  1. Hopefully this refers to some sort of PWC-type restrictions the airline has. Either way, outstanding work!
  2. Yes
  3. You beat me to it... How did this ever seem like a good idea? WTFO.
  4. I like the idea of not promoting people that suck and this is a good way to accomplish that. But what about the people that will be up for Captain before they even get to an ops unit (read: no OPR's)? I don't foresee them not getting promoted, but I've known a number of guys that due to long casual jobs, UPT, BIT, IFF, B-Course, etc, that make Captain sometime before they are MR. Are they going to use the copy and paste UPT training reports for their PRF's? Going forward this may not be an issue since BITs are getting shorter and guys aren't coming on AD until they are ready to start training but I'm sure it will apply to more than a few people each year.
  5. I agree with chida that this is just a way for the AF to cut manpower with out an official RIF. Though funny, I don't think you'll see people trying to game this to become 20 yr 1Lt's or get out of ADSC's.
  6. They're coming out of the woodwork now... Do you have anything meaningful to contribute redmammal or are you here because your buddy Jango told to come mess with the pilots?
  7. Bingo. If driving people to/from their jet is your job, then take some fucking pride in it and make it your goal that nobody has to walk or wait more than a few minutes for you to get there. This applies to all jobs. No matter how small or unimportant your job may seem to you, someone else is likely counting on you so get off your ass and get it done.
  8. You won't need a sponsor. When you get there go to the Casual Office/Registrar in the OSS and they will get you in-processed and all the other queep you'll have to do. As far as being casual, they try to find jobs in the Ops Group but not guaranteed. You will have a "job" of some kind that will keep you somewhat busy until you go to IFS. When you come back, if you don't have too long to wait until you start UPT they will probably not give you another job, you'll just sign in at the casual office everyday. Try to give Enid a chance and don't let other people's opinion of the base/town jade your view before you even get there.
  9. Tank Moose, I would go to TMO and ask to see how they calculated your payment. I don't know what will influences your payment more, miles or weight. If it is weight then that is probably the cause of the difference. However, I know rates for DITY's err PPM's or whatever new name they've come up with change all the time based on how much a contracted carrier would charge to move your stuff for that particular move. It is possible that the market changed enough while you were at Rucker to cause the difference. Either way, have TMO show you why you got what you did and if it looks jacked up call them on it.
  10. The ACC/CC is certifying official for the profile and pilot for ACC East/West Coast Teams. The pilots all fly to Langley before the season starts for the cert.
  11. Cranium's up for those that are currently at Vance or anywhere in OK for that matter: https://www.tax.ok.gov/upmin071510.html OK is allowing military members to exclude 100% of military wages from state taxes until 2014. About ~$1800 in savings a year for an O-2.
  12. You're correct that there is no shortage of cheap apts, and houses. I think our definition of decent is different though. To the OP: Don't let anybody trash talking Enid influence your opinion before you get there. Odds are you won't really like the town. But, if you can suppress those feelings as long as possible, I guarantee you'll have a better year+ in Enid, America.
  13. Standard answer, it depends. If the dorms are above a certain percent full they allow people to live off base and even allow people in the dorms to move off if they wish. All you can do is call the lodging office and see what they say. I will say that most guys I knew during pilot training that wanted to live off base were able to do so. Finding a decent apartment or rental home in Enid on the other hand...
  14. A few weeks ago, the Club here at Luke suspended food service indefinitely. Rumor is that they had some health code violations. A buddy of mine last week went in to cancel his membership and get a refund since they weren't holding up their end of the deal (ie he can't get discounts on food they aren't serving). Not sure what came of it though. You'd think at a base with 7 Fighter Squadrons they'd be able to run a decent club.
  15. Casual Office in the OSS
  16. In before the lock! But seriously, if you need to know this for "instructional purposes" then you would already know.
  17. 2 And if you want to know what not to do: it's not usually a good idea to ask the Pit Boss at MGM if he can open up a table of 4 5 what, then promptly puke.
  18. WPAFB isn't too bad, but there are certainly better choices out there.
  19. Anybody have insight on what B-1's are like these days? I know a few years ago they were overmanned on CO's is that still the case?
  20. But seriously... isn't that what aggies do?
  21. Seriously <<jackass>>? Not only is that a shameless plug, but 75 bucks for a party shirt is ridiculous.
  22. Somebody write that down.
