  1. Can confirm. Almost every B-1 schoolhouse sortie includes some Lancer time.
  2. Great... My retirement is in 2027
  3. Yep. I heard it was the one of the lowest in WIC history across the Air Force. The B-1 community didn't even have enough applicants to make a full class, let alone select the most competitive.
  4. Exactly what I did when we bought my wife's new car. I could either pay cash, or take the 0.9% interest rate. With inflation holding at around 3%, it would literally cost me more in buying power to pay cash.
  5. Flying an ALR extreme mission at least comes with a clear intent and a sense of satisfaction.
  6. Yes. If you have the kind of credit that allows you to borrow money cheaply, absolutely. Because the vehicles I can afford in cash, vs the vehicles I can afford with a loan, are vastly different quality, and because I have a stable income source that isn't going to be subject to pay cuts or layoffs in the near future.
  7. Thank you, Dave Ramsey
  8. Where will we find the IPs to staff a new UPT base?
  9. There's a big gap between "it's not about the money" and "it's not ONLY about the money".
  10. Yep. I think they're due to the OG in my wing in the next couple weeks. Edit to add: Gen Ray (AFGSC/CC) was just here for an all-call, and he said that the last Corona talked extensively about looking at breaking the LAF into more competitive categories. He explicitly said he needs different expertise from a MX officer than an FSS officer, a CE officer, or a flyer, yet our promotion system causes people to go out of their way to look like people in other specialties, even when that is actually detrimental to the execution of their own duties. He also talked at length about the silliness of the 24-year requirement for 1-star, saying that it isn't written guidance anywhere in the Air Force and we need to stop pushing people along an artificial timeline just to meet it. Who knows if Gen Ray's vision will be present at the next promotion board? But at least it's being talked about by senior leadership. I think we're finally learning from the things the Army does correctly.
  11. So we halt phase maintenance for 6 months at a time? I'm sure that won't have a negative effect on fleet health.
  12. Happens in the Army as well.
  13. Non-compliance with...the AFI? Because the AFI is pretty clear that you shouldn't be writing your own OPR anyway. So if you're already passed over and running out the clock on retirement, go ahead and fight that battle. What are they going to do...pass you over again?
  14. Just turn it in blank, like your PRF.
  15. These numbers do not fill me with hope as a 12B.
  16. It's too bad we don't have a pilot shortage or anything. All these excess pilots just make it really hard to compete at promotion boards...
  17. Well, shit.
  18. Lots of #1/xx, especially from senior raters. Push lines for joint staff on several OPRs in a row. DG out of commissioning source, SOS, ACSC, UPT/UNT, B-course, etc. Exec time and/or a weapon school patch is usually required.
  19. Well, the age waiver could be a problem.
  20. I'll take one if you've got it.
  21. Not in my experience as one of your customers.
  22. That take rate is inflated because this year they offered it to almost any 12X beyond their service commitment. So a ton of guys already at 12-16 years and already planning on a retirement were then able to take the bonus. I don't think it'll stay that high after the initial wave of "old dudes". I know just as many 12Bs in my community planning to get out as 11Bs.
  23. I just can't muster the energy to care about an airman with a shaving waiver. Feels hypocritical after all the bitching I've done when a chief corrected my patches, sunglasses on my head, or the lack of a reflective belt. Fuck, at least these guys have documentation allowing them to skirt the regs.
