Best description: after spending 2 years flying T-38s in Northern California he gets to decide whether he’d like to pursue a U-2 assignment or some other path in life. CTP-only guys have a lot of street cred amongst the U-2 bros and are fully supported in whatever they want to do afterwards, especially if they want to try out for the U-2. They still have to complete the traditional interview process, but they’re all great pilots and already have the community’s respect. Maybe Huggy knows of a CTP a guy that didn’t get hired from a U-2 interview; if it’s ever happened it would’ve been many moons ago.

Protip: view in YouTube app/website so you can use the subtitle function. That dude’s Bay Area standard-issue voice is hard to listen to. The subtitles are spot on though, so it’s easy to see where YouTube’s algorithm learns its words.

No one thinks that. No lock is unpickable, but you sure as hell want one on your door.

Do congressional delegations get tax free when they visit a combat zone?

Google definition of weapon: a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage. a means of gaining an advantage or defending oneself in a conflict or contest. Definition 2 is why an aircraft without Definition 1 Weapons are considered Weapons Systems and have Weapons Instructors.

Air Force pilots aren’t Marine pilots. Marines have the rifleman-centric view bred into them. We’ve got a huge cultural divide between shooters and airlift/tankers in our service. There are a few gung-ho types in the MAF, but 10x more that are way more into good deals and airline prep. Which is absolutely fine, because there’s plenty of work to do for them right now without adding munitions into the mix. Hercs would be the only plausible option because other people have already paid to dev the hardware.

Does this work using full version Acrobat (the kind on AF computers)? https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/how-to/convert-word-excel-paper-pdf-forms.html?set=acrobat--fundamentals--pdf-forms

No no, let’s talk around it! If the classification guide says particular capes are unclass, then we can aggregate all those capes here and discuss their employment and weaknesses!

I always thought the Navy used little tankers because big ones don’t fit on the boat, and if the boat used jets that didn’t fit on the boat, they’d have a hard time justifying a boat altogether.

It’s the most relevant buzzword, though. A bureaucracy full of old GSs is a real problem for national security. -

Don’t forget C-2s and P-8s. Or maybe he’s a C-17 guy! -
Women, somewhat ironically, will straighten all this PC stuff out. When they sense a threat, they seek out protectors. When the nation and our existence seems threatened, they’ll be the first to demand men that defend them. The men’s attitudes lag a little, but the vast majority will adjust and go fight or risk not having a mate. IMO, it’s all just monkey group behavior.

America will adapt. Hipsters are just bottling up their rage right right now.

Yeah, that’s what it seemed like when I was there. I don’t blame them too much, there’s a lot to learn to be the boss of an international wide-body by age 26. AC upgrade happens before anyone is truly experienced; everyone seemed scared shitless to do anything out of the norm and “get violated” by some 2nd world ATC, “combat” or not. And then there’s this: https://mobile.twitter.com/Buzz6868/status/985033590466580481

LO tanker isn’t really worth the cost, unless it can also drop bombs, in which case it won’t be in AMC. That said, a tanker with defensive system and Link will be a requirement considering that every piece of an IADS is mobile and easy to hide. Since the timeline math really sucks for an OCA or strike guy that has to drive 30m each way to get gas, the tankers will have to be moved well inside their current zone of comfortability. ALR Low won’t be a thing. If we’re talking a no-shitter, losing tankers to enemy action will be disturbingly regular. I’m not sure if current tanker communities are willing or able to plan or execute in that environment. They’re all great Americans and will find a way, but it’ll be painful at the very least. I welcome spears that prove me wrong.

“That’s a fuckin excellent idea.” “That sounds like an excellent idea.” Syllables are running together because he’s talking fast, “like an” sounds like “fuckin”. When I hear it one way, it’s hard to switch to the other way, like an audio version of this Vasarely cube.

The KC-46 can’t fuel up to max gross; it’s about 20k under with full tanks. According to the internet.
-
Absolutely agree. The question I was answering was why do we want the -46 to replace the -135. Replacing the -10 with the -46 is dumb.
-
Boom, drogue, UARRSI, 3x pallets (18), 2x pax (100), low light refueling, datalink, 787 cockpit, and a defensive system in case your planner screwed up. All that in every jet. And while the choice to carry the same gas as a -135 seems buffoonerous, the 46 will be able to takeoff with that much gas way more often since the thrust to weight is much greater. Also, it’s not 50 years old, so more of them will take off with more fuel and cargo more reliably. So there’s the “why”.
-
While the small fuel tanks are an odd decision (along with no TRs and no boom window), it’ll be a great replacement for the 135. Not really for the 10. The peanut gallery likes to make fun of big projects that are behind schedule, but the truth is the jet will have some pretty Gucci capes. Not a single 46 driver will ever want to go back to the 135. Unless they suck at receiver AR.
-
The -135 will? Why’s that?
-
Amazing insight. What were my priorities? How are they different now and what would you recommend I change?
