  1. I also had a great experience 2 years ago with Amy at NBKC. No hiccups at all moving to Utah.
  2. I'm sure the entire Fighter/Bomber Directorate is being told to evaluate it. I can't speak to trainers, but yes, that reasoning would make sense, since the MAF pilots would theoretically PCS in without bags.
  3. I can report that it's being evaluated for airworthiness in at least one ejection seat MDS.
  4. Dothan is the biggest town in the area, but it's a half hour away. Most folks live in Enterprise. I've lived in both Ozark and Enterprise, and would put Enterprise above any other nearby surrounding towns.
  5. according to this article, all their remaining Block 15s are MLU (except for the Jordanian once they recently acquired). https://www.f-16.net/f-16_users_article14.html
  6. what defines a "certified" sim? Certified in the eyes of the FAA? Level D only? ? ? ? In my MDS, our sims were not Level D, not certified by the FAA, even though two of the three have motion.
  7. vis only down to 1/4 mi here. cough...cough...
  8. typically, you'll stay in a flying gig until you hit your gate months. Then it's a crap shoot.
  9. 60s are at Moody, Nellis, DM, Kadena, Aviano, and Kirtland (Kirtland being the schoolhouse). ANG opportinuties in CA, AK, NM, and NY. AFRES opportunities at DM and Patrick. DM = Davis-Monthan AFB. SOS (Squadron Officers School) is for Capts. ACSC (Air Command and Staff College) is for Majs. AWC (Air War College) is for LtCols. They are either accomplished via corresponence, or at Maxwell (and there are some joint opportunities).
  10. I think you're mis-reading. He's talking about the companion/adversary jets at certain bases (T-38As). U-2, B-2, and F-22 bases all have these aircraft for different functions (I think it's companion for U-2/B-2 and adversary for F-22).
  11. At least, within 3500 ft... Too soon?
  12. We were in AFSOC before. Sort of. The reason we left was because of the CSAR-X shit hook debacle, essentially Gen Brown tried to hijack us and drive the selection to the shit hook. COMACC saw the writing on the wall and yanked us back to ACC. But, the 55 SOS existed in AFSOC ok.
  13. Wow. Damn.
  14. @17D_guy, since AMRDEC just bit it, are there any AF solutions out there which can be leveraged to share large files across to users around the world securely? Also, someone needs to un-fuck the PII tool so that it doesn't think attached emails have SSNs in them! It also keys on aircraft part numbers with long strings of alpha-numeric characters. When the tool runs, there needs to be a way for us to tell said tool that no, those part numbers are NOT PII. This is a huge issue now that AMRDEC is down and may never come back up.
  15. I think this is going to end up being a poor decision on USAF's part. There was an opportunity to leverage supply lines, training, and the ability to shift aircrew between peacetime and wartime missions, but no, had to go with an airframe no one in the US mil has... Seems like the Us could have filled the niche nicely, already having gone through a shakedown over the last several years with the unit that has them.
  16. I haven't had this yet because Hill hasn't migrated yet to the new cloud thing. But, when I had this issue last year after getting my new Win 10 machine (invalid certificate, no more choice to continue to the website anyway), Edge worked like a champ. So, try Edge if you haven't. Way better than IE for 90% of the things I need a browser for.
  17. sounds like a HIPAA violation - did you give someone permission to view your kids' medical records? Especially after you answered in the negative on the screener, they would have no "need to know" justification to review the records. I would fight it.
  18. Marty, how are 30 yr and 15 yr refi rates looking right now on VA loans?
  19. good on em. wear the flag on the right sleeve will be...odd... I'm sure a lot of the uninformed public will wonder why the flag is "backward". Also, coyote tan boots will look ridiculous with the green flight suit. Hope they bring back black boots...
  20. You'd think there'd be some sort of failure indication in the cockpit (aural/light) in the case of engine failure...
  21. pretty sure there's still a rule that you can't bring a car to Japan unless it was built in 1976 or earlier (though the cutoff year might have changed)...
  22. Hi. I am that civilian. Diligently polishing the turd... You'd be surprised regarding paper checklists. When ACC sees the bill for this year's checklist revision for each of the 4 groups of F-16 pubs, they are going to want to get rid of paper as soon as each unit gets their EFBs up and running (which, I guess whatever is going on with Acronis needs to get resolved first). I expect I'll get buy-in from the MAJCOMs to start slashing paper ID from ETIMS for checklists, and then, once all users have their EFBS, I can rescind the paper. I'm hoping that day isn't more than 2 years in the future,
