My only thoughts: It was going to burn down eventually. Best to do it on our own timeline with some semblance of a plan. While I don't think everything has been anywhere close to managed effectively in regards to massive cuts, I think it was the necessary shock to attempt to get the country back on track. All media talks about is tariffs we're imposing, no mention of the tariffs that were already imposed on us for a long time. It's going to be ugly but in the end I think it's necessary. Nobody is going to change anyone's thoughts on the internet. Just come here to see somewhat opposing viewpoints of mine. Sadly some of the opposing viewpoints have left and it's a bit of a chamber but
Its not even close currently. Blue Orgin hasn't published its price point but so far they have put 1 test satellite into LEO
Falcon 9: Approximately $2,720 per kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
Falcon Heavy: Around $1,500 per kg to LEO.
Electron Rocket: Approximately $37,500 per kg to LEO
Atlas V: Approximately $13,000 per kg to LEO.
Delta IV Heavy: Around $14,000 per kg to LEO
I'm all for making a giant cut in the fraud/waste/abuse of my tax dollars before we start talking about increasing or decreasing taxes. I don't think that's too much to ask. On the flip side, I've read/heard firsthand from a lot of the cuts with an ax that were made where they quickly learned those positions weren't what they thought they were and had to immediately ask for the people to come back. Let's take a breath and maybe start firing people with at least a scalpel instead of an ax.
When was the last time post Desert Storm where we weren't deployed consistently and randomly conducting combat ops from those locations? Has there been a time?
We have the benefit of knowing they collided with an airliner so it kind of taints the discussion. Talking to a bunch of the 1st heli alumni they said 50' over the river was pretty common. Crazy procedural setup.
Not many un-charted obstacles in that area I'm guessing. Whats the greater threat? In my experience, one off one on is probably a better option. I don't have any personal experience in that airspace so I'm spitballing.
