  1. Active duty rated boards? Yes, there are typically two a year. At least in recent years.
  2. Interesting read about where our priorities have been since the end of the cold war: https://news.yahoo.com/pentagon-not-ready-cold-war-2-094500985--politics.html
  3. Not sure if received crazy early notification, or just wants to be super prepared.
  4. Thanks for clarifying. I did a phone interview once due to travel issues -- but thought it was the exception and not the norm.
  5. Hey guys, looks like the hiccups in the F-35 program were so bad that Hill is transitioning back to F-16s: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/mar/16/hill-to-begin-transition-from-f-35-to-f-16/ You'd think they'd get their headline right.
  6. For those of you looking at C-130s, the 143rd just posted their board announcement: https://www.guardreservejobs.com/display-job/66/Rhode-Island-UPT-Pilot-Hiring.html
  7. Is this something special that's done for prior service/enlisted folks? None of the units I've applied to have done phone interviews prior to on-site interviews. Sometimes you can arrange a phone interview in place of an on-site interview...
  8. Here's the newest version available: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7rcrstziv2j59ho/AF24_blank.pdf
  9. https://www.e-publishing.af.mil/ But you're going to need the IBM Lotus software to open it and fill it out. I could also generate a blank PDF for you and e-mail it to you if you want.
  10. Not my finest choice of words.
  11. Options! You must have a pretty good package.
  12. Never heard from the 190FS like you guys did, and am still a bit confused about all that since the recruiter over there said they weren't reviewing them until April. But whatever, I just decided to wait it out. Those are the only two I've applied to, sending my stuff to the 173rd soon, and will be sending to the 154th as well.
  13. Got an interview with the 148th.
  14. Is it totally cool to just call such a number to inquire about openings?
  15. I picked up this book after seeing this post, and have to say, it's pretty spot on much of what has happened. Haven't really read any other Tom Clancy, but I would recommend for a suspenseful read with good parallels between what we're actually seeing over in Crimea right now.
  16. I think you've done a good job with the new site and I check it almost every day. I just wish there was a "view all" button, normally I just do a blank search to see all current postings.
  17. Highlights: 2015 ... the Idaho Air National Guard transferring to an F-15E associate unit Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., would lose its A-10s and receive eight KC-135s in fiscal 2017 The Guard unit at Martin State Airport, Md., would transfer from A-10s to C-130Js in 2018. The Guard unit at Fort Wayne, Ind., will switch to 18 F-16s Oregon Air National Guard will lose 15 Eagles. Ouch.
  18. Congrats to you two -- I interviewed with them way back when, great group of people. The 76th FS just posted their board announcement: https://www.guardreservejobs.com/display-job/59/UPT-Candidate-for-76th-FS.html
  19. Wild speculation: the end of this week or sometime next. Interviews are the week of the 24th.
  20. Best of luck -- have they notified candidates yet? When you get a chance, we'd much appreciate a post to the interview questions thread.
  21. Stupid. As someone with no religious affiliation, the amount of fvcks I give about the memorial being in the shape of a cross is exactly zero. To me, it's but a memorial, and nothing more. That said, if I were killed in combat, and a memorial was built for a bunch of us, I'd prefer it not have a religious tie.
  22. It makes a whole lot of sense for Russia to make a grab at Crimea -- but their justification of doing so is tattered. They should have just said that they were harboring weapons of mass destruction. These Ukranians have balls of steel. An unarmed march on a captured air base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6tFJKPHonm0 And how the EU deals with this sort of provocation: I give reddit all credit.
  23. So, hypothetical here -- what happens to our astronauts currently aboard the ISS in the unlikely scenario of an all-out military conflict? We have two Americans, one Japanese, and three Russians (one of which is coincidentally Crimean) up there. Do they bug-out on their docked Soyuz's and abandon station? Though I suppose in an all-out military conflict, orbit might be the safest place to be.
  24. I would just call that confidence.
