I think everyone is trying to find a billion excuses here. They were staring through the hud, fixated at 1000' down the runway. They probably didn't take the time to look around, and if they did, they still need to do some homework to realize what MacDill should look like. They made a mistake and will probably pay for it, but I'm in no way shocked because of the quality of pilot the Air Force puts out these days.

Takeoffs are optional, landings are mandatory, landing at the correct airfield also optional

The Air Force lost the balls to call out shitty pilots a long time ago. Now they just wait until an FEB or SIB calls them out so no commander has to get his hands dirty. Pussification of the Air Force is well under way.

2 things: 1- Scroll your mfd all the way in and you see you're not over the faf. 2- Air Force pilots never look at sectionals, I did all the time when i flew civilian, if you look at the Tampa area, you'd know Peter O'Knight was right there. I don't want to be the ILS all the time panzy, but maybe visuals should be put on hold if you're unfamiliar with the field.

C-17 Pilot Charged in Training Jump Death
chim richalds replied to Fifty-six & Two's topic in General Discussion
I have to think that Allardice is involved in this somehow. I bet he's licking his chops at the prospect of crucifying this guy. I don't know you Axle, but you're in my prayers man, this is total bs. -
Weather Channel Anchor Says Fired Over Military Service

I heard Weather Channel canned her because she wasn't done with her Master's yet. SOS status unknown... -

Predator Follow-on
chim richalds replied to ygtbsm's topic in Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA/RPV/UAS/UAV)
They are all going back to their phase 3 aircraft to "warm" their hands up for a few weeks. All UPT dudes have been promised a plane if they want to leave, or they can choose to extend their stay in RPAs if they want to. Rumors are that prior MWS dudes who weren't recats may be released back into the wild soon. -
If the Raptor ends up being thrown to the bone-yard, this will be more embarrassing than Tonya Harding.

I think they TOTALLY get it (Suicides)
chim richalds replied to Napoleon_Tanerite's topic in General Discussion
Take it easy fellas, it's just one man's opinion. I'm interested to see your solutions. I'm sure it's related to the NFL and concussions in some way. -
I think they TOTALLY get it (Suicides)
chim richalds replied to Napoleon_Tanerite's topic in General Discussion
Gruesome subject, but it's kind of just a fact of life. When a huge amount of your workforce is 18-25 year old males under alot of stress, this will happen. Most of the guys I know who enlisted were kind of loaners who wanted to get out of town, or had no real education. If you look around other orgs with 400K people, I bet our suicide rate isn't that bad. It may be controversial, but people should ignore or ridicule those who commit suicide. I believe most people do it for attention, and what their "legacy" would be. If we didn't celebrate them, maybe they would think twice. Put a suicide counter by the gate instead of a DUI, and maybe it will change a few minds. -
Drone Pilots: We Don’t Get No Respect
chim richalds replied to HercDude's topic in General Discussion
Easy dude, most of us were forced to be here. Anyone who tries to stay in manned aircraft and then bitches about the job needs to check themselves. Most of us would love to be back out there, but this is what we've been told to do. If you want to join in on the banging, football and drinking then raise your hand the next time the must-fills come up. Otherwise, shut the f up. -

The Proposal I saw on the news is to ax 400 fighters and 35 "strategic" bombers. This is just the beginning, most of us are sheltered working for the gov't, but things are bad in the real world, and I do believe we will take a huge hit. UAV welcome letters to your inbox soon...

Crosswind- yes, our military has made it known that humanitarian support is more important than war-fighting, anybody who doubts that just hasn't been around enough. So, 5 things I hate the most about the Air Force: 1- Closed for training on (insert day here). 2- Sexual assault training. 3- The 10 different offices that you can complain to: ig, chaplain, meo, sarc, afrc what do these people do all day? 4- The term "standby to standby". 5- Senior Ncos, they usually have bad haircuts and no real purpose in life.

Air Force: "Your VSP request is denied based on critically manned career fields, now, prepare a RRF to compete to stay in." The fact that we all have to waste time on this needs to be exposed at the highest levels.

M. Obama's plane to aborts landing - controllers fired
chim richalds replied to AZwildcat's topic in General Discussion
No, he's too busy letting sex offenders out after 20% of their sentence while not releasing 500 pilots out of their commitment early. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2011/04/air-force-gurney-sentence-reduced-042111w/ -
