  1. Completely disagree, I wore my mess dress when I got married and I got laid without even trying.
  2. [quote name="Clark Griswold" post="379406" timestamp=" The B-1 or the A-10 is not a good choice as the two do completely different missions (primarily). Why isn't the choice between the B-52 or the B-1? Both legacy bombers, both with similar capabilities, but one with more life, more survivable. Retire the Buff, start retiring the oldest 135's, Hercs and bases with no runways...
  3. True, just ask Magic Johnson...or any other rich person with HIV...
  4. I was able to dig up a little bit on mission/capes on SIPR but I was curious how the guys flying it like the mission. Deployment info...locations, length, frequency. Also home station squadron life (other than the obvious Cannon stuff) like morale and flying home station. I'm looking at the possibility of a next assignment and the mission and aircraft sound awesome, just wanted more info.
  5. Anyone in the 524th now or previously have any updated info on the -146? I can PM .mil if necessary.
  6. You're such an idiot, clearly he wasn't talking about Peyton Manning. He meant Eli.
  7. Also by him is a book about the F-15E in the Gulf War. Goes into some great detail like how the guys were dodging SAMs at low altitude and the creative methods they used to counter the Iraqi gunships (who were firing on Iraqi civilians) at the end of the war when they were told not to engage them.
  8. Some writer didn't listen at their last SAPR training. Don't they know sexual references (intentional or not) lead directly to sexual assault within months or weeks or even days?
  9. And in Afghanistan the price of a black market Rip-It just surpassed the price of Helmand's finest opium.
  10. From John Q. Public... I've been measuring my shots at General Mark Welsh carefully over the last week or so, because I've been working instead on trying to help diagnose the organizational and systemic issues associated with the drawdown. More to say on that in a day or two. But first, I am going to take a shot at General Welsh. Please, for the love of God, STOP PREACHING INTEGRITY to airmen. Just stop. Don't remind them to have integrity. Don't do it. It has ZERO effect upon the rank and file. None. The vast majority don't need to hear it and get offended that you feel the need to remind them. The few who demonstrate they do need to hear it probably aren't going to respond meaningfully anyway, and should not have their shortcomings driving how you communicate with everyone. The only impact this has is NEGATIVE. It's bad. It hurts you because the current perception -- a fair one -- is that the leadership and staff level of the Air Force is where the real integrity problem lives. Airmen complain of a say/do gap, an endless game of "I've got a secret" . . . and one-way commitments that leave them with no bargaining power. I've written elsewhere that personnel and evaluation policies are being allowed to persist when we know they're telling us lies and leading us to wrong decisions. If there is an integrity problem, it's not among the audience the attached article seems to be addressing. So why not target more discriminately? Best commander I ever had (and now one of my professors says the same thing) used to say "show, don't tell." Great advice. Fire the next commander you catch lying or the next Chief you catch defying your intent. That'll go a long way toward reinforcing the value of integrity.

  12. He no shit went through your gear? Wooow. Last year when this whole thing started, our deployed CC (at BAF) wanted us to clean up squadron areas but specifically told us that if anyone higher or lower ranking than him tried to look through our personal stuff to refuse and refer them to him.
  13. 29B's aren't just in AETC. I have to fill one out every time I take leave. Even if my entire leave consists of staying at my house...
  14. A good tip for better cooked Jalaps is to squeeze the excess juice and water out of them before you throw them in.
  15. That ridiculousness happens everywhere apparently. At Bagram, (where you'd think the priority of the flyers would be, you know, getting the mission done and helping out the bros on the ground) you can now get paperwork for not only having your hands in your pockets but also officers will get paperwork if they see someone anywhere with their hands in their pockets and don't correct them. I'm sure most of you know how cold it gets during the winter.
  16. DOS can't nation build in a country like Afghanistan without tons if military support anyway. It's not really feasible to send some Foreign Service guys out to a village without a platoon or squad and air to protect them.
  17. Interesting idea in general, but that was a horribly written article.
  18. Cheers to many great years, many Americans saved, and many dead enemy!
  19. It seems to that's what he was talking about. A mustache makes sense, it makes us more combat effective, it damn sure protects people, my mustache takes care of me and they help people develop as men. Fits every test Gen Welsh put forth.
  20. You don't really know how college sports work do you? All that money USAFA gets from playing in the Mountain West won't be there in D-3...
  21. From April until September when I was last at Beale it never counted. People tried to count it but it got fixed if that happened.
  22. I don't know where you get your info but UPT absolutely does not count toward upgrades. I'm sure we all have stories of somebody doing something stupid. I had an MC on my last deployment (Major type) try to tell me that the prop de ice worked like the boots on the wings do...
  23. Flipping a switch while the AC is moving is not exactly cosmic, just have some SA about it... True many MCs have valuable previous MWS experience and that definitely counts for a lot but some of those LTs have a deployment under their belt and 700+ hours in the MC-12 airframe and mission and that counts for something too, especially when you're sitting next to a brand new MC who's only been through MQT and a few in-country indoc rides.
  24. Can't read it, says I need a subscription and there's no way in hell that is happening.
  25. I didn't see many differences. The conclusions the author drew from those findings were off base though...
