  1. and any SE person can access the message in AFSAS, so find your SQ-level FSO for that hookup. What matmacwc said about Tab access.
  2. I read the SIB final message...wow.
  3. dmeg - sorry, I give myself a facepalm...it was a long day, and I work just down the flightline from the 71 ERQS currently.
  4. first of all, many of the helo dudes at your base deploy. They take the brunt of the CAFTT 365s to Iraq and Afghanistan. Second, the HH-60 PAVE HAWK (not a Blackhawk - Army flies those) is the ONLY airframe in the entire DoD specifically tasked with CSAR/PR. So you sure as hell better know these things. BREAK BREAK Third, what was the answer about the OEI stuff? I know this has been argued in our community for many years...
  5. heard today, while sitting in the FARP... Helicopter coming in to land on the runway, requests to exit at Taxiway Charlie. Brit TWR: "Cleared to land RWY at Charlie" about 15 seconds go by Brit TWR: "XXX, as impressive as that was, you've just missed Charlie" Helo: "Uh, I meant Delta" Brit TWR: (Laughing in the background) "Roger, exit Delta"
  6. xerox here on the mem errors. Warning: mysqli_query() [function.mysqli-query]: (HY000/2008): MySQL client ran out of memory in /home/flyingsq/public_html/forums/ips_kernel/classDbMysqliClient.php on line 222
  7. I'm guessing it went "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....cushion cushion cushion"
  8. Here's a toast...
  9. also, Callsigns have to be approved by the FSDO. They want to make sure there is geographic separation between the same callsign/number, etc.
  10. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 11z. It's bigger than the mini (11.6 vs 10.1), but very light, and travels well. Doesn't weigh a brick, which is important to me. Only thing it doesn't have is an optical drive, but you can get a cheap external for that. I have encountered very few occasions when I've needed an optical drivel, tho...
  11. Capt David Wisniewski's memorial service is tomorrow at 0800, over at the 66 RQS, if you care to attend.
  12. Dave Wisniewski, the pilot, passed away this evening. Here's a toast... https://wisniewskiblog.blogspot.com/
  13. avoid Ozark, definitely live in Enterprise or Daleville.
  14. chuckster, if you don't get any replies, let me know, and I can try to track down some contact info for you.
  15. 1. off base, out Gate 1 in Mihama, Sunabe, Minato areas 2. Skype or Vonage works like a champ 3. I've seen cruiser bikes on the roads, though not many. Know that being an island, lots of salt in the air = corrosion to your bike if you're not careful. Also, you'll have to take the local conditions course give by the MSF (PACAF requirement) prior to riding. And I THINK, but not 100% sure, that to JCI your bike you have to ship it to mainland Japan.
  16. orders will say 2 per person (up to 70 lbs each), but check the airline baggage policy; many airlines will allow military travelling on orders up to 3 large bags per without incurring extra fees. If you take the rotator (Patriot Express), it's 2 bags per.

  19. the way I read that article, reservists will replace AD folks as they PCS out of that unit.
  20. thanks!
  21. ok, so I've been wearing contacts since 1994. Soft lenses the whole time (Surevue, Acuvue 2)...I've work Acuvue 2 disposable lenses since they came out in '99. This past Thurs I had my annual CLP exam, and the optometrist recommended Acuvue Oasys for me due to being a better breathing lense. I wore a trial pair for 2 days when my right eye started freaking out, itchy, scratchy, dry, and then after I took the lenses out and slept overnight crusty and a nice chunk of eye "sleep". I did some research this weekend and there seem to be lots of folks out there who have had issues with the Oasys and other silicone-based lenses. Is it worth it for me to get a trial pair of the Acuvue Advance, or just stick with the tried and true Acuvue 2?
  22. for determining line numbers for Major's Boards, etc, it's all date of rank based. Then there are tie-breakers (for Zoo grads, class rank at graduation is something like tiebreaker #5). Then it's birthday (whose is earlier), and I shit you not the last tiebreaker is SSN backward, whoever has the lowest number. There's a knowledge document spelling out exactly how line numbers are determined on the AFPC website (which I can't access from home). https://gum.afpc.randolph.af.mil/cgi-bin/askafpc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4384&p_created=1119799032&p_sid=*BitZz*j&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=13634&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NSw1JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1ob3cgaXMgeW91ciBsaW5lIG51bWJlciBkZXRlcm1pbmVkPw**&p_li=&p_topview=1&rstr_flag=1 edit to add the link for those who can access from a .mil computer "Determining Officer Promotion Line Numbers"
  23. I'm sure there are many folks whose blood boils without being at FL630. I just wouldn't want to be one of them.
