Jan/Feb 12 instead of Dec 11/Jan 12, and since I had already maxed out my deferred TSP for the year on my Oct LES (hit the 16.5K limit), no TSP was contributed in Dec. But since I was in a combat zone, and should have received CZTE, TSP contributions should have been made in the exempt area. So my W-2 Box 1 is reading 11k higher than it should right now. Finance opened a CMS case, but it's been more than 3-5 business days and no word yet from DFAS, and no W-2C posted to MyPay. I hate Finance.
  12. Ask a bud at Cannon if they can get you what you need...
  13. I'll mention this to the static display POC and see what the magic 8 ball sez next... ;) Assuming you will be in the T-38A, look me up when you get here!
  14. our AFE shop has a drawer full of them (well, they used to, but since we all use them, they're all installed on our battery packs). Anywhoo, the takaway for you is that it's a kit that AFE needs to acquire, so talk to them. Also check their stash of battery packs, they may already be installed on a spare set hiding in a drawer. BTW, the bags are not authorized, only the screw-in battery pack-conformal weights are.
  15. that pic is titled "IMAX filming over Tahoe" so does that mean the Shithook is attempting to re-inact the fateful SH-60 dip in the water?
  16. not really. It's a dry weekend for us.
  17. the ORI isn't stopping the 563 RQG from MM. We've just had to wear reflective belts for the last 2 weeks.
  18. that's what tail stingers are for!
  19. the entire avionics package, to include Q-29 FLIR, SADL, MATT, radios, TACAN, INS/GPS/DOPPLER + CDU (Nav system), EFQI, remove ESSS and HF, install refueling probe and internal aux tanks (and their associated plumbing), defensive systems (EGMS, RWR, MWS), rescue hoist (we don't mount ours to the ESSS)... Do your Limas have full-up 701Ds including the beefed up XMSN? Wide chord blades? Those are further differences that would have to be accounted for or de-modded. Even if these Limas were given to one unit so that only that unit had to deal with the differences ops- and mx-wise (assuming no de-mod), in the long run it would be hard, as all the units share aircraft to even out the UTE rates. We've borrowed A/C from the Guard/Reserve in the near-recent past at home and downrange and I don't see that ending anytime soon. Realistically what I see happening is a complete gut down to the 308 beam and then a rebuild as a carbon copy of a G.
  20. and you can now choose the sweet gold rims.
  21. but it's a different setup that the rest of the probes in our community, and now there would be issues with MX dissimilarity...
  22. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/03/air-force-budget-cuts-stall-plan-replace-helo-030412/#.T1SqB_1jCw0.facebook last two paragraphs...the company that manufactured our refueling probe went out of business and at least at my base we're short a probe now (we mitigate that by removing the probe of the bird going into phase and slapping it on the bird coming out of phase); how do they expect to turn a Lima into a Golf and have compatible components? I can see this being a MX nightmare...
  23. Huggy, tried to PM you but it didn't work...The slides yesterday had a big red block next to the U-2, according to the Air Ops and Static Display POCs they said it was a no-go...no idea where that is coming from. I'll come drink with you guys any time!
  24. why'd the U-2 cancel out of the DM Open House? Weak.
  25. He's my squadron's Honorary CC right now (has been for the last 18 months at least)...he's the head coach for the U of A Rugby team, on the board of the DM 50, and the announcer for the U of A football team, among other things. Needless to say well known around Tucson.
