  1. dfresh, What happened to the guardresearvejobs site? Did we lose a database or something? Need any help getting a new site up and running?
  2. Do well on the whole thing, and you don't have to worry about it. No one knows for sure, but probably the Quantitative, Pilot, and Academic Aptitude are the most important.
  3. Sorry to hear that Jeff -- you should still share your experience on the Interview Questions thread.
  4. The 115th is indeed accepting UPT packets until June 26th, and will be holding interviews on September 6th. https://www.115fw.ang.af.mil/careers/pilottraining.asp Although their website says they are accepting until October 18th...
  5. As far as I know, they are not having a board this year, but that may change.
  6. As far as I know that information is correct. The process of applying to Reserve jobs is very similar to Guard jobs, and neither require you to disclose, or prohibit you from applying to multiple sources of commission. Your recruiter either doesn't know what's up, or is trying to make your life difficult. Definitely leave the recruiters out of it when going the Guard/Reserve route.
  7. I think you should be careful how you phrase your questions when requesting feedback -- they have absolutely no obligation to give you any feedback at all. All other things being equal, from the people I've talked to and the feedback I got, the most important quality is finding someone they can work with for the next 10 or 20 years. Keep improving yourself on paper (scores, community work, leadership, etc) but also think back to how your personality meshed with the other pilot's and whether that's something you need to, can, or should work on. (ie: don't be a toolbag)
  8. For your own sake, I'd leave your real name off these boards. It's cool if people know who you are, but I wouldn't really go advertising it. I am also wondering whether "we will be expecting applications until June 26th" means that, they aren't expecting applications until June 26th, or that they are accepting applications until June 26th. I sent an e-mail to Robert to see what's up.
  9. Can't speak for xcraft, but the info I have corroborates his. I was told they'd likely be having a board this Fall.
  10. BDJ, don't expect to hear anything from Hawaii for a while.
  11. Nope. But that might have been intentional, from what I hear, they prefer locals.
  12. My bad, thanks for clarifying.
  13. @ the 148th they have two guys hired in 2012 waiting on B-course slots, and they just hired two more...
  14. Also, if you get dismayed by 2 rejections, you're going to have a bad time. People seldom get picked up on their first, or even second interviews, and I know a dude who, in the course of a single year, applied to over 20 units and interviewed at 6 before getting picked up to fly vipers. Learn from every interview, and improve your chances for the next.
  15. If having a lot of money is important to you, then I'd say stick with your job and maybe find a Guard unit that will let you have both. But being a Guard dude doesn't mean you'll necessarily have the best of both worlds. One of the questions I was asked in a Guard interview was: "With your background, you could be making a lot of money with a civilian job. How do you feel about flying vipers and not making a lot of money?" I thought it was pretty easy question to answer.
  16. Give them a call, that's a sure fire way to find out.
  17. Good luck, I'm interested in knowing how they feel knowing they may be switching to the strike eagles.
  18. This guy deserved it, and I'm so happy I won't have to compete against him at future boards.
  19. From their recruiter. They haven't made the official post yet, and they won't until May I imagine.
  20. Heads up: 106th in NY will be holding a board in July.
  21. 148th Interview - 12 applicants - 5 officers on board (3 pilots) Meet in greet was the day before the interviews. It mostly comprised of a short briefing, a couple low passes of one of their vipers, and drinking in the squadron bar until late into the night. Interviews were held in a small office, and were 25 minutes in length, which honestly felt very short and wish they could have been longer. Here are the questions I remember. Most of them are pretty standard. Tell us about yourself, from High School up till now. Why do you want to be an officer, and why Duluth? If you’re hired for a part-time position, what will you do for work? What qualities do you look for in a leader? Why are you better than any of these other guys here today? What will make you successful in UPT? Tell me about a time you faced criticism from your supervisor/boss and how you handled it. Are you okay with blowing people up? What would make you a good fighter pilot? Have you ever been in the back of a cop car? Who has been the most influential person in your life and why? A lot of what we do here requires good teamwork, what qualities do you think are essential for a strong team? With your background, you could be making a lot more money by getting a real job. How do you feel about not making a lot of money?
  22. It was a board for both units. They are holding a board, probably, this fall, for a upt class date of spring 2016.
  23. Have you been over to airforceots.com? If not, head over there, make an account, and access the forums. There's a metric shit ton of info.
  24. Ah, my ignorance shines bright.
