  1. Getting this thread back on topic.... KEND had an international PCS from KCBM in order to do T-38's due to all the delays they are dealing with down there.
  2. END 17-14 Track 8 AD T-38's 2 INTL T-38's 1 Helo 10 T-1's
  3. Thanks for the answer Marty! Expect to hear from me as I get closer to PCSing!
  4. What's the current syllabus looking like for CSO's at IFT now days? Back when I went thru the CSO's had something like a 10-12 ride syllabus where the focus was on clock to map to ground type flying. Is still like that or has it changed up?
  5. There's also capabilities to do exchange tours as well. Buddy of mine is an F-15E WSO by trade currently flying with the Navy in the EA-18G. So definitely lots of neat opportunities out there. Also just saw they have Instructor WSO slots at IFF now (only saw one at KRND last time I looked).
  6. Wouldn't worry too much about it. Had one a few years back, not sure what I did to it but it went away and haven't seen it in several years. As for it affecting your pilot status, it shouldn't be an issue at all.
  7. Getting ready to PCS and have a question regarding my VA loan. I am considering holding onto my current home and using it as a rental when I PCS and then buying another house at my new location. My question is this, I used the $0 benefit of my VA loan to purchase my current home (roughly $150k), and am wondering if I can still use the $0 down on my next home. From what I have read the loan goes up to $430k before a % down is required. Therefore $430k-150k=$280k remaining before I have to start putting money down. Is this correct?
  8. Yea they finished last year around this time. To my memory the 38 bubbas have only used it occassionally. Last weekend I heard they opened Vance up fully to support a full day of flying. Out of curiosity, how is DLF washing people forward? Weren't they several weeks behind recently due to MX issues and other stuff? Not throwing spears, just curious.
  9. Vance, current class has 14 in the flight. I know most of the other flights in the squadron are running at about 14 or so as well.
  10. On the T-6 side we're seeing 14-15 per flight (28-30 per class) and are being told that that number is going to keep going up.
  11. Question on the Viper syllabus (beyond the MX discussion, seemed like the most appropriate place to ask). Is everyone on the 6 month syllabus now? Also what are the differences between the 6 and 9 month syllabus, i.e. what got cut out?
  12. As a current IP at Vance I'll be honest, MX with contractors is completely hit or miss. We have crew chiefs who are worth their weight in gold and then some but we also have people who were former greeters at Wal-Mart working on our jets. So you get a mixed bag of experience. Point in case I had an issue on my jet one day (engine out of RPM limits) and turned it back to maintenance, crew chief and supervisor both were surprised when I informed them of said issue, then I was surprised when both of them admitted that they didn't know the engine had RPM limits. Additionally we constantly run into an issue where the contractor keeps cutting people which leads to 6-9 of us just sitting in the chocks waiting to start until the crew chiefs can get to us because they're that badly undermanned. Finally contract MX sucks when it comes to non-standard issues. Example, we had a jet land at our aux field and shut down on the runway. Long story short they wouldn't let the fire department tow the jet clear because the contract stipulated that no one but them is authorized to touch the aircraft, so the jet just sat there all day. Worse is the OG/CC tried to get them to move the aircraft but their response was "not in the contract.". I could go on all day about the poor MX we have here but I won't. Granted I have limited experience with real AF MX but from my experience they've all been pretty professional and good at their jobs.
  13. Forgive my ignorance on this but I keep reading about a 6 month syllabus. Is this a new thing or something current? I just got my RIP's a few days ago for B-Course at Holloman and they specify it's for 9 months (class in September, graduation in May).
  14. It depends. The weather at Vance is usually decent, and there hasn't been a class washed back in years so the odds are pretty good you'll graduate on time (roughly 54 weeks). As for your report date, it all depends on what you drop. It could be 3 weeks, it could be 9 months (buddy of mine was here almost a year awaiting his F-22 start date). So it depends.
  15. How are things going to be in the CAF when all these Viper dudes show up at the same time? Will there be a shortage of cockpits/flight hours? How does the CAF plan to deal with such a massive in flux of young wingman all at the same time?
  16. KEND 1 F-35 3 F-16 1 T-6 FAIP Bunch of stuff on the T-1 side that I don't recall
  17. If you're referring to the instance that happened a few years back at Vance those FAIPs are already gone, they got their assignments 1-2 years back so they had no bearing on this years FAIP drop.
  18. B-Course is gonna interesting with all the new Viper dudes. Is Luke still an option or is the B-Course there officially all F-35's now?
  19. This was the FAIP drop so completely unrelated to the student drop. Assuming you will start UPT in December/January and you'll graduate a year or so from there. While the current drops are pretty favorable for studs seeking fighters, nothing to say in a year from now AFPC completely goes the other direction and doesn't drop anything.
  20. T-6 END FAIP- x1 F-35 (old news) x1 F-15C x4 F-16 x1 B-2 x1 KC-135 MacDill x1 C-17 Charleston x1 C-146 Duke Field T-1 END FAIP x2 B-52 x1 EC-130 x1 C-17 Hickam x1 E-3 Germany Missing a couple more from the T-1 side
  21. Correct me if I'm off but doesn't something say that you can't pursue additional ratings while you're in UPT? You can fly just not pursue extra things.
  22. For the guy asking about helo's- Yup not possible to come back as a FAIP once you head to Rucker but you can stay there as a FAIP. For the other question about IP techniques and such, I don't recall ever seeing one or something similar when I was at PIT ~2 years back. Most of it was brought up in the brief/debrief, we might have had one class on it.
  23. Got a question and this seemed like the best place to ask it since my house is under a VA loan. Getting ready to do some renovations (new kitchen and x2 bathrooms) and heard that it was possible to roll these expenses into a mortgage. Is there any truth to that? I've heard that it's possible but involves refinancing. Any info would be appreciated.
  24. So the rumors were true...
