Typical AF... it's OUR fault retention is so low. WE aren't patriotic enough. Fvck them. They created this $hit and I am happy to watch the whole damn thing burn. The AF screwed up when they went from 6 year to eventually 10 year commitments. At 6-8 years, a typical pilot is finishing up his second tour. The AF had to make sure to retain pilots their whole career. The 10 year has bred laziness and lack of critical thought on how to keep people after their 10 year sentence is up. The AFs strategy hasn't even been "take care of dudes when they are 7-day opt eligible", but instead their strategy is "we don't negotiate with terrorists". Lol what a joke. They all get what they deserve. I only wish the @sshats responsible would be held accountable. People need to be lined up and shot for this $hit show. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

"Wait, we have planes at this base?" -overheard at Finance and MPFs around the country... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I think most Americans are just tired of the media attacking him all the time over everything. Ice Cream scoops, really? I was no fan of Obama, and got sick of the love obsession with the media, just as I would have been sick if it was all negative all the time like it has been for Trump. Not to get into this argument again, but not all SRs agree with that. My base doesn't even give out strats based on rank (#1 Capt, Maj, etc) but only CGO, FGO, job strats (ADO, Flt/CC) and finally IP strats. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Uh... I just wanted to take this time to say thank you to the Air Force, Gen Goldfein and all the other Generals for making our recruiting efforts so easy. Especially when you all paid so many pilots to get out in 2014. Those guys have been awesome employees. Out of respect to you guys, we asked them if they wanted to go back to the AF and they said "Fock no". Sorry. But good luck with your retention problems! Sincerely, - the airlines Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

This is an Air Force that rewards risk aversion. Hence the most risk averse rise to the true upper echelons. I think very few, if any, up there get it at all. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

The problem with the AF vs the Airlines is there is ZERO benefit to either organization to help the other. One is going to lose out and the Air Force is playing with a losing hand... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Exactly what I was thinking. How else are you gonna pick the next round of Generals if you only have to look at OPRs...

Any timeline on the above? Next years boards? The next O-4 board in Dec? This will take some time to iron out I hope. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I did the same thing as a Mx DO. The kids loved trying unsuccessfully to try and teach an officer to safety wire and turn wrenches. So when I told them I appreciate what they do, it seemed to mean more to them. Never saw the Sq/CC leave the office unless he was going to rub elbows with the Group. You may actually be my brother from another mother... I was adopted so it's possible... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I second this unfortunately. I spent my year casual as the DO for a Mx Tech Training Sq. The only person who outranked me was the SQ/CC as a Maj. I had around 500 Amn, NCOs, SNCOs and civilians reporting to me as a 2LT. The job was billeted for an O-3 but the person who was supposed to do the job was dealing with long term medical issues and I never even met them the whole year. The stuff I saw and dealt with shocks all my bros when we BS over beers. I'm talking getting drunk with hand sanitizer, gangbangs, amateur porn, suicidal airmen, kiddie porn and drug busts to name just a few. That's not to mention supporting the Perm Party guys and gals who made the squadron run. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Maybe ignorant question, is it common for most Commanders to let you know as soon as they know or to leave you hanging till public release? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I don't know why, but this is all just hilarious to me. Thanks for taking the bullet and speaking out to the clueless above us. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I remember CAP incentive rides at my detachment. It was designed to target ROTC kids with no flying experience to see if they were interested. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Most the WG Execs I know are too old for this program. Exceptions exist, but of the year groups they are looking to crossflow, the T-38 drops were pretty good. Makes me wonder just what kind of talent they are going to be able to scrape up. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

It's all a test to see how those 8 will do. Judging by how AMC defines "success" I expect around 4-6 Gp Execs get slotted for this and the program ends up crashing and burning just like all the higher ups are hoping it will. But at least they can say "we tried!" Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I know of two Wing Commanders who were Heavy to Fighter, but that was a different Air Force. The fighter WG/CCs and fighter porches can't even take care of their own guys who are punching left and right after sh!t deal after sh!t deal gets handed to them. How much do are they going to take care of a heavy guy who they don't even really want. Be realistic people. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
