  1. FIFY Unfortunately, my experience makes me believe it's an Air Force-wide cultural issue.
  2. *COUGH* The marathon CBT also known as Cyber Awareness Challenge
  3. Perhaps try casting the "death" spell on A1? https://youtu.be/j_ekugPKqFw
  4. Bob Hoover, the polar opposite of Yeager. Here is Ole Yeller...
  5. Got it... I see what you are saying. Thanks.
  6. I think we are saying the same thing. Perhaps I should have been more specific. OTS rated applicants will only be considered for the rated AFSCs. Non-rated applicants, like you said, listed their preferences but can be placed into any non-rated AFSCs. The Academy appears to copy the OTS selection model/process.
  7. This is akin to the OTS rated and non-rated selection boards. If you apply for the rated board, you must rank all the rated AFSCs and pray for the best. At least you find out your selected AFSC before you start OTS and can decline the OTS slot if you got something that you don't want. This can be a bad deal for the Academy grads. In theory they can get an undesirable AFSC, wash out of training and the AF, get hit with tuition payback. Or get stuck with an undesirable AFSC and is locked in for the next 10 years... But service before self right? I'm convinced A1 is not going to stop until morale is completely removed from the AF.
  8. Funny, you sound just like this d-bag I know at Creech. I've encountered people like you in real life, good idea fairy throwing out buzz words to make yourself look authoritative. Deflect and defiant to the bitter end when challenged even though you know nothing about the subject.
  9. Have you tried asking your supervisor/senior O-6 or any FGOs in your office that you can trust? You have some legit concerns about your future and your supervisor/commander *NEED* to give you that career feedback and address your concerns. They probably understand your specific situation better than anyone else on this board, not to mention it's their job. The best advice I was given was that it's all about luck and timing. Getting forced shaped from the AF does not say anything about your ability as an officer/leader/worker. Don't think you've done something wrong or you are not good enough if you got selected to be force shaped. It's all about luck and timing. If you want to make it a career then just roll with it and see what happens. If you are ready to get out then just decline the short tour. Regardless of the situation always have a back up plan. I hope this helps.
  10. Relax boys and girls, we have shown our hands and NOT all options are on the table. Obama: U.S. Won’t Take Military Action in Ukraine We can all go back to preparing for the upcoming BBQ competition. Edited to add the link: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Obama-Military-Action-Russia-Ukraine-Crimea-Tensions-Troops-251067481.html Really funny comments at the bottom of the page.
  11. Liquid, A lot of us just want honesty from Sr leaders. Airmen's careers have been in limbo and life/family plans put on hold since December. This may not bother you but it affects many of us. When leaders put on a town hall meeting with the SECAF, you would expect an open forum to address concerns and not another dog and pony show with hand picked questioners. I am sorry if this doesn't bother you. But this is a part of the reason why many of the CGOs are so jaded and are looking to bail. Your response to the FMP is great. if it's legit, why is it only available to certain individuals?
  12. YGBFSM... Male and female airmen have all gotten coffee for the boss and brought home-baked pastry for the coworkers. Get over yourself. Of all the shit going on in the AF and the world, this is now AF Times headline. If anything, I've seen women benefited more in the AF because they are female. But people can't say shit about that for fear of being accused a sexist and get hit with an IG complaint. I sincerely hope someone in the NCR set her straight for writing this article. https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140318/NEWS01/303180045/Opinion-Mustache-March-lose Edited to Add: Upon re-reading the article, it's apparent she is only using Mustache March to gripe about her perception of discrimination in the AF. Pretty sure there are other females in the AF who are taking part in Mustache March (morale building event). If she feels this strongly about the "Boys Club" she should file an IG/MEO complaint. I'm sure one of the JAGs in the office can also provide her with some legal options.
  13. That's pure BS. These managerial clowns just don't get it. Go to Gen Welsh's facebook page and ask him directly and let him know what happened at the town hall. Others have already been speaking up on his facebook page. And if you don't want your name out there, just create a separate account.
  14. This ought to be interesting... My money is on the 11X Edited to add that it is jacked up to put these 500 airmen thru this emotional roller coaster and most likely have them go thru the process again next year. The exact situation Gen Welsh said he wanted to avoid
  15. AeroVironment and Lockheed recently launched an UAS partnership, I wouldn't be surprised if Lockheed buys out AeroVironment eventually. I had the honor of talking to Mr. Paul McCready one-on-one a couple of times when he was still alive. He was a great man. https://www.amazon.com/More-With-Less-MacCready-Efficient/dp/1893554902
  16. This terrorist looking dumbass needs to be shaved and beaten for creating something so stupid. Judging by his smirk, he seems pretty proud of his little "accomplishment." Skynet is getting closer by the day... https://youtu.be/B1wmXNL9LiM
  17. https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/south-carolina-woman-suffers-three-hours-day-orgasm-hell-1439504 A 40-year-old woman was driven to thoughts of suicide by a rare medical condition that gives her non-stop orgasms. Heather McCuen is compelled to masturbate for up to three hours every day because she suffers from Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD), which started when she became pregnant. In a desperate bid to rid herself of the sexually embarrassing condition, McCuen has tried intimate botox jabs, anti-depressants and also resorted to electric shock treatment. But all these have failed to cure her. "Having orgasms all day might sound like fun but for me, it's a living hell," she said in a Sun report.
