  1. My favorite part is we spend all our time on here complaining about piss-poor leadership. Then whenever leadership is removed for cause, there's always a brigade of people calling the guy who got removed "the best commander I ever worked for" and saying "it wasn't the commander, it was his subordinates". I wonder which leadership the board actually thinks deserves to be removed. Because if this is the kind of environment guys are cheering for...holy hell, what's left to remove someone that the salty aviators of BODN would actually agree with?
  2. Do you think that will force your commanders to be chosen later/higher ranking?
  3. So the PRFs we're already starting to submit up the chains will have to be substantially revised before they actually go to the boards? Seriously, Air Force...your March board date means PRFs are due to wings in early December, which means they're due to groups in November...and you still haven't decided if we're using 2-line PRFs or if I can recycle the PRF from last year with minor tweaks? Most AFSCs don't wait that long. The LRS, Comm, and CONS SQ/CCs, as well as almost every MXG SQ/CC at my base are all at least one year group behind me ('06 and '07 dudes). The flying community ends up doing it because even as a pilot, you end up commanding in your MWS - not likely to see a B-1 dude commanding an F-16 squadron. That narrows the pool of available commands since there are a limited number of squadrons in your home MWS. Meanwhile, a comm squadron is a comm squadron anywhere in the Air Force, so there's a greater chance to command one as an O-4. If nothing else, AFSC-specific boards would at least allow flyers to compete with other flyers instead of sitting squadron commanders in the MXG and MSG.
  4. Maybe you'd take it more seriously if it were reenlistment ceremony.
  5. He's too busy fellating the commander that got fired to notice.
  6. Bingo. Even if the CC himself wasn't the one responsible, the fact that FLT/CCs under him thought that tossing out the C-word to label a female student was a good idea in the first place is a failure to set proper boundaries and manage the environment in the squadron. I don't have to say something that outlandish and wait for my CC to yell at me to know where he stands on that issue. Apparently, this commander did not make his own intentions quite as clear to his squadron.
  7. If this is standard in your community... Thank God I'm not a fighter pilot.
  8. All I know is that I certainly wouldn't tolerate some stranger calling a female squadron mate a demeaning slang term for female anatomy... Why the fuck would I tolerate it out of the people who are supposed to be her wingmen? I don't know what part the senior leaders had in this, if any...I suspect they just got caught up in it. But holy hell, if this is what the SQ/CC was letting happen, he deserves everything coming to him.
  9. Complain about butt-hurt students all you want...if you don't have the SA to throttle back shenanigans when someone wearing stars walks into the bar, I submit you don't have the SA to command a squadron effectively.
  10. Masked, but your training report and duty status aren't... So, not actually masked.
  11. You and me, I guess. I wonder how many LtCols they're looking to promote on our board... The rate should go up if they want to keep pace with the number from the 04 year group.
  12. Sarcasm detector inop. Try recycling power.
  13. I got promoted. So I'm between the bottom 75% and the bottom 90% of my year group. I did ACSC in correspondence. I'm also working on a wing staff gig right now, so that should help. At least I have several "SQ/CC next" and "IDE soonest" pushes on the more recent OPRs, along with a 17/164 FGOs from the WG/CC on my most recent OPR.
  14. My bonus date is pretty much equal to my retirement date... So...
  15. Took the devil's money. I'm committed until I retire.
  16. We'll see. Gen Ray (AFGSC/CC) recently told us that the last Corona talked about breaking LAF into smaller competitive categories. Could be a step towards changing promotion rates based on AFSC.
  17. I'm curious about the suicide thing... Did he deliberately hide them, or did he miss a suspense in the timeline for reporting? Seems like a charge they just kind of piled on.
  18. That's my goal. Advancement through attrition. Almost no one left in my year group or the two behind me. The Air Force is begging retired O-5s and O-6s to come back. Seems to indicate there are a lot of openings at the O-5/O-6 level. Remains to be seen if the USAF can be smart about filling them... The last promotion board doesn't seem to be much of a departure from the ones that occurred in the past few years though, so...
  19. Maybe the airman...should stop fucking the husbands of her coworkers?
  20. That's why people want the feedback. I don't have to be a Golden Child to make Lt Col and retire. And if I know I'm not a Golden Child, then the Air Force can no longer entice me with "this 365 will be good for your career" or "you need to take this job in the wing staff for career broadening". If I already know it's hopeless as a mid-level captain, I can make my calculations without that false hope...keeping me from sucking up a terrible job in the hopes of getting a senior rater to strat me. I could have used this feedback. I had won a quarterly award for 6 quarters straight after PCSing to my current base. I was the flight commander of the year for the Operations Group. I was the instructor of the year for the FTU. I had a #3/64 strat from the group commander on my top OPR...and yet, with a 75% DP allocation rate to major, I got a P. I was in the top 5% of FTU instructors, the best flight commander in the group...and somehow, still at the bottom 25% of my year group. And I found out I was in the bottom 25% when I got my PRF handed back to me. Every rater and commander prior to that PRF getting handed back told me how well I was doing and that I had a pretty good shot at going to school. Talk about eroding your faith in the system. There's precisely 2 of us at my base. I'm not even sure what the cut-off is for the WG/CC to get a DP to hand out to us. It's me and another flyer...at least I'm not competing with a sitting SQ/CC in the MSG for the DP this time around.
  21. So what should you see if you don't get the DP? "If I had one more DP to give"? "Definitely promote" with the "Promote" box checked? (If I were on a board, that would raise more questions for me than "must promote").
  22. So I guess the take-away here is that if you got a couple mediocre OPRs as a captain, don't bother growing or improving because it won't matter anyway.
  23. Yep. For a group of folks consistently looking to get out of ADSCs one way or another, it seems like a strange stance to shit on people who found a way to get out of ADSCs. "How do I get out of my bonus ADSC? Can I just pay the money back?" "How do I get out of my GI Bill ADSC? Can I untransfer it if it hasn't been used?" "How much of my UPT ADSC can I get out of if I go Guard/Reserve?" And yet, they're upset at people who followed the AFI to the letter.
  24. It's rare, but not unheard of. There's no EA site in Bronco.
