  1. That was my strategy too...
  2. He's going to do well at UPT.
  3. Well, fuck.
  4. I don't have all the answers, I've never taught UPT. But I'd guess many of the same metrics that make a good USAFA, OTS or ROTC instructor make a good UPT instructor as well. It doesn't have to be a 100% solution, and it doesn't have to be a competitive board. You just need a way to screen out the people who shouldn't be there. Getting through that board wouldn't guarantee an assignment... It would just open the possibility.
  5. Guess I found my retirement job.
  6. For starters, no one who isn't already an AC or Flight Lead should be eligible for UPT IP orders, instead of giving people orders and rushing them through upgrade. Maybe a scrub of FEFs before selecting them. Hell, maybe a boarded process like we implemented this year for ROTS/OTS/SOS instructors and recruiters.
  7. Two seat model or single seat model? If it's two seat, I'm down for $100
  8. I sure wouldn't trade Pensacola for Sheppard
  9. I'm all for doing a quality control check of UPT IPs. But that is a different issue than what MWS someone is coming from. Rushing a copilot through AC upgrade to PCS them isn't good, but that doesn't mean the guy with 2000 PIC hours wouldn't make a competent IP. I think we've placed too much emphasis on what planes people flew, and not enough emphasis on how well they flew them.
  10. That doesn't sound like a problem with AMC pilots in general. That sounds like someone flicked a booger onto UPT. Do you think an F-16 guy with 3 Q-3s on his record would have done better at PIT?
  11. I didn't go to IDE in-res. Did it online as soon as I had a line number to major.
  12. Earlier this week I learned I'm a dirt bag because I didn't go to school. Now I'm learning I'm guilty of child abuse for cursing in front of my daughter. I'm worried about what the next revelation the board brings up will be.
  13. Exactly why. I knew I wasn't going to be a squadron commander within my own community, and they dangled squadron command of a CPTS out there to "all AFSCs" who applied for retraining. I figured I'd do the training, do a two-year stint as a CPTS/CC, then come back to the cockpit. But I was "too valuable" as an instructor to get released from my career field. Timing strikes again...we just cut four other IWSOs loose from Dyess for various things like the Multi-Domain Warfare thing and going to Pensacola to instruct...so now we're short manned again.
  14. I tried to be a finance officer, but I couldn't get released from my career field.
  15. Further, I can believe the fitness standards are dumb, while at the same time being livid that this person can take command while being so wildly out of standards. Big Blue has told us that PT tests are important. I've seen people denied PCS medals over a failed PT test four years ago. I've seen people denied the ability to apply for WIC over a failed PT test seven years in the past. And then we put someone who can't put a PT test in charge. I don't know, maybe it's my own salt coming out that I never did anything wrong, never failed a PT test, did all the PME, etc...and this person who has either failed, or will fail, their next PT test is fit to be a commander, while the Air Force is telling me I'm in the bottom 25% of my year group by passing me over for promotion. I'd bet my next bonus installment that she makes Lt Col out of this command slot.
  16. Can verify that she is not.
  17. Gym still runs a program, but squadrons can opt to have it run internally.
  18. I guess I was the bottom ~25% of my year group according to the Air Force. Maybe I should start working like the shit bag Big Blue believes I am. Come in late, two hour lunch, gym at about 2, go home after the gym...
  19. All to make people more resilient so they don't commit suicide...
  20. Today I learned I am a total shitbag, because I did not go to school.
  21. Why on earth would that be in the uniform reg and not an 11- series reg?
  22. Because despite not getting into high-g dogfights, those bomber guys have spent a career flying the aircraft as a weapon, integrated into a package, studying air threats and learning how to prioritize tasks in the cockpit to fly and release weapons.
  23. So we're going to let people fail a PT test with no consequence if pass within 45 days... But we can't let folks test with their own squadrons?
  24. My goal is to pass the feedback on to people who can still benefit from it.
  25. Which would be fine, but then your SURF shows you just at a squadron level job instead of a wing level job. Or in my case, squadron -> group -> squadron instead of squadron -> group -> wing.
