  1. The MPs in the Marine Corps are just as bad if not worse than the SF of the Air Force. Imagine an 18 year old with a badge, a car, an M-16 and a sense of authority. All in all, it worked out. I doubt anyone wanted to get into a tussle with a dude pointing an M-16 at their head. You aren't going to physically restrain him. He did order him to leave them alone and to bring it up with his commander. Besides that, what would you have done?
  2. I have Nav friend at Randolph right now and he is EXTREMELY excited about the U-28 mission and his role as a Nav. I think everyone has already said it, but talk to some people who are doing the job, not some bitter O-6 Detachment Commander.
  3. Late reply to this, but my Dad as a Marine Colonel, harrier pilot and SQ/CC, had a harrier crash in his squadron and the pilot didn't get out. He opened the access gate on HIS SQUADRON's property so that they could do recovery and some other stuff. Some Lance Corporal MP tries to arrest my Dad and his Capt for opening the gate. So my Dad told him that they had a casualty and he can pound sand. The Marine persists so my Dad says "Do you see who's name is on that building? That is my name, which means you can do whatever you want, but you aren't arresting me or my Marines. If you want to shoot me, go ahead, I just hope you have a damn good explanation to the Group Commander as to why you shot one of his SQ/CC." The MP sent in a formal complaint to his boss and my Dad's boss. The difference between the AF and the Marines: The leadership backed my Dad for his actions and didn't monday morning quarterback what he did. The MP was told to STFU and do his job.
  4. Something like this happened with me for SABC. I clicked through the slides, but when I got to the test, I was going to get the questions wrong and then get the right answer and redo. Unfortunately, it just said I failed the test and didn't give me any of the right answers. I went out of the test and it said 100%... so I printed my certificate and moved on to more important things... like... MY JOB!!!
  5. New article about the 35. Luke pilots selected for F-35 Joint Strike Force initial cadre by Senior Airman TONG DUONG 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs 1/23/2009 - LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Two Airmen of Luke Air Force Base's F-16 Fighting Falcon family were selected Jan. 9 to become part of the initial training cadre for the F-35 Lightning II. Lt. Col. Stephen Pieper, 310th Fighter Squadron director of operations, was selected to be a squadron commander and Maj. Chad Lewis, 56th Operations Support Squadron assistant director of operations in weapons and tactics, was selected to be one of the first instructor pilots for the Air Force's newest fighter aircraft. Since only a handful of test pilots currently fly the F-35, the Falcon duo will need to learn to fly the aircraft from them, Major Lewis said. "This initial qualification training ... will take approximately two to three months," he said. "Once we're qualified, we'll be responsible for training the next pilot in line. The United States Air Force plans to buy more than 1,700 of these aircraft, so we have a lot of pilots to train." The two aviators will be part of the 10 initial instructors in the F-35 training program and will be responsible for training all the subsequent instructors. Along with FTU instructor responsibilities, the initial cadre will develop tactics and assist with systems development in future F-35 variants. They will also be developing methods of force application that will revolutionize warfare, the major said. To find suitable applicants to become initial cadre, the Air Force sought pilots with A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-16, F-22 Raptor and F-15E Strike Eagle experience. Colonel Pieper and Major Lewis submitted applications through their chain of command to be assigned a rank order number. Once the applications left the base, they were reviewed by a selection board chaired by Maj. Gen. Anthony Przybyslawski, Air Education and Training Command vice commander. The selection board evaluated multiple criteria including flying hours and fighter experience. Major Lewis believes these areas gave him an advantage above other applicants. "I am a weapons instructor course graduate with more than 1,500 F-16 Fighting Falcon and 500 instructor pilot hours," he said. "I also have combat experience in Operations Northern Watch and Iraqi Freedom. I think these are some of the biggest things that helped me get selected." Along with Major Lewis' background, Colonel Pieper and the others bring similar combat experiences to benefit future Lightning II pilots they take under their wing. "The combat experience that a number of us have will prove valuable as we attempt to marry the additional capabilities the aircraft bring and the tasking the Air Force has for us to fill and uphold," Colonel Pieper said. Though Colonel Pieper will be filling a different position than his current job, he is confident his experience will transition well as an F-35 squadron commander. "As a director of operations, I know how scheduling meshes with aircraft and airspace availability," he said. "The leadership skills that I also possess will come in handy down the road." For Major Lewis, the opportunity the new assignment provides is two-fold. "One is to be among the first pilots to fly the F-35," he said. "Number two is to be involved in the development of a program that will have a long lasting impact on future airpower application." There are challenges associated with any new weapon system, he said, along with opportunities. "This aircraft and weapons system is drastically different than any other in the Air Force," Major Lewis said.
  6. The Civil Air Patrol is not the military. Sorry man, I couldn't resist. I appreciate your service.
  7. CAVEMAN, you are leaving your mark all over this forum! First the Obama thread then here!
  8. Want to know how to fight this kind of war? Read "Devils Guard". Unfortunately, policy won't let us fight like this.
  9. Doing R&D after the war starts is how the Army manages things (no dissing there, learned it during Army History back in college, taught by an Infantry Officer). They are always playing catch up. They get the job done, but it costs a lot of lives and money that way.

