  1. Why are they doing this? Any theories? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  2. Don't worry. Leading doesn't happen often in the Air Force. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. What an idiot. Selfie queen herself. Why isn't she held partially responsible for the VSP/RIF debacle of 2014? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  4. Any rumors on the release of the LAF O-4 board? Mypers hasn't been updated since 11 May. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  5. Dude right? If this had happened to a bunch of chicks, SARC/SAPR/JAG/Superman would have been out looking to bash some skulls. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  9. I don't know what they've told you, but they don't work that hard on the other side of the base. I've been waiting at the MPFs door waiting for them to unlock it while watching all 5 of them surf Facebook, meanwhile I need my CAC to work so I can actually do my job. Once the door was opened only 2 of the 5 started helping people. Support has completely forgotten that they aren't the mission. I don't need them to be the tip of the spear, but I need them to do their jobs. Holy thread derail. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  10. Every time you post I read it in a yelling voice and for a guy whose name is "hatedont" (what does that even mean anyway) you sure do have a lot of emo teenager angst. I haven't read anywhere in this thread that pilots are "better" or can do the job better than the non-rated officers across the base. I do think the AF has a lot of bloat and the Support side of the house doesn't really do a hell of a lot to support me or the actual no $hit mission. (Although I enjoyed Pacific Indian Asian Heritage month, wait, no I didn't because I was too busy flying) I actually think most of our pilots make $hitty Commanders and not for lack of trying. We really don't do a good job developing them like other services do. By the time a Soldier is a Battalion Commander, how many other Commands have they had where they are actually leading people (Officers/Enlisted)? Probably a minimum of two, one being as a Lt and once more as a Captain. The bottom line is it doesn't make sense to pay a dude $100k a year to be an O-4 Sq/CC just so they can stand up in the Wing staff meeting and say "nothing to report, Sir!" We need to develop better and more experienced Commanders and that starts at the O-1 level. Maybe then we wouldn't have as many of these dip$hit O-5/6/7s who end up getting plastered on JQP or who singlehandedly drive down retention in their Squadron. 11. Funny you should mention it... but yeah. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  12. Exactly. Unfortunately, Chiefs are a byproduct of the us vs them mentality. If Chiefs actually answered to Pilots and not some snot nosed support officer trying to be the next FGO/Yr we may be able to start the refocusing. I had a Mx Chief work for me back in the day and he was the best dirty uniform, wrench turning, war story telling, advice giver I could have asked for. Since we were on the same "team" it worked out great. A hell of a lot of our Chiefs (and O-5s/6s) have forgotten what team they play for. My Dad was a Marine Fighter Pilot Commander and actually fired 2 SgtMajs who weren't adequately taking care of his Marines. We need to do more of this in the AF. 13. What if even as a Commander of a non-flying unit, you could fly attached? Easy solution. The problem is that this is a see-saw, if we just let pilots fly and take no leadership or responsibility, we deserve whatever douche ends up floating to the top, dodging every flying opportunity along the way. Meanwhile all our flyers get passed over because their records can't compete and rightfully so, sorry. On the other hand the more non-flying queen wielding, bs jobs out there, the less retention. So we as an AF need to find that balance. It starts with making Command attractive again. I don't know about you, but when I was in Afrotc, I thought being a CC would be cool, being the best pilot in the squadron, the lead guy on night 1, etc... ha ha ha. Yeah right. All my Commanders who have been awesome dudes have not been the #1 pilot in the Sq. The bad ones flew only when they absolutely had to. I got a lot more awesome ideas to fix this mess, but I'm sick of hearing my voice bouncing off the wall that is upper management. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  14. I'm still sporting the originals I was forced to buy for ASBC. Definitely not flight boots and they are starting to resemble the black boots from 12 years ago. I got a pair issued from supply but they are uncomfortable and I don't want to spend any money on boots. Was just wondering if anyone had success getting a better pair for free from supply. 15. I disagree. I have seen some of my buddies get put in some truly screwed up jobs that seemed to be broken due to lack of care and watched them get back to something that was lean and worked, while getting rid of the extra bloat. I think you over estimate how little they actually do over there. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  16. What kind of boots can you get for free from supply? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  17. We do a terrible job teaching/giving pilots opportunities to lead. I am firmly against a Tech/lead track. I think a dual track system would only further breed problems from those on the "leadership" track. I know this is not going to be popular, but I think we get rid of a vast majority of Officer AFSCs. Mx officer should be a pilot, support should be a pilot, both LEADING the enlisted who are doing the j-o-b. How many times have you tried to get something done at MPF/Finance and eventually talk to the OIC, just to get some BS excuse which you know is just that Officer "protecting" her airmen? Imagine if it was a Pilot who was the OIC and he was once in your squadron. "Hey bro, your boy, Amn Snuffy told me he couldn't process my new cac because they were about to close and it would have pushed him past his 4pm exit time" After seeing what little my SOS buddies were actually doing, I realized that this was pretty much the way forward. Most hadn't been deployed and their biggest challenges were how to organize the next CGO Club Social. This would be a way to expand the "flying" opportunities while developing pilots and leaders who actually understand the plight (Mx) or laziness (some career fields come to mind, you can find them leaving base at 3pm on Tuesday) of our enlisted. I'm interested in what you guys think. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  18. If all goes according to plan and I am done by March 2018, it will delete 2 years and 2 months off my ADSC. I am expecting continuation, but as long as they don't change the up or out law I can deny continuation and separate NLT 6 months from notification. So barring stop loss or a change in title 10... 19. At least you have the additional 365s to look forward to! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  20. Please stop giving them these ideas... this is your chance to reach escape velocity and separate. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  22. I didn't think that commanders could ask for their people not to be continued. Is that a thing? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  23. Good news guys! The pilot shortage is over, or at least that's what I am assuming as all my buddies with "P"s got passed over! UFB! A couple of my non-rated friends with "P"s got promoted though... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  24. 15 year ADSCs are on the table, being billed now as 8 Active, mandatory 7 Reserve with no possibility of parole. What I see is a 12/3 or 10/5. I think StopLoss is inevitable, but they are trying to keep the cat in the bag. Just one rogue dumbass General speaking off the cuff was enough to start a panic and severe back pedaling. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  25. They just want to give the perception they are trying to fix the problem. This is all just a game of Russian Roulette for the AF brass. Just hoping it doesn't fall apart on their watch. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
