New LTs at UPT were already saying “this is the coolest job in he world! Too bad the AF sucks and I will be getting out in 10 years” as soon as they showed up. No one was saying that 10 years ago when I went through UPT. LTs are dumb, but they aren’t stupid.

With some of the very people responding, I have heard them talk about how the ship is sinking and the efforts to stop it have been pitiful. Put them on a Facebook page full of Sq, Gp and Wg commanders and leadership and they start talking about how “pretty darn good” things are. I am at a point where I don’t blame leadership anymore, I blame the idiot O-3s and O-4s who know how bad things are but would rather gain political capital by jerking off people in positions of perceived power.

Just FYI there is a huge circle jerk going on right now on the MAF mentoring Facebook page if you are into that kinda thing. Good news guys, apparently everything is going great now in the AF and it is 100% our fault that Lieutenants are now jaded. It’s crazy to me how fast we all turn into a bunch of pu$$y, yes men when talking to Generals. Also Guardian, Fingers does care according to everyone on the page.

I don’t know why it’s so hard to just say “we had an idea to try and make things better and we fvcked it all up. Sorry guys, we will do better next time” and then fix it and move on.

I don’t want to be cryptic, but I also don’t want to betray the trust of the person who told me. However I thought that it was put out here on BO as well. Suffice to say that an extra 200 promotees did not cause the extra 4 month delay. The fact that it took an extra couple weeks while other boards jumped it at the OSD should also tell you the AF isn’t being truthful about what they were trying to do.

Anybody else get the email from the AFPC 2-Star? He sent it out to all the Wing Commanders and outright LIES about the reason the board was delayed. He says it was due to a higher number of eligibles. Funny how just a 5% higher eligibility will extend a board by 4 months. Just goes to show that few senior leaders will just tell the truth and fess up when they screw up. Of course no one is gonna hold anyone accountable.

I’m guessing the list didn’t get pushed today. AFPC said late today or early tomorrow.

Just talked to Promotions at AFPC. The rumor is true, the CY-17D list is going to be pushed out to Wings later today. (At worst early tomorrow). Suspect a 19 June release.

That’s a good thought, except I don’t think you can draw too many conclusions from that number. The ‘07 guys we’re promoting at a rate of 250ish a month if I remember correctly. Although if that’s the case, I think 2,343 would be damn near 100%.

Not sure if it is on his radar yet, but that’s the only reason I can think of it getting stopped at the Deputy SecDef level. Not a good look for the AF.

I got a joke for ya. CY17D Majors board release date. In all seriousness, something is going on. I’ve never seen a board delayed this bad with ZERO explanation from our Senior Overlords.
