  1. This very thing happened with the VSP for the 97 Year Group. I am a 96 guy and was not eligible for VSP. However, I went to UPT with some 97 guys. So, when our commitment was up, my only choices was 1. sign bonus 2. don't sign bonus but stay in and 3. don't sign get out. The 97 guys had a 4th option, take VSP and get out. They were throwing money in both directions.
  2. Ok, then the Brits suck at securing an LZ. Most semi-prep LZs in Afghanistan are outside the fence, but a team always secures the LZ prior to arrival and if you missed a fucking IED buried in the runway you are an idiot. I have watched the army and the marines secure LZs and this is one of the things they look for. Guess that why the story seemed ridiculous to me, because it is.
  3. Possibly true, but it doesn't matter. Just like when they moved the last Majors board back. Everyone will still pin on at the same time, there will just be less time between getting promoted and pinning on.
  4. So, if a guy hand flying the approach is "complete automation, what do you consider "hand flying?" Does that mean the guy is getting out of the seat, climbing out onto the wing and manipulating the flight controls by hand?
  5. Yes, that is how they were doing it with the 25K per year. However, I would not put it past them to go ahead and tax it at 33 to pay for Obama Care. In the end, you just do the math on the check you get, trying to figure out their math ahead of time will just give you a headache.
  6. Almost correct. When you do your Taxes that statemnt is true. When they write the check to you they tax it all in the highest bracket.
  7. An IED on the runway? So some guys snuck onto the base and buried and IED underneath the runway or do you not have any idea what and IED is?
  8. Last time I asked wing safety to send me a report via email (encrypted) they said the MAJCOM said no way... Called MAJCOM, they asked for my email address. No shit, that is what it is for!! Why is this so difficult for some Safety people to understand?
  9. Because it was on fire. Ha ha, most likely oxygen feed. Burned right along the top where the emergency oxygen lines are.
  10. I can only tell you the C-17 rumor is false, they did not land short... They crashed 1000 feet short and the aircraft saved everyone's life. Much like the 777 in SFO. Caveat: The 777 had help from the flight attendants saving the lives.
  11. That would mean you eat 2 meals a day at the club. Way to support the club system!!!!
  12. You are absolutely right. After something a violent as that crash, everything stops and you know you need to get out. The brain will then go into survival mode. That being said, I am still going to punch you in the face a throw your ass out the nearest door, because that is the training I would fall back on. Let this be a lesson to everyone... Wear proper footwear on a flight and fly Boeing. That plane took quite a beating, it is hard to believe there were not hundreds killed.
  13. Well, there is your problem. The 777 that crashed at Heathrow was powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 895s. Buy the GE engines! Oh, and before someone points it out the 200ER GE engines are 90-94Bs, the 115Bs are on the 300LR. Still big ass high bypass engines that do not flame out from FOD easily.
  14. Unlikely, the GE90-115B loves birds. Chews them up, spits them out, asks for more. That would have to be a very large flock of some big mother fucking birds. They either fucked up the approach and landed short, C-17 crews have been known to do this. Or, they had both engines flame out, similar to the aforementioned Heathrow incident, and saved the day.
  15. Holy shit, they just showed a picture a passenger took. There were fuckers carrying their bags. If I am getting out of an aircraft that just crashed and you grab your bag, you are getting throat punched.
  16. I was thinking the same thing. Debris field starts at the sea wall. Then the plane did not travel very far after impact.
  17. They are showing video of a lot of people getting on busses. That is a good sign.
  18. No other info Don't want to post a lot because the news is spouting bullshit. Sounds like flight from Seoul, declared emergency, crashed on landing. Fire department still fighting fire. See, now they are saying they did not declare emergency.
  19. Bag of human shit. Not a 130 guy but apparently there is a bucket with a bag in it that you poop in. Protocol dictates you have to carry it off the airplane. Don't know why the FE doesn't do it if they are so fucking important.
  20. Does anyone know where I can get a blowjob from a chick in Vegas?
  21. Ha, this reminds me if the time a C-130 LM made a HALO jumper take his bag of shit with him when he jumped. The idiot did it, lost positive control of cargo and it landed on Delta Ramp at TCM right in front of a MX crew towing a C-17. CP almost sent an OPREP to 18 AF before Safety stepped in and said we could probably handle this in house. True story.
  22. They most likely did not set the mixture full rich IAW the decent check. Fucking fighter guys, and the get a 20 year bonus.
  23. Yes, a free agent that works a 0900 to 1300 job with a 1.5 hour lunch, 4 days a week. Customer is still happy because we answer our cell phones and emails. Then we dazzle them with airlift knowledge. 3.5 years left till 20. I have already done a real short tour so I am at the bottom of that list. I was lucky, but only because like many have said here before... I bloomed where I was planted and worked my next deployment/assignment myself, before the AF did it for me. I also had really good bosses at the right time. I am leaving at 20, not going to the airlines... I like job security.
  24. Longer yes, but not as wide.... Not eligible, I am old and busted. The FY13 Bonus is for the new hotness. I took the 5 year back in ancient times.... 2006.
