I kind of hate it when people tell me how to spend my money. That said, I tend to agree with Huggy. Unless you are 100% positive you won't ever need it, you are closing a door that will be a lot harder to reopen.. There may be options later down the road, but I guarantee you they will be significantly more painful and/or expensive. Delta for as long as I've been looking has only required a current written. I doubt many folks get hired without a full ATP, but clearly it's possible. Since your written is going to expire soon, that fact is irrelevant. I don't know of any major that will hire without the written, as I understand it (?) the written is the part that is about to get difficult. I had no intention of going to the airlines....and here I am. Hell, even Butters is apparently going to give it a shot. If you're going to close that door, make sure you do it eyes open.

Couldn't the prosecutor counter by saying "and then he got fired for it?" Proving it wasn't appropriate?

I like the way you think. Reading about the card it says to enter the lounge you need the platinum card, and ID and a ticket showing travel that day. What do you do for the ticket?

Not so "latest," recently rewatched Tropic Thunder. Forgot how brilliant that was.

I have bad news for you and your daughter. They no longer have those. They have some khaki caps with AFA, and some blue caps with "women's soccer." If you get me an email we can work it offline.

I can run over to gift shop tomorrow and see if they still have in stock. I need to buy some t shirts anyway. Lemme know

I'm retiring. I've always been told you can't use the 20 day separation persmissive TYD if you have a job. More specifically, you can't be permissive TDY while working at a new job. When I check afi, I didn't see anything about that restriction. Any guidance? Really not a big deal either way, I just want to know the answer. Thanks

Rumor confirmed with the man himself yesterday. Failed 3 classes.

I have seen the eat your own, didn't occur to me it would bleed into court as well. I once sat on a retention board with two Lts, both of whom had a chunk of E time. We retained the guy, my assessment at the time was that two standard 23ish Lt's wouldn't have seen the big picture the way these two did.

I have actually never heard this before, what's the rationale?

Why would they take your cell phone and why is that legal?

One day they were checking insurance. As I was on a bike this involved a little work (I keep it under the seat). When I asked why I was told it was a RAM. I didn't know terrorists couldn't get insurance.

I was out for a jog one lovely morning on Laughlin AFB. I hear a shout and turn around. There's a seriously out of breath cop yelling me over. I'm of the darker persuasion....he saw me running along the fence line and thought I was a border crosser. Thank god he didn't have a dog.

12 FTW/CV loses job over 'inappropriate' emails

Well, I've only had a few interactions with the CC, but I will say I failed to find his officership inspiring. -
It's kinda sorta required at SWA. No one else cares (so far as I can tell). So, if you want to work for Southwest, it makes sense. If you don't, doesn't really matter.

Dependent Recertification - Who's got the back-story?
sputnik replied to Dupe's topic in General Discussion
I can absolutely guarantee any amount of money saved by catching the one dude who's cheating on his BAH (though I'm still unsure how this will catch anyone) will be dwarfed by the metric ass-ton of man hours lost by having the entire Air Force stop what they are doing, find the documentation, go to FSS and be immediately and efficiently helped. Sort of made up the last part. Kind of impressive really, someone measurably reduced the productivity of the entire USAF active duty work force...for an OPR bullet. -
Dependent Recertification - Who's got the back-story?

Isn't that what DEERS is for? I seem to recall dropping off birth and marriage certificates. And a bunch of other stuff. -
I can't argue with C-21. I spent a lot of money on my ATP, very happy with what I did as it completely met my needs/constraints. That said, APT is a box to check. So far as I can tell, it's an idiotic box to check. Therefore doing it with the least amount of money spent is utterly and completely the smartest choice. Find the cheapest place that you know you'll pass.

Study: Nuclear Force Feeling 'Burnout' from Work

It's relative. I've worked with FGO Army aviators, their hours were about the same as a heavy guy after one assignment. Army O's just don't fly. As for AF flying--luck and timing. I've never had a non-flying assignment.

I so used to love this thread. I'm sad

Meh. Cadets aren't allowed facial hair by their regs.. Message had two faces. 1. Don't violate standards--checks with CSAF guidance (I think, based on what I've read here anyway). 2. And, you're not allowed to play. Reminds me of pulling into Salem. Had fun there but was taken aback at otherwise excellent aircrew brochure. The first first item was about the fact that morale patches were not authorized. I could really care less, but how the heck was the that the first thing new aircrew needed to know? Crap, I hate staches. Sort of feel compelled to grow one now. We'll see if I remember in morn.
