  1. Which I never do. I always put “zero balance” on the reasoning. I always feel like I win a small part of freedom with every DTS voucher.
  2. I heard Fall 2018 was the target but my info is 4 months old.
  3. Let’s be honest with ourselves here. You smarted off to someone who was trying to give you some advice and the rest of the group smelled blood in the water.
  4. It sounds like the board actually reviewed each record individually, hence the reason it took so long. Hoping for the best but not expecting much.
  5. Nah, but I ended every sentence with a red punctuation mark. i.e. “red dot”.
  6. I wish we would all get back on topic and reassure Duck that he will in fact be a twice passed over Capt.
  7. So how heavy are we talking here... buck-fity?
  8. I think I missed it in the past 6 posts that he posted. Who pissed in Mark1’s Cheerios again? Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy that BAH, we all get 1% less next year!
  9. Nah actually I moved to my #1 choice on my ADP short notice to help out the functional and be closer to my dying father-in-law. Best case scenario, I get out in 3-4 months. Worst case I end up spending the next 2 years in a nice location where my wife can be with her family. Win-win.
  10. Literally, this just happened to me as well. PCS’d in between boards.
  11. I have volunteered for the single guys many times in my career. The hot chick at the bar always bring the "bar-mom" with them. I have been pretty successful in running diversion so my single brethren can enjoy being single.
  12. Thanks man. I am pretty excited about additional authori-tie. (Cartman) Actually my life in the AF has been pretty awesome since I showed my cards. The best was when my ADO asked me to do something which was #1 a terrible idea, and #2 would have been a huge time suck on my part and I just said "Nah man. I ain't gonna do that". Then he asked me to supervise and make sure someone else did it to which I replied... "Nah brother, I ain't your guy, but I'll tell them you are looking to talk to them". (I am sure that will make some people on this board go ballistic on me, but seriously you don't understand the whole story) A week later he inquired how the job was going and I told him I had no idea. I guess he thought I was joking. The good part of this story is that I have flown a ton and actually contributed (debatable) to the mission. Life not caring about chasing down things that don't matter has been phenomenal. I have been able to go to work, do my job AND ONLY MY JOB, help out people who need help and then go home and be with my family. I am still holding out hope that I get good news in March, but even if I don't, I have 2 years left on my sentence and maybe just over 1 year if I get paroled for good behavior (unlikely). People have asked me if I would do it all over again knowing about the 100% promotion opportunity and my response is "hell yeah". As dumb as it may sound, I was able to tell the AF that I was unhappy with how they were running things and that I didn't want to play anymore. Yeah it may cost me about 6 months of O-4 pay, but the freedom that I gained has been well worth it. My wife told me the other day that she hadn't seen me this happy since I started flying.
  13. Hell they couldn’t see the massive airline hiring about to take place 3 years ago and kicked out a bunch of pilots, but they are already looking at 2033. I’m sure they got it this time.
  14. That was always by design brother.
  15. Thanks guys. I’m an inspiration to all, that you don’t have to be smart, good looking or talented to get here. Hell, you don’t even have to work hard.
  16. Y’all remember the climate surveys they “lost”? Watching Grosso tell everyone that even though they were all missing there was “nothing unexpected” in said surveys made me realize they really didn’t care about fixing the problem.
  17. Absolutely. The page is near worthless, and they rarely update it. However they did update it just a couple days ago and it still shows the O-4 board as having not concluded yet... I assume it’s true, which makes me wonder if they are sifting through trying to find the unlucky 200 or so people to pass-over (all without a PRF). They made it clear it wasn’t a 100% rate, just a 100% OPPORTUNITY. LOL
  18. Great point. I know of guys who came home after one-year remotes to kids who had attempted suicide, severe discipline issues and other side effects of Dad being in a war-zone for a year. Whenever I mention a “trip” my 8 year old immediately starts crying. It doesn’t help that I missed around 8 months of the first year of her life.
  19. It’s been over 2 full work weeks since the 100% to O-4 board met. Mypers “status of promotion boards” was just updated today and it’s still not showing that board as having been concluded. I find that hard to believe since they essentially could just rubber stamp the whole board. Wonder what the holdup is? You don’t think they are actually looking at the records of the people we are putting up for promotion? Cuz that would just be silly.
  20. Thank you. Exactly.
  21. Gotta be big Air Force behind this.
  22. The airspace limitations alone would make this plan unfeasible. Would be an awesome place for UPT though!
  23. I second the career impact for spouses. In fact the extra $100/mo doesn’t even come close. My wife has a Masters degree and is way more talented than I am. However moving every 3 years means she is pretty much starting over every PCS. I can’t even thing about how much money it has cost us to serve our country. I personally think single dudes should just be forced to live in the barracks, I mean since we are talking about what’s really best for the service right Mark1?
  24. 10 years ago, this would have worked even with the pay cut. All I am saying is that in this economy for pilots, the AF wants cheap fixes, and there ain’t none. There are ways to fix this thing, it’s just gonna cost some money, which the AF is too scared to lobby Congress to do, since this was truly all caused by the AF “management” in the first place and they would have to admit they made mistakes.
  25. From what I know, this has been approved and will be showing up at a UPT base near you... Highlights from someone in the know: -The pay as of now is not competitive. ~$100K/yr and from what I saw was a fairly flat pay scale, little incentive to stick around. -Ideally looking for fresh separated guys/gals, but I personally don’t see how they are going to entice them away from going the Airline route. Maybe thinking people will sign up just so they can fly and not deal with AD/ARC BS? Tough sell with low pay in my opinion. -AETC/CC has completely championed this idea from what I was told and wants it implemented at all UPT bases eventually. -God help us.
