  1. How do you invest this much time and effort in a physical hobby and still weigh 300 pounds? Sword skills or not, he isn't sneaking up on his victim any time soon.
  2. I did the eight week class, and you will have PLENTY of time for a Master's class. I was taking three, and I drank copiously, and I slept until noon on the weekends.
  3. Well, if you want to stay within the bounds of the law, just make it miserable to live there. Put a lock on the bathroom door. Play opera at the loudest level, and rest the speakers against her wall. Put a lock on the refrigerator. Change the locks on all the doors. Eventually, this person has to leave the house. When they do, you don't let them back in. It's pretty simple.
  4. This is just one more reason to ensure your food is dead before you eat it.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/user/redbull/stratos It's live now...their inflating the balloon and Felix is in the pressure suit.
  6. The point is...if there's a pilot shortage that the AF is paying out huge money to fix, WHY ARE WE RIFFING PILOTS FRESH FROM TRAINING?
  7. It's cool. We'll just keep RIFing LT pilots, while paying out ever-larger retention bonuses to the Maj and LtCols. That's cost effective, right? Or, not that I'm holding my breath here, we'll figure out that we've been undermanned on pilots for the better part of a decade and stop RIFing them.
  8. If only someone would do the President's job while he's campaigning.
  9. It was going to be set in Paris, but the Chinese financial backers made some offers to bring the crew to China for free so...budget trumps vision.
  10. Except that $15 million in losses over 30 years is a smaller loss than the $18.3 invested right now. Money in the future is generally worth less than money spent right now.
  11. Way to drag the husband into it, instead of just claiming you were suicidal or getting pregnant.
  12. I could not possibly care less about orientation...but 18 and 65 is extremely creepy.
  13. So one wonders when he will get around to the Chiefs, the Mohawks, and the Thunderbirds (the loops-to-music AND the kill-people-and-break-shit kind).
  14. https://www.omg-facts.com/Animals/It-took-35-policemen-armed-with-AK47-s-t/53022?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter SWAT team rescues a shaved orangutan from prostitution.
  15. Well, 1500 hours on volunteering AND completing a master's. So if she's taking her textbook to work, and counting all the time she's in class as Master's + volunteerism ("I'm tutoring people in my study group"), it becomes more feasible. Maybe it's like the MX guys...takes 3 guys 20 minutes to do one job, that's 3 man-hours, right?
  16. Worked out in the end, though, because instead of being stuck in OGV he was sent back to the squadron, and from there he went to school. The point of the story boils down to this: TSgt didn't like the response he got, and whined to daddy about it. That pretty much sums up how things are going in the Air Force at large, and why I, for one, feel the whole "You're the officer, just sack up and tell the enlisted dude to shove it" stance isn't a feasible one if you intend to stick around for any length of time. If you're already planning to get out when your commitment is up, feel free to offer any response you want.
  17. As a deployed location, it's plush. As a 3-year assignment, it's a shithole.
  18. My wife would skip the divorce option and go straight to murder if I moved her to a Muslim country where it is 110 in the shade for 6 months out of the year, no matter how many fancy malls and cultural centers they build.
  19. Unless you are continuing to run huge deficits, and they turn off access to the money.
  20. I believe the word you are searching for is "locale". "Local", when used as a noun, refers to someone who lives in the area.
  21. I outrank every NCO in the Air Force. I should NEVER have to go toe-to-toe, they should be as respectful of me as I am to any Lt Col. The idea that they are upholding standards by being rude to superior officers is ridiculous, but as long as our senior leadership backs it, there's not much the CGO corps can do if our own chain of command wants to toss us under the bus because SSgt Snuffy works directly for the OG or WG/CC.
  22. It occurred at the chow hall. The Maj had his sunglasses on his head, TSgt yelled at him from across the chow hall, and the Maj ignored him. The TSgt was not pleased with this and immediately went to his LtCol boss, who chased the Maj outside. So now the Maj is outside, sunglasses worn properly, hat on, the LtCol has no hat. When the LtCol tells said Maj that he can't have his sunglasses on his head inside due to 36-2903, the Maj responds that the same AFI says the LtCol should be wearing his hat outdoors. A few phone calls later, and not only was the Maj on his way home, when he got home he was removed as the chief of stan/eval.
  23. Only three years? Yikes.
  24. Sort of my point. Plus, the fact that it's in the reg provides you top cover when he goes crying to his SQ/CC boss about how a captain was mean to him in the chow hall.
  25. Yeah, it's super-draconican. I mean, this whole saluting thing? Way outdated, we should just be able to give fist-bumps and be on with our day. And calling people "sir" is SO Civil War, when "Bro" or "dude" or "dawg" conveys the same meaning. Listen: If I walk into may commander's office to talk to him about something, I start at attention until he tells me otherwise. Same for my DO. Do I expect a Lt to stand at attention for a Capt? Not really, unless there's some sort of disciplinary action taking place...but generally I don't expect Lts to salute Capts either. I do expect that this is an EXCELLENT way for officers to exert their authority over the enlisted troops who suddenly feel like they outrank everyone on the base because they work for the OG/CC or WG/CC. It's not something I enforced on a regular basis, but it was handy to have it written into a regulation so when you really needed a way to deal with a REMF, you had one that was entirely within the bounds of the regs and you could defend yourself when he cried to his O-6 boss.
