  1. I hope many more of them find peace in the days to come.
  2. I'm gonna guess there are some honest questions that will not be labeled "good"....
  3. Your MOPP gear will fit properly. It was a myth leadership used to say why we couldn't have beards.
  4. I just think it's a matter of where the priorities are. We approved additional hairstyles for women because the previous regs caused hair loss for some women. We didn't force those women to get "pony tail waivers". We have data that shaving waivers for medical reasons lead to lower promotion rates. And since there's one group that gets more shaving waivers than others, it directly contradicts the D&I efforts of the DoD. We have data that shows the Air Force medical folks spend something like 10,000 man hours a year on shaving waivers. Wouldn't it be nice to have those appointments open for real issues? I admit I'm not an expert in every NATO country, but I think we're in the vast minority when it comes to beards. Almost every other NATO country allows them. And then we approved neck tattoos? Beards are unprofessional, but neck tattoos are fine? GTFO. And then to casually disregard legitimate medical issues as a "fad" rings very hollow from a dude who wore a beard for the better part of his own career.
  5. He compared folks not shaving due to medical or religious reasons to wearing skinny jeans. Ironic given that he has photos like this:
  6. HAF/A1 is also holding up the latest rated board for AFROTC cadets.
  7. It's wild that, in trying to embrace gender diversity, the left is actually pushing all the gender stereotypes that past generations of feminists tried to get rid of.
  8. Surely it's a US vessel made up to look like a Russian one, right? /s
  9. I did the senior leadership group and tapped out. Mostly because it seems worthless, but also because I don't really want to make O-6. I want to retire in a couple years where I'm currently stationed. I don't want to lose all control of my career and be moved every 6-12 months to fill an O-6 job somewhere. I'm not competitive to be a commander, so whatever job I would get would likely be a soul-sucking staff job at a MAJCOM or something similar. Pass. I'll just ride out what I've got and take my $70k/year pension.
  10. So, Biden's campaign seems to be going well... https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1652059878452789248?s=20
  11. My mother is the same way. She doesn't seem to care that the Dems WANT Trump as the nominee.
  12. Trump would be the huge narcissistic asshole that never shuts up about himself. I'm hoping we dump Trump and Biden and at least pretend to nominate some competent people.
  13. You lost me when you said FDR was more liberal than Biden. At least his government spending was based around putting people to work on public projects.
  14. It doesn't matter if you are. You want to attribute this to some kind of deliberate bias like the media is protecting the Dalai Lama. I'm telling you the lack of coverage is due to the lack of interest.
  15. Let me repeat it for you: There are far more Catholics than Buddhists in the west. A major Catholic figure doing something like this will garner much more attention, concern, and eyeballs for advertisers than a major Buddhist figure. The western audience sees this, goes "gross, glad that's not happening here" and changes the channel. They see something about the Catholic church, and they're glued to the TV to see if their local church is one of the ones involved in the scandal. In short - one gets more attention than the other, because one attracts more viewers than the other.
  16. Go with whatever answer you want, dude. It's clear you're going to anyway.
  17. None of this was to excuse behavior in either case. It was to explain why one received more coverage than the other.
  18. I'm saying there was widespread abuse within the Catholic church, their response was to cover it up and move offenders to new locations, and that after an initial flurry of reporting, it is out of the news. You can posit a nefarious motivation if you want. I think the more likely answer to why the Catholic scandals got more airtime is that there are far more Catholics than Buddhists in the US, so the story drives more viewers.
  19. I feel like it DID happen in the Catholic church, and it HAS disappeared from the media.
  20. A near-peer has shown their ass on the global stage. They're hauling out WWII-era tanks to replace their losses. They've united the Western world behind them, to the point where NATO is less dependent on them for energy than any time in the last 30 years. They convinced the Scandinavian countries to finally join NATO. In what world do you look at Russia's current state and say "eh, they haven't lost anything"? Sure, they have nukes. So does Pakistan. Do you lie awake at night worrying about Pakistan? Having seen the state of their conventional military, I wonder if they even have the capacity to launch the nukes or if they've been picked clean of electronics and scrap aluminum.
  21. I don't read that in his response at all.
  22. Just waiting for someone to chime in that Russia is going to overpower Ukraine with a Spring offensive...because the last one went so well for them, before they lost 10,000 pieces of equipment and 100,000 soldiers.
  23. I can't imagine why so many people retire instead of taking the promotion to O-6...
  24. This time is (D)ifferent.
