  1. Bingo. The point wasn't "don't shoot the ILS". The point was "training should be more challenging than take-off, fly around the flag pole, shoot the ILS".
  2. One and done, with local refresher training done in the base pool.
  3. Makes me wonder where people will find the time to burn that leave when it already gets denied due to manning.
  4. Well, shit. My house just went under contract for my July move.
  5. So... We take this quick "bullet to the head" (which is usually fatal, but I'll play with your analogy). When is it safe to let people out of the house again? A certain number of cases? An amount of time? 18 months from now when we have a vaccine? What's the "slow gut shot" version look like? Does it look like a world where people can go to a park, away from other people, without being arrested? One where they can plant gardens? Go to work with masks and gloves?
  6. Had a DO that recommended Wednesday. Monday is catching up, Tuesday is like Friday. Come back on Thursday, then you have an actual Friday.
  7. Because I've seen how baggers at the commissary and workers at Chick-fil-A wear them. Put on a pair at the beginning of your shift, bag everyone stuff, cough into your hands, rub your eyes, scratch the top of your head, bag some more groceries... It might work if they were changing gloves regularly or using SOME kind of restraint with where they put their hands. As it is, all it does is keep them from washing their hands more often.
  8. On the contrary, I think this is a great strategy for a passed over major or a Lt Col cruising to retirement.
  9. Based on the number of cases country-wide, they would have been more at risk in San Diego or NYC than Da Nang.
  10. As of March 4th, Vietnam had a total of 20 cases. Not sure that was enough to convince them to call off a scheduled port call. Especially in the area, given our need to keep Vietnam on our side and not in bed with the Chinese.
  11. I'm planning to take the entire month of July when I PCS. Assuming I'm allowed to move by then.
  12. Do we have any evidence it was NOT encrypted on NIPR?
  13. Fits DoD policy perfectly. "Here, put on these masks so we don't spread Covid-19 all over the military. Stop movement. No TDYs. No PCS. No leave". "We know you have two dozen positive cases, but keep hot bunking and working inches away from the sick crew members.".
  14. Bought a bunch of Disney a couple weeks ago, when it was at ~$90 a share...down from over $150.
  15. The benefits of wearing a mask may be non-zero, but I think the jury is still out on the benefits of haphazardly wrapping a t-shirt around your head.
  16. Maybe his speechwriter is the person that yelled "WTF" during his speech.
  17. Only comes into play if they try to bring a court martial. I suspect that the Navy will not. They've had enough bad press over this. I don't see it working out for them on a public relations front... Which seems to be the only front they care about.
  18. I guess anyone who was at work prior was sent home to get into the proper uniform?
  19. Should be great for that 18-year-old airman in the dorms.
  20. You're thinking too far ahead. It'll be moved, but not until something like the last week of April.
  21. I feel sorry for any Navy recruiters right now.
  22. I'm just frustrated at how this mask guidance came out. On a Sunday afternoon, instructing people who largely aren't supposed to be leaving the house to come to work Monday with a mask... From somewhere? And the Air Force wasted no time dictating appearance rules for the masks... But provided zero resources to anyone to fulfill the guidance. Maybe it is better than nothing, but it seems like a lot of higher level leadership decisions. Can't do anything smart, can't solve the problem... But they can do something visible so they don't get fired for "not doing enough".
  23. I'm not sure what you're saying with the booting someone as a two-year captain. The question was in regards to DOPMA and being passed over twice. If you have 14 years enlisted, you'll be at about 24-25 years total before you're even up for major, let alone passed over twice.
  24. No. Commissioned service counts differently.