  18. I like Gen Welsh but I'm having a real hard time buying that explanation. There are always JAGs on the staff to advice the commander, and at the HAF level, it should be your most experienced (assumption on my part) JAGs advising the stars, especially on a major force management program such as this debacle. Manpower is not exactly breaking new legal grounds so for him to say "laws they didn't know about" it doesn't make sense (to put nicely). Maybe we need Chang to explain this if he's still around.
  19. If they knew they can easily get 10K then why not just offer VSP and stop there? Instead of getting everyone in the AF all spun up and manhours wasted in creating RRFs. Maybe there is a good explanation for this but I'm not tracking. Edited to add: Oh and the "I didn't know this was happening" excuse is tired. How about "The buck stops here" instead?
  20. So I read Brig Gen Olds' memoir from a while back. Great book front to back, but the part that made a lasting impression to me was the advice from Gen Spaatz to then Maj Olds. This time-tested wisdom still holds true today. I get it, nobody is perfect, but it's about which category you strive to be. It is evident (to me at least) that what's wrong with the AF is the dedicated leaders are way outnumbered by the other categories of people. I sincerely hope Gen Welsh sees this and is successful in putting more "dedicated" people in the positions of leadership. Until then, expect to see more buffonery in the AF Times. “Now, I know advice is cheap and often suspect, but here goes. You’ve had a good start and there’s a long road in front of you, but always remember this: Your most difficult problem will be the people. In the military, they mostly divide themselves into four major categories: There are the ‘me-firsters’, the ‘me-tooers’ the ‘deadwood,’ and the ‘dedicated.’ You are among the minority, the ‘dedicated.’ Stick with them, search them out, and work hard to be worthy of their company. You won’t be popular with a lot of your bosses who act dedicated but really aren’t, and that can make life difficult at times. Beware of the ‘deadwood.’ Most of them mean well and, in their own way, try hard, are loyal, and even useful. But too often they’ll botch things up and get you and your outfit in trouble. Watch out for the ‘me-tooers.’ These guys will tell you whatever they think you want to hear. They borrow thoughts and ideas from others and present them to you as though they were their own. They are opportunists who look for every avenue to advance themselves, without sticking their own necks out. They ride someone’s coattails and try to make themselves indispensible to the boss. Believe me, they are not to be trusted. You don’t want yes-men around you. But you can’t always avoid them. The worst and the most dangerous are the ‘me-firsters.’ Most of them are intelligent and totally ruthless. They use the service for their own gain and will not hesitate to stick a knife in your back at the slightest indication you might stand in their way. They seem arrogant, but don’t be fooled; they are really completely lacking in true self-confidence. Do you understand that?”
  21. I shit you all not, ESD is like a poorman's silicone valley startup company. They have scheduled breaks where all the contractors rushes into this break room complete with a couch, big screen tv w/ video game console hooked up, ping pong table and some other games. They even have lockers in the hallway, so it's like back to high school, complete with the old, non-descriptive building. Sorry for the thread derail.
  22. So is it too late to restart the F-22 production line?
  23. I know this is a very complex issue, all sides have some serious cost-benefit analysis to make. But Garry Kasaparov (former #1 chess player turned political activist) has some really good lines on his Twitter account and I guess he's due in Texas this week for a speech. https://twitter.com/Kasparov63 Garry Kasparov ‏@Kasparov63 Feb 28 US calls Crimea "uncontested arrival", not invasion. Obama will win semantic fights in the air while Putin wins with troops on the ground. Garry Kasparov ‏@Kasparov63 Mar 1 Nice. RT @chessninja: Vladimir, it's Barack. / Who? / Obama, President of the United States. / Oh. How did you get this number? Garry Kasparov ‏@Kasparov63 Mar 1 I will feel very safe in Texas. Ukraine gave up its weapons to US govt for promise of security. But Texas has 2nd Amendment!
  24. The point is if we are going to play gotcha games with a picture of a girl in bikini at your desk and throwing out runner's world, then the show was in gross violation of the AF's policy of a healthy work climate (people do work at the club). Pole dancing was just hypothetical. Okay, how about a swimsuit contest at the O-club? The video highlighted one of the male cross dressers prancing around suggestively in corset and stockings. I'm no prude, but again the AF is trying to promote sexual assault prevention awareness and workplace professionalism. They need to get with the program.
  25. How can the Air Force allow such promotion of excessive sexuality to take place on base and at the same time crack down on workplace display of personal items that might be interpreted as sexually offensive. The attendees should be labeled as bystanders and cowards for not reporting this violation to leadership and SAPR. Regardless of your sexual preference this is just total hypocrisy. Would it be okay if someone held a heterosexual female pole dancing contest at the O-club? No, it would be an outrage in this day and age. The organizers and attendees would be punished severely and kicked out of the AF. On the other hand, the GLBT fundraiser organizers will probably get rewarded with quarterly awards and firewall 5s for this little event. Last thing, GLBT activists should be outraged at them for perpetuating the stereotype (unless it's true) that gays and lesbians are nothing but freak shows & cross dressers instead of the regular hardworkin' warfightin' airmen that they should be.
