Awesome. Thanks a million. So I guess there is nothing we can do before we get to ASBC? If not, it is no big deal, I can get my parents to keep our stuff in their garage for a month or so. Thanks again!

Wow Kayla, thats good info. So if I am going straight from commissioning from ROTC (9 May) to ASBC (17 June) then it might be possible for me and my wife to move in early to my UPT (15 Nov) base? I run a dorm on campus and they will be kicking us out May 13, so I will be homeless. Dates: 9 May Commission 17 June ASBC 24 Aug IFS 13 Nov Sheppard, AFB, UPT
  4. So what I am getting is base housing for married guys is pretty crappy?
  5. I got one of those Academy appointments out of ROTC as a Junior... I turned it down when I realized they expected me to go to schools another 4 years. Thanks... but no thanks.
  6. Colorado Springs = Six Flags Over Jesus Seriously...
  7. FWIW, I totally agree that this guy got what he deserved, but why use a shotgun when a rifle will do the trick? I just feel bad for the rest of the people reciting the Airman's Creed. Toro and M2 are right, it definitely will fix the problem, and I bet it will be awhile before any of those Airmen mouth of to anyone. Thanks for answering so quickly.
  8. This guy needed to be dealt with, but did it call for a public "flogging"? I realize I don't know the whole situation, but is this typical in the AF?
  9. Yeah, at least we are getting closer to being a military service. Now, what to do with all those fatasses...

Think about it, to get into the academy you have to start thinking about it as a junior in High School or earlier. A lot of ROTC guys and gals get into the program their sophomore year of college, then there is OTS who get in AFTER they graduate college. There are definitely different mindsets for each commissioning source. I am not saying they want it more, they just figured it out a little bit earlier than the rest. Just an opinion and there are always exceptions, but I think there is some truth in it.

ROTC has tools too. Usually the guys who come home DG from Field Training. For some it teaches them how to stab people in the back to get what they want. For some others it makes them feel like they are somehow better than everyone else, and the Cadre just reinforce their egos. We had a senior last year (DG, WG/CC, ENJJPT), who everytime one of his classmates or anyone tried to speak to him, he would go off on some tangent on leadership or being a fighter pilot and speak down to you the whole time. He got ENJJPT and thought he was the Shiz and would come up to AS300 pilot selects and say "Well the good thing about ENJJPT compared to where you are probably going to go to UPT, is that I am going to be a fighter pilot". Long story short, he almost fails out of IFS, with a tail strike on landing. Great job man. Great job. Point is whether they are AFA or ROTC, if they are tools, the rest of the AF world is going to sort them out.
  12. Wow. Haven't heard anything about this, but then again our NCO has a habit of letting us know we need to do something 3 days after we already missed the suspense. So what is the purpose of this? SERE 101 before you actually get to SERE School?
  13. I don't consider that hijacking, that was hilarious.
  14. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the input.
  15. I have heard that a lot of Air Force pilot communities have a lot of social drinking occasions. In light of this, what happens when an officer or anyone for that matter doesn't drink for religious or other personal reasons? Thanks!

His son is an Air Force Colonel and AFROTC Detachment Commander somewhere. He was the CC at my Field Training Unit and would tell us a lot of his father's history after warrior runs. Thanks for the information!
  17. Wow... you dug pretty deep to find this one... Does this mean... Nevermind. Don't ask don't tell. On a side note, I am pretty tired of all the PC crap that has infested society...

I agree, I believe that if you aren't proud to wear your uniform in public or at a formal occasion then you need to reexamine your decision to be in the military. It does bother me that no matter where you go, there are Marines are Soldiers in uniform parading their uniform while the Air Force is embarassed to be seen in uniform. Why do you think this is?
