  1. From what I know, Lt Gen Holmes is a likely candidate for PACAF, but USAFE is another option for him.
  2. Just got my assignment notification yesterday.
  3. One of my insiders says Carlisle is no longer in the running (this is contrary to one of my previous posts about 8 months ago). They say Hyten's camp is awfully quiet, and that's usually an indicator. This is not very exciting news IMHO. I'd much rather have Goldfein. But then again, I would rather have Goldfein as a COCOM CG or Joint Staff Vice/Chairman as opposed to CSAF. The USAF needs more representation at the GO level in Joint positions.
  4. This^ Senior rater credibility matters, and the boards see right through any of the SR's shenanigans.
  5. In my corner of the 11F world, going to WIC has absolutely zero to do with an individual's career and everything to do with selecting the right individual to lead a squadron's training program for that squadron to be thee most lethal squadron in the world. The 11F WIC is way too difficult to pick someone based on anything else...they'll washout. The MAF has always struck me as career focused instead of job focused, but I guess when you spend a bunch of time droning from point A to point B for hours on end you run out of approach plates and 11-217 to cover and you end up talking about how to get promoted? All I know is that no one talks about this career stuff in the fighter squadrons I've been in for two reasons: 1) there are too many tactical things to learn to have time to talk about someone's career (this is often to a fault) and B) you will be ridiculed for talking about this career stuff in the fighter squadron common areas because of item #1 (again often times to the detriment of careers, but few care). WIC grads around me do the typical FS WO job followed by either teaching at Nellis or Wing Weapons. After that, it's either off to IDE/staff, get offered a 365 and go guard/reserve, or get out altogether and do something completely unrelated. I have never seen any 11F patch in my community ever be an aide/Exec at any level unless they were a graduated sq/cc, and that's to be a 4-star's Exec (the right guy being groomed to be a GO). The guys in my community who are the aides/execs are the non-patch wearers, and they are often the ones who care more about their career moves than they would ever admit (somethings are the same in every community in the USAF).
  6. I spoke with an upper echelon bro in CE at the Deid. He also stated a May-16 handover.
  7. ...Honestly, the only thing that could get this started is a situation where double digit SAMs or 4+ gen fighters either block or severely impede operations for 'Merica or allies, the need will have to be demonstrated not just theorized before Congress will come around to it. That's already happened (Syria). Congress just hasn't gotten the memo yet.
  8. https://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/policy-budget/leaders/2016/01/08/lori-robinson-next-northcom-head-hyten-mcdew-carlisle/78507984/
  9. Gen Carlisle will be the next CSAF, and Gen Robinson will be the next NORTHCOM Commander. Carlisle will take the reins at the end of June.
  10. Thanks for posting, deaddebate. I'm currently on a 365 in the desert, and the Army staff of CJTF-OIR are nothing but a worthless waste of manpower and bureaucracy that get in the way of what the CAOC is meant to do -- FIGHT AN AIR WAR! Seriously, it's maddening. The joke "The word Joint is spelled A-R-M-Y" couldn't be more spot on.
  11. Wow, the T-38 drops have been pretty sweet lately. It reminds me of the early 2000s.
  12. If you have access to safety privileged info, read some of the recent fighter SIB out briefs for more info.
  13. 3 x questions regarding UPT grads assigned to T-38 adversary squadrons at Langley/Tyndall: 1) Is this a sought after assignment? 2) Are these grads guaranteed an F-22 follow-on? If so how long should they expect to fly T-38s before the transition? If not, are there any guarantees given at all? Any examples of these pilots not becoming Raptor drivers? 3) Do they attend IFF prior to arriving at Langley/Tyndall? Thanks.
  14. ^This^ One of my close friends got a P from his MLR for his 2BTZ to Lt Col board and still got picked up 2 below. The MLR board got it wrong, the promotion board got it right, and it boosted my confidence in the system.
  15. Same here. Thanks for the reply.
  16. I signed mine back in July-13 (before the early offering was going on), and I receive mine on the anniversary of the day I put wings on my chest, 05-Sep-03.
  17. Gorenc is being put forward for a COCOM. Most likely EUCOM/AFRICOM. Don't know bout you, but I think he's a great choice for that neck of the woods.
  18. Really poor form, Mark1. I would feel bad if Trojan Gilbert's family read this. BTW: He died while conducting a strafing run so others might live. (That's combat.) Calm down, dude and think before you type. We're all on the same team here. No need to frat.
  19. Gen Welsh and Gen Carlisle (most likely his replacement) are believers in some form of Information Command that will incorporate DCGS, ISR, AOC, C2, cyber, and space (I've probably left something out). This goes back to Lt Gen Deptula's brainchild from years ago. If you ask Welsh or Carlisle, they'll say it's about 8-10 years out. If Hawk takes over as CSAF, they have 5 years to keep the ball moving. Their staffs are already at work on the plans.
  20. Humility...lots of humility (reference thick skin comment). A willingness to help out the team even when it may put you at a disadvantage (that's humility). Make a decision quickly with confidence, don't waiver even for a second, and admit you were wrong if it didn't work out (reference humility). No one owes you anything, and don't be a whiner even if you know you're right or you've been wronged -- suck it up (humility). There's other obvious stuff, but the right attitude will keep you in the game. Oh, and don't suck.
  21. There's a question on this survey that asks you what your AFSC is. Immediately following this question is when I was asked questions about the bonus. In other words, the survey asks different questions to different people based on their answers throughout.
  22. You know what's wrong with this is the fact that budderbar has to wonder what his commander is trying to say. I won't speak for communities I don't know, but at least within the fighter community, we are so good at providing unfiltered feedback in the tactical debrief, but so absolutely abhorrent at providing feedback on OPRs, job performance, bar-act, officership, etc. Budderbar should have had his commander sit him down and say, "Hey, just so you're not confused, here is what I'm trying to say on this OPR, and here is why, and here is how I am hoping a promotion board will interpret this. If you wouldn't have done this and would start doing this, here's how it should look next year." Feedback like this doesn't happen from a big AF program telling us to, it starts at a grassroots level like this. Cheers, Budderbar.
  23. It's in the mail.
  24. So I get notified on 5-Jun that I'm deploying on a 365 on 01-Jul. My commander gives me 22-29 Jun to knock out all of my deployment training...ADLS is down 22-29 Jun. This is the best situation ever! I don't have to do a single CBT. Boom!
  25. Affirm. USAF has to do something with the F-16s from Hill. They would like to replace Whiteman and Ft Wayne A-10s with Hill F-16s and McGowan A-10s with USAFE F-15Cs. However, they'd also like to replace the Hawaii Raptors with F-15Cs, but that ain't gonna happen.
