While it is true that only SAF/PC is the deciding authority, I haven't seen anyone (11X) outside of 12 months approved unless that person was passed over. The functionals are telling people outside of 6 months is still a long shot. I know of a guy who was disapproved asking for around 6 months... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Good on you brother. Admitting it is the first step to recovery or so I hear. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Oh FAIPs. What a completely mixed bag. I have worked with current FAIPs who have the SA to know where their expertise stops and others tell me what life is going to be like once they get to the CAF. I love working with 90% of the FAIPs at my base, but I have directly watched the FAIP rack and stack and seen how screwed up the whole process can get. It sounds like it worked out in your favor this time. It could have very easily gone the other way, believe me. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I hope I didn't come across as bashing the Buff. My best friend got his start out of there and I even named my own kid after him. I think most peoples problem with the Buff is the remaining bases, not the airframe or the mission itself. Minot seems to be a tough pill to swallow for the married and the single. Not that this is any comfort, but what do you expect? We can't even get our end strength numbers correct, much less select people for airframes at the right time and in the right proportions. FAIPs getting screwed on the FAIP drop is nothing new. People in the Air Force getting screwed through the assignment process happens all the time. I've had Studs deserve fighters more than a shitty FAIP and get sent to some other less desirable assignment on his list, while watching a FAIP who shouldn't even get a Buff go to a fighter. Life isn't fair and your desires only matter if it lines up with what the Air Force desires for you. I don't see this changing either unfortunately. Having said that I know several B-52 guys who have gone on to B-2s, WIC and ended up making the best of a situation they didn't deserve. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I thought you were going to say we don't want or need people with any mood/depression/anxiety/polar/mental issues because we already have too many in senior leadership. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Not sure about this particular guy but "We need good dudes in every community." has been the prevailing excuse from the 3 Star. One of the WG/CVs called up and asked why so many bombers for FAIPs if we are so short of 11Fs and every student with a pulse is getting a Viper. It's better to know when your younger how fvcked up AF people management is rather than after you've invested considerable time. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Question for the masses. Wife is dragging me and the kids on a cruise to the US Virgin Islands, Bahamas and Tortula (sp?). My blue personal passport has expired but I still have a good Red passport which I have never had to use. The cruise says you need a passport or birth certificate/ID. Any problem using my Red passport... page 27 says "The bearer is abroad on an official assignment for the United States government." Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Panchbarnes shack. The system rewards risk aversion, so what would benefit the O-6 to O-8 to actually make those very simple yet game changing decisions you highlighted. Simply telling the E-9 that he is still a Sergeant would be a start but they would get their feelings hurt and then a bunch of E-9s wouldn't have anything to do all day and probably commit suicide... I think the real question is not why people don't want to go to school, but rather why do people not want to command. Having worked directly for Sq, Gp and Wg Commanders it's amazing how little power they actually have over their own people. Give the right Commanders back their power and watch the good guys want to stick around because they think they can make a difference. As long as people see their Commanders wasted time and effort, few will want to be in Command, except for those using it as a stepping stone to another level. And then they should shove it up their own... that way they know what's in store for them in Big Blue. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I heard all 38 FAIPs were getting Bombers to help out that community so that the younger FreshoutaUPT kids still have 10 year sentences...er... commitments in fighters... J/k Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

They selected 1,931 which is a little less than the last couple boards. If they get through the list in 9 months in time for the next board, expect around 214 a month. The list should be exhausted by September. Next board pinning on in Oct if not sooner. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Holy Hell... what a crock of sheet. That's a lame excuse for a coverup. "Well we just didn't get around to looking at it" "There's nothing controversial in it... pinky promise" "We think our peeps are just over surveyed..." I know how me and all my bros answered it... honestly, with the unvarnished truth of our view of the Air Force and its senior leadership. I guess we hurt their feelings that no one wants to be in their stupid little club anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Where does health of the member come in to play then? Isn't that what we were told? The Air Force cares about you. They want you to be healthy and happy. Surely they didn't use the PT program as a lazy way to "fix" the end strength numbers... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

It only makes sense. The stricter PT standards all came upon as a force management tool during a period of high retention. Now that retention sucks, regardless of what the other article says, it's time to relax the standards... give me a freaking break... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
