  1. One of our guys just got back, said their flight adopted the motto "four times." Apparently not appreciated by the commander.
  2. Why not? I'm not trolling, I've never heard that and have a little trouble imagining why it would be the case(*). Although I don't really know what you mean by a church promoting event. *Unless it's the Westboro Baptist Church I guess.
  3. Why can't you wear a uniform to church?
  4. Interesting, are you sure about that? I was always given the impression that it was difficult to become an ADC, you had to be both experienced and good. I've very limited personal experience--a single admin sep board, but the ADC handed the 2 JAGs their butts. It was sort of funny to watch. That said, years back had a friend facing a pretty ugly (and BS) FEB where it was made very clear to him they were after his wings. Finally hired a lawyer--Bud Day. Who made a single, short phone call and the whole thing went quietly away.
  5. Haven't used Emerald Coast but fully plan to. I've seen/heard nothing but great reviews and what he posts on APC is excellent.
  6. This is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever read https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2012/07/accused_wendys_attacker_adam_l.html
  7. Looking pretty good as of this morning. Hopefully it stays that way. Good point
  8. True, but it's a mile from the South side of base. Cadet area is 5-6 N of there. Base housing on the other hand....and the airfield..... Granted, I don't know crap--communication is excellent as always . But I do know Discovery Canyon is where they were going to hold summer academics if they had to evac. I have no idea where the cadets will actually be living if they move. I've seen some rumors they are evac'ing cadet area, but nothing official. And since they usually announce everything via email.... I have a couple basics I was planning on dropping off tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll have some babysitters for the rest of the week.
  9. Pine Valley only at this point. There's a fair bit of other housing that hasn't gotten pre-evac warning yet. I'm also at Research/Powers, can see the ridgeline burning and what sure looks like structural fires. Sad day for a lot of folks. Edit: Spoke too soon, two minutes later they just evac'ed doug valley residents as well.
  10. That bites
  11. Not an app but still pretty cool for the iPhone https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1171859847/twig-the-amazing-ultra-portable-cable-for-your-iph (Full disclosure, inventor is a friend of mine, but I still think it's cool and have thrown some cash at it)
  12. https://usnews.msnbc....wo-wounded?lite Is that a silencer? Nothing political, just seems like an odd thing for a street cop. Edit to say, I was trying to post a photo from that article. I suck at interwebs.
  13. So after subjecting us to a painful, eye-gouging, preachy [and apparantly plagerized], incredibly lengthy screed on suicide prevention, you're telling someone to commit suicide?
  14. Families Of Drunk Passengers Sue Over Fatal Crash The families of three passengers killed in a British Columbia floatplane crash that an investigation revealed was likely caused by the drunken antics of one of them are suing the charter airline, saying the pilot should have known better than to let them aboard. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. the suit also blames pilot Damon York, who also died in the crash, for not wearing a shoulder harness "so as to prevent being jammed into the control panel" when the backseat passenger behind him kicked the back of his seat. As we reported last year, the Canadian Transportation Safety Board report suggested the passengers were too drunk to realize how unwise their actions were. "It is likely that passenger interference caused the pilot to lose control of the aircraft whereupon it descended in a steep nose-down attitude until it struck the water," the report says. "It is possible the passengers' level of intoxication contributed to their inability to recognize the gravity of the situation and stop the interference in time for the pilot to regain control of the aircraft before impact." The aircraft hit the water off Ahousat, an isolated community on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The three passengers, Samantha Mattersdorf, Edward Sam and his sister Katrina Sam-English, hired the aircraft to fly to nearby Tofino to buy liquor after being refused a ride on a water taxi. Ahousat is a dry aboriginal community. Witnesses told the TSB the passengers were clearly intoxicated and were arguing before they got on the plane at Tofino for the return trip, carrying a case of beer and several bottles of liquor. The TSB also noted that York could also have refused the charter if he believed the passengers were likely to cause safety problems. https://www.avweb.com/eletter/archives/avflash/2221-full.html#206745
  15. Interesting, are they deployed as 62's? The only ones I've seen deploy were voluntary either as JCAT or random 16G billets. All I can tell you is I work with a bunch of 62s and they all think they are non-deployable....and our boss is on their DT and he says they are non-deployable.
  16. It takes 13 weeks to graduate an infantryman. In my day I was told that it took a year to make a "trained" i.e. worthwhile infantryman. And that was about right for me and my friends.
  17. Sounds like some good stories?
  18. Thank you Mr. Webster. Related question, what is the distance from an airfield where it's safe to become hypoxic while flying?
  19. Bada bing: https://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/15/11718911-panetta-restricts-f-22-flights-due-to-oxygen-system-complaints?lite What's a "proximate distance?"
  20. We had an issue with Springs approach and it was finally clarified that two way radio contact is established once approach says your callsign. They got really pissed at a couple dudes and the answer was "you said Talon xx, roger," if that's all you have to say I'm going to do what I want.
  21. You talking about that 105 story or something else? I will say, coming back here has been a disapointment from a flyby point of view. The football game flybys are embarrassing, I almost wish they wouldn't do any at all.
  22. There's a LATN in CO? I spent a lot of time VFR between Grand Junction and C Springs in the Tweet. Beautiful country
  23. Gotta watch till the end. Very catchy
  24. The one that says don't film a barrel roll in a King Air and leave the camera sitting in the plane for mx to find and watch the video?
