Currently deputy IG, previously director of inspections. Never escaped Dyess after coming down in 2013.

My wife is onboard because it is pretty much the only assignment I can take that gets us close to get family.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

Yeah... Because empires keep going there. We should learn the lesson and leave. -
Active duty, not just a volunteer but had to go through the new boarded process they just started this year.

I'm working it. The WG/CC is supportive of trying for APZ. He had me do an OPR last week to put another, better WG/CC strat in front of the board this year. In all honesty, though, the ROTC job is making me much happier than APZ O-5 would. But if I can get both...

Need more data... Did the female subordinate fail a PT test? -
Holy thread resurrection...but I UTFSF to find something applicable. I've got an assignment as an ROTC instructor at Indiana University. Curious if other folks have done similar gigs. My biggest questions are about how to do the admin stuff when I'm not stationed at a base. I figure I'll have to make the 3-hour drive to Wright-Patt once a year for a flight physical. Just curious if anyone knows how stuff like finance inprocessing works, who is the servicing TMO office for the move, where do my flight records go while I'm not stationed at a base... Once I have university approval for the assignment, I'll contact the Det/CC directly. Just hoping some folks here have done the GSU thing before and have some insight.

Do you really think this group of camel jockeys with AK-47s poses the same kind of existential threat to the US as Nazi Germany? -
It's about that time again... 1. Over in the bonus thread, there have been rumors about making the promotion zone a 5-year window and eliminating BPZ instead of "one and done". Love to see any official guidance on this. It's not that I doubt y'all...but I've seen nothing from my base or AFGSC about these changes. 2. What are you guys doing with the two-line PRF? My boss used the top line as basically his push line, leaving the bottom for the WG/CC push line (#x/xx I/APZ, #x/xxx majors, command, SDE, blah blah). Is your leadership trying to stick with the "normal" top line of all your best strats, flying hours, combat time, awards, etc? Or are they using it as a narrative and counting on the record to speak for itself? 3. What are you guys being told for timelines? Even between B-1 bases there's confusion. Ellsworth guys don't have the PSDM (and I haven't seen it either), but at Dyess the DS has the timeline, with the 150 accountability date being 4 Oct and PRFs due to NAF back on the 14th, with an MLR happening in early Jan (8th and 9th, IIRC...but obviously I'm not at work) 4. More opinion than fact-based...do the illustrious members of forum believe that the 2-line PRF, shift to competitive categories, and this rumored 5-year window will help or hurt the flying community's promotion rates as a whole?

They can read dates on your OPR and training reports.

Weird, because our DS gave us the timelines for this board. 150 day was October 4 and PRFs were due to NAF last week. Will it just limit the number of APZ looks someone gets, or is the intent that an 06 guy and an 03 guy are treated the same for promotion purposes?

2020 Air Force Active Duty UPT Board

OG staff meetings. -
More homegrown than that.

Ours are due to the wing Nov 14. This Thursday.

Yeah, I wonder if it just means people will be completely ineligible for promotion at 5+ APZ
-
May not exceed... Meaning it can be less than, depending on what the service secretary wants.
-
Great. Let's get corrupt Democrats to investigate Trump, corrupt Republicans to investigate Biden, and get rid of both.

You mean this section? ‘‘(b) LIMITED AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY OF MILITARY DEPARTMENT TO MODIFY NUMBER OF OPPORTUNITIES.—The Secretary of a military department may modify the number of opportunities for consideration for promotion to be afforded officers of an armed force within a competitive category for promotion to a particular grade, as previously specified by the Secretary pursuant subsection (a) or this subsection, not more frequently than once every five years. I didn't read that as five year promotion timelines. I read that as SECAF can change the number of times someone can be considered (currently two) before they get kicked out or continued, once every five years.

Am I the only one who wants Trump, Biden, and the Clintons investigated in relation to this whole Ukraine thing? I don't care what letter you have after your name... If you used your government position for personal gain, I want you prosecuted.

7 BW, no rank on the Massif jackets.

Well, here at Dyess we are 3-D printing the controllers for the B-1 avionics system for pennies on the dollar. As well as replacement ICS switches, switch covers, and other cockpit components. I don't think we're quite to printing a new engine from scratch, but if I can get even these plastic pieces in a day instead of weeks, for a fraction of the price... I'm all for investing in the idea just to see what airmen can make. I'm old enough to remember bitching that the Air Force didn't want ideas from anyone below O-6. I'm sure as hell not going to shoot down airman Snuffy's good idea "because that's how we've always done it".

AF enlisted "pilots" - rank doesn't matter, only ability

We can't even retain maintainers. Can't imagine how much worse retention will be when guys have a six-figure job waiting on the outside. -
From Dyess to Eglin

I wonder how many of those O-5s making us "over manned" took something like VLPAD. I know one O-5 who retired for a whole day to make himself eligible for the VLPAD program just so he could PCS.
