  1. Undergraduate Pilot Training.
  2. Well, I'm against it just like I was when Obama did it, and Rand Paul issued a statement that he's displeased with the way Congress signed a thousand page bill into law overnight with no public scrutiny AND the President's intent to declare a national emergency to circumvent Congress. So... At least one lawmaker is sticking to his principles.
  3. Should be fun. Every media source clamoring to re-share a video that, in today's environment, is likey a career-ender... Without any knowledge of why this captain was reassigned or if it's even relevant.
  4. Based on the number of revisions that came out right after the release of the new AFI, I suspect it was an oversight. They rushed it through to authorize OCPs and didn't spend any time on the other uniforms in the reg.
  5. Back to doing it illegally, like we used to do with the flight suit.
  6. Agreed. No way to know if it was something like the B-52s drawing penises in the sky, or a routine training rule violation like busting an NSA or something similar.
  7. Can't speak for ANG or AFRC, but in the B-1 mid-tour swaps were pretty common on active duty. On all of my four deployments, at least a couple people swapped out mid-way.
  8. And this is different than the last decade because...? Hell, I could complain that the SR with 100 people had 45 DPs to give out. The guy with 1 person has to fight for a DP at the MLR. Very similar to what happened to me... Two more IPZs on the base and I'd have a DP. Instead I just have the "I wish I had a DP for him" push line.
  9. I hope there isn't guidance like that, because I got the "if I had a DP is give it to him" on my PRF.
  10. I'm not yet cynical enough to think my bonus status is even a consideration to the board.
  11. Jokes on you... My functional won't release me to go to staff.
  12. You make it sound so easy...
  13. Same. Plus, I took the bonus.
  14. Orange man bad.
  15. That makes more sense. Gotta stop replying first thing in the morning.
  16. I'm IPZ. If I'd had those strats on more than one OPR, is have been more competitive. But I got the FGO strat on my last OPR, and the major strat on the PRF. So the record overall is kind of middle-to-top-third, because I don't have CGO or FGO strats throughout. At least, that's what he told me.
  17. There's no way that's middle of the road. Second the advice of getting a job on the Wing Staff if able, but those strats are good enough for a DP, depending on your competition.
  18. So I sat down with my wing commander, and here are the bullet points: My recent record is pretty good, but the total record didn't complete well enough to get a DP. I had a lot of "#1/x" for instructor, evaluator, shop chief, but not a lot of #x/xx captains, majors, CGO, or FGO. Lesson learned... If your rater or SR is giving you a #1 that isn't CGO/FGO, push them for a CGO/FGO strat. He told me even a #10/40 majors would have been more helpful than my #2/23 shop chiefs. My pool was very competitive. My base was not the only one with too few officers to get an outright DP, so I was competing with others who would have gotten a DP at their wings if there were more people within the wing. Bottom line - if you rate on guys, don't give them a #1 of x in a category the board doesn't care about at the expense of a #x/xx (assuming it's a decent one) CGO/FGO or captain/major strat. I sure wish someone had said that to me about two years ago. On the bright side, he said boards have largely stopped punishing the lack of staff. We're starting to normalize people staying in the cockpit, because that is what Big Blue has asked of us.
  19. I hope you're right, but previous years statistics seem to contradict your statement.
  20. Well, I feel like it's bottom half based on a 55% rate, and the fact that the one other 05 guy at my base got one. I sure hope my SR wasn't playing games, because I've seen that burn the guy who is "definitely getting promoted, even with a P".
  21. Thanks guys. I think I'm over the initial shock. I just thought surely a top 10% strat for majors and a top 15% strat for FGOs would be enough to pull a DP with a 55% allocation rate. Same thing happened to me on my major's board. #3/64 FTU instructors, FLT/CC of the year for the OG...P. I think the part that's the most frustrating is all the senior leaders on the base telling me I'm on track and doing great work, then springing the "just kidding you're actually in the bottom half of your year group" when I open the PRF envelope.
  22. Yes. The push is where #7/81 majors is, has the "if I had a DP, it's his", "definitely promote", "SQ/CC then SDE"
  23. Awesome. Either I'll get picked up, or I'll have free beer. Win-win.
  24. No, my competition was a pilot. If I had to lose a DP to anyone, I'm glad it's him. I prefer to think I lost mine to a sitting SFS commander at Minot or something.
  25. #17/119 FGOs #7/81 Majors #2/8 I/APZ Edited to reply to your follow on - it's not that small a base, but my year group has been RIF'd twice. There's only two of us on the base.
