It doesn't hurt to prepare for a checkride. You are demonstrating to the evaluator that the eval is important to you. The N/N and spot evals are designed to ensure that you are safe and complying with command guidance all the time. If you don't prepare for an annual eval you may pass, but I want to see you strive to do great. I don't know a single copilot/AC that knows it all, hitting the books a little harder (sts) isn't a bad thing, is it? I think it is also good form to start the eval by having the examinee recite the Airmen's creed followed by all verses of the AF song. Excellence in all we do, right? JK

Shack. Just what I need, another laptop to slap a bandaid on a broken process. Let's see, I now have a CT2, Tactics, JPADS, MIF laptop to keep up with and use inflight. We need logistics to more effectively use our aircraft. I've flown empty from the AOR more times than I care to count. I know that there is a backlog of sh1t that needs to get out of theater. Why are we not hauling that? Aircrews aren't wasting resources. Our logistics folks are.

I'm not sure about current policies, but me and the centrifuge didn't get along so well when I went to qual on the 15C. From what I remember, there is an A10 profile that is slightly different than the 38 profile. If you are having issues I highly recommend getting the A10/15E profile before going home. Then ask your commander if he can work an A10 for you. Don't try to stay as a FAIP. Changing MAJCOMs is a lot of paperwork and mine had the scrutiny of a three star to stay in AETC. If you stay in ACC no one will pay any attention outside of the assignment guy at AFPC. Because my commander wanted to keep me as a FAIP and the additional scrutiny, I eventually was permanently restricted from all high g aircraft. There was another guy that was having issues with the fuge about 6 classes behind me. He now flies A10s.

Yeah, they ripped 1L/19R out and are in the middle of replacing it. Single runway ops at ADW. The middle taxiway is gone too, so you have to exit at the end. -

I worked with the Embassy in Honduras, they have C-12s there. Based on the workload of the embassy staff, I would say that as cool as the C-12 thing sounds it will take you away from your primary duties and lead to more late nights at the office playing catchup on whatever project is hot at the time. If you are going to staff I'd probably lean towards a staff job that didn't include flying a C-12. If you want to go to C-12s I would try to avoid one assigned to the DAO.

Totally agree, I doubt any Commander would have signed off on a profile that exceeded -1 guidance.

How about we add the "warrior" spirit to retirement. Eveyone knows the true warriors are the ones bustin out excellents on the PFT. The military could apply your PFT percentage to your retirement benefits. Score 85 on the PFT then you recieve 85% of your retirement benefits. Then we could start PFTing retirees. If you fail the PFT then you lose your benefits. That would save the government some money. (SARCASM)

It was verified by the brief from our OGV who reviewed our products and talked to each pilot seperately. The flight lead in the other jet went above and beyond for this particular sortie. He called ATL center in advance and talked to every airfield manager at every tiny airport along our route. During the flight we stayed in contiuous contact with ATL center and they had us radar contact. We didn't deviate. OGV and AMC stan/eval said we were good to go. AMC stan/eval briefed the 4 star. Then he asked for the FDR. They did all of the work and he still didn't believe them(us). This was beyond verifying.

This is the best complaint I've logged. Make sure to watch the video. It's amazing how good this guy's guess was, we were in fact flying at 500AGL. This noise complaint ended up making it all the way to the AMC/CC. After they asked us what happened, (Squadron, OG and Wing support was excellent) the AMC/CC didn't like our answer that we followed all of our guidance. He directed AMC Stan/Eval to analyze our flight data recorder. Guess what, the FDR matched up with our statements. I love all of the trust that is given to aircraft commanders.

The tree huggers in New Mexico hate our low levels. I remember when I was stationed at Kirtland in the late 90's the wife and I would go on weekend trips to Taos and Santa Fe. A lot of the shops had signs on the doors that read something like "Another business that doesn't support military low altitude flights." Couldn't tell you what was on the inside of the store.

Jango, I don't doubt you're mission focused. The problem is that most support organizations hear more about their uniform and begin to believe that is the mission (a sharp uniform). Young troops should be first focused on getting their mission accomplished, then worried about a pretty uniform. That is rarely the case and I suspect you are the exception. And to answer your first question (sit down for this), yes, I tell young aircraft commanders that they will sometimes have to bend a few rules to get the mission done. That is why they are paid the big bucks. They have to understand the rules and know when and where it is appropriate to break those rules. I have never once evaluated a pilot based on their uniform. I pass my judgement based on their performance accomplishing the mission. Jango, military image may be the focus in your shoe world, I doubt you'll get many converts here...

You can't polish a turd, Jango. I'd much rather see a guy sporting sunglasses on his head getting the mission done, than someone maintaining a professional appearance telling me "it's not my job sir" or "sir, we close at 1300." It's all about perspective and it sounds as if your perspective is not mission focused. This lack of mission focus is one of the largest fundamental flaws of the Air Foce today. At least your boots look good as the mission fails, right?