    USAA

I remember when I first signed up for USAA auto insurance that they were telling me that they did things that other companies don't do for the military. Something about insuring your vehicle if you ship it overseas and whatnot. Is this worth paying an extra $300/year? After reading about all the money everyone is saving on here, I checked Geico and for me they are $300 cheaper with identical coverage. USAA makes it sound like if you don't have them, you will have problems PCSing overseas and whatnot. Any thoughts or experiences? "I was with GEICO. I called USAA, and their quote was so much lower." - Gene Atencio, Member Since 2001 Found the quote above on the USAA website.
  11. No TBAS score. The TBAS, Pilot AFOQT and Flight hours are thrown into a super-secret formula to come up with your PCSM. They have been known to mess up on occassion...
  12. Now they are triple posted, but sometimes it is worth it and needs to be seen again!!!

    USAA

I am still undecided about USAA. They have been good to me, but I have had a couple weird things happen lately. I found a used '92 Jeep Wrangler through their vehicle search site listed at $5,700. So I contacted the dealer using their site. I found the same Jeep (Identical VIN and everything) on another car site for $3,400. The dealer called me and I asked him how firm he was on the price. He said he would drop the price $700 for me because I was a USAA customer bringing it down to $5,000. I told him I saw it listed on another site for $3,400 and he just played dumb and never called back. USAA promises that you will never pay above KBB value for the vehicle...
  14. Now if she was nekkid I would understand...
  15. Well, I can't really talk about the process, but I can talk about the issues that one of my friends encountered when he transfered. First of all, this guy is top notch. Good grades, great PT scores, and the such. He transfered as a Junior and was thrown into the supply shop. When it came time for rated boards, it was obvious he wasn't going to get a pilot slot, because all he had done was run the supply shop. The Commander had no clue what kind of person he was. Well he ended up getting a Nav slot and then he was given the MSG. The dude rocked it like no one else before and then was begged by the CoC to take the position of Vice WG/CC to keep things running. He shot up in class ranking from around 25 to 3 in a period of 3 semesters. Fortunately due to some shrewed drug deals, our CC got him bumped up to strike nav, but everyone in the class realized that he was given the short stick due to his transfer. Long story, but hopefully you get the point. Not saying this will happen to you or anyone else for that matter, but it happened to him and he was a hell of a guy. But I understand the need to go some place where you are happy and where you want to be.
  16. My AFROTC/CC told me back in the day that he could drop me from my ENJJPT slot. I am not sure it happens a whole lot, but you might want to ask your CoC.
  17. Ha ha. No seriously. It just looks out of place. I mean it is just a normal cheerleading picture in the middle of various porn pictures.
  18. I think this only goes to show that the AF is really run by crab people.
  19. Yeah I saw the pic posted here. Am I not seeing the whole picture? Is there something that has been cropped?
  20. Maybe I missed it, but what did this girl do to end up on a porn site?

  22. Wait... so he spent $20,000 on her, he isn't married to her, and he still can't get some?
  23. I saw a Youtube video of one of his flyovers in a single engine private plane. I can't remember what kind of plane it was though.
  24. Toro, you are a man wise beyond your years!
  25. SHUT UP AND GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN, ROBOT HOE! Statement covered under Privacy Act of 1974...
