My wife had our first when I was at LR going through PIQ. The 714th and JMATS guys acted like they were giving me a gift for letting me have 3 days off.
I think Pitts described AAFES errr myexchange to a T as self absorbed. AAFES managed to get themselves on my vMPF outprocessing checklist because people were running up huge debts on their military star card and now everybody has to come in to outprocess. Not call, not email, come in so they can verify your star card balance. I called to tell them to sign me off since I don't have a star card and the old (Asian) lady gave me this long winded reason why she couldn't do it without me present. WTFO?!?!
I'd be surprised if they gave you crap about wearing BDU's. They seem to be pretty cool about that stuff and don't want you to spend a bunch of money on stuff you might never wear again. Wouldn't hurt to call up there and ask though.
The shit sandwiches that the AF has continued to shove down our collective throats have got me pretty bummed about my future in the AF and I am just a junior Capt. I am curious how the old(er) heads on here think this will play out in the long run. Will the pendulum swing back in a few years and the AF will realize it doesn't have enough O-5/O-6's and everybody with a pulse will get promoted? Or is this really the way of the future?
Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious, but how can you order someone not to say something? Barring OPSEC, prejudicial, or otherwise "illegal" talk, what grounds do CC's have on this and what are the consequences for requesting an over-nugget?
This.
My post was in response to Mouse's suggestion that IFF could/should be accomplished in a turboprop a/c. I wasn't suggesting that the -38 is great at preparing a stud for that first TC Entry on BFM-1 at the RTU. I was simply saying that studs are already having issues at the RTU, so why opt for an a/c with less performance?
I'm looking to start a masters sometime soon. Is Trident (or whatever it is called now) still the path of least resistance? Any recommendations for other degree mills?
Base housing took some pretty wicked damage with thankfully no major injuries. I live in housing near the Med Group and got very lucky we only had a broken window. Houses on my street have entire roofs missing, garage doors completely mangled and 2x4's impaled in siding. The response Tuesday morning was impressive, the airmen in the dorms practically marched over to housing and helped with the clean up and were out helping almost all day.
The one complaint I have of the whole ordeal (well the one worth mentioning) is that the dissemination of information and recall process were completely out to lunch. The .mil website for the base took about 12+ hrs to update and the reporting line never did. I guess the base facebook site is the new official method of spreading information.
Edited to add that at 0700 the morning after the tornado, a PT test was being administered at the track. Glad we have our priorities in the right place.
