  1. You know nothing is going to happen until CSAF/SECAF send out another e-mail asking everyone to recommit to the AF Core Values.
  2. You should be worried. Based on recent acquisition history, GOs will sign off on some multi-billion "revolutionary" technology in the name of efficiency/cost saving, push it towards FOC before the system is mature. Because you know, there are always block 10, 20, ## to fix the problems.
  3. Neither does aviator and volunteer.
  4. That's good, because the static display aircraft are checked for radiation level annually, and sometime they come back higher than normal. Usually from the instrument panel dials.
  5. *Thread Revival* *SIGH* - Good luck with the DoD IG Pilot's career stalls after criticizing oxygen system https://www.stripes.com/pilot-s-career-stalls-after-criticizing-oxygen-system-1.279043
  6. The problem is using this TTP you are still breaking the rule set by "The Man" and you can still receive punishment if someone found it on your hard drive. You should not get in trouble for e-mailing a recall roster to yourself. What's next? Getting a LOR for losing your cell phone with you coworker's contact info? How about LOR for losing a paper copy of the recall roster?
  7. Do you think it's stupid if you are caught sending unencrypted e-mails with PII then your account will be locked and your O-6 has to get involved? Because what if you are sending PII to another .mil account and the encryption doesn't work?
  8. This world needs more Charley's Grilled Subs. But hey, Nellis food court has Denny's Express. Ironically, it's the one AF base that doesn't need exotic food establishments on base. Btw, MCX's barbershops tend to be cheaper compared to AAFES' barbershops.
  9. Isn't there a congressman on this forum? Or is this not congressional worthy?
  10. With the revised OPR/EPR format, SAPR is the new "Christmas Party/AFAF/CFC/EXEC" duty. "#1 of 30 SAPR instructors; armed 200 human wpn sys w/ sexual countermeasures--200 sexual assaults thwarted!" I wonder if one needs "excellent" PT score and OPRs strats to be considered for SAPR instructor. Edited: Upgraded action verb in bullet.
  11. Did a forum search for this incident and nothing came up. I'm sure there is more to the story than what this article presented, but talk about luck and timing... 2013 F/A-18 crash: Out of fuel, out of time and one chance to land https://www.stripes.com/news/navy/2013-f-a-18-crash-out-of-fuel-out-of-time-and-one-chance-to-land-1.277698
  12. I'll just leave these here... Added: Shootout in Kramatorsk next on wave of Russian assault on Donetsk Oblast https://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/shootout-in-kramatorsk-next-on-wave-of-russian-assault-on-donetsk-oblast-343255.html Pro-Russian gunmen take over eastern Ukrainian city’s police headquarters https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/pro-russian-gunmen-take-over-eastern-ukrainian-citys-police-headquarters/2014/04/12/b3cfceed-c9a4-4599-938b-8c033bdb0405_story.html?hpid=z1 Exclusive: Key General Splits With Obama Over Ukraine https://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/04/11/exclusive-key-general-splits-with-obama-over-ukraine.html "During classified briefings on March 26 and March 27, Gen. Philip Breedlove painted for members of the House Armed Services Committee a bleak picture of Russia’s actions—and warned that the United States was not taking steps it could to help Ukraine better defend itself. On several points—from estimates of Moscow’s troops to intelligence-sharing with Russia’s likely adversaries—Breedlove’s briefing directly contradicted the message coming from other branches of the Obama administration." Edited: Added a couple of images of the gunmen and another link.
  13. You know, it is kind of scary that Gen Welsh is almost half-way done with his term as the CSAF. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_of_Staff_of_the_United_States_Air_Force
  14. Go to your base library Call your nearest base library and sign up for Byki. It's both web and mobile app-based. PM me if you still can't find it. Added: Link to the website, but you'll need to get the registration code from the nearest base library. https://library.transparent.com/aflis/game/modern/login
  15. I didn't know about the AFI requirement. Thanks for the education.
  16. No high paying civilian business cares about an associate degree (CCAF). If the E-9s really care about their folks, they would steer them towards a bachelors degree. But nope, it's about making sure people check the boxes to indicate "desire and potential."
  17. RIP Ultimate Warrior https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/pro-wrestling-legend-ultimate-warrior-dead-54/story?id=23250160 https://youtu.be/yqP3DsOQ84I
  18. Yeah you are right. I've seen the "cozy with the contractor" SPOs, but I've also worked with the "hold contractors accountable" SPOs. I chose to believe there are more good than bad SPOs. My assumption could be wrong especially with today's AF, hence the reason why I wrote "I may be simplifying things a bit" at the beginning.
  19. From the Retirement FB Page: Edited: Removed names...
  20. I may be simplifying things a bit here but GOs and SESs need to: 1. Stop believing everything they see on the PowerPoint slides. (I know the engineers don't) 2. Push back and resist the retired GOs now working for the defense contractor (who's only as good as their Rolodex/Outlook contacts) 3. Pay attention to the revolving door policy 4. Don't trust the bean counters (theirs and ours) 5. Trust the SPOviets and your technical SMEs (usually the retirement eligible GS-14s who don't give a ###### anymore) 6. Understand if it's too good to be true, then it probably is Edited: 7. Resist and deflect the political pressure (this is the hardest one) I know, it's easier said than done.
  21. I wonder if Russia will deploy more troops to protect these Pro-Russia protesters? https://www.reuters.com/article/2014/04/06/us-ukraine-crisis-storm-idUSBREA350B420140406
  22. The term "FIIGMO" no longer applies in today's AF...
  23. Liquid and other folks who've been around the af longer than I have, Everything you've said here are true. I just think there is a disconnect between the senior dudes and the junior folks. IG is a great resource but it should not be the first option.I Have seen too many times when the lazy worker threatened IG to see the leadership back down and cater to the individual. And everyone else gets pissed off. I personally think IG should be invoked only after you have done all you can to influence the outcome. If it is frivolous then there should be repercussions. For SOS in-res I just don't think it is warranted unless the in-res school is officially tied to the promotion process. And if it is tied to it then that's a very expensive discriminator and everyone who didn't go and didn't get promoted need to file a complaint. Lastly, whats the official position on masters degree before I start documentation for an IG complaint?
