Here’s one for y’all... My retired parents need to downsize from their house and I’m trying to get them to move closer to me. My dad was a Marine Vet in Desert Storm and I need to get him applied for VA Disability. They bought their house via a VA loan for $375k four years ago. They already have a family from their church who wants to rent the house for around $2,850/month. The only other income they have would be his Military retirement and I’m guessing Social Security (They are 66, but I haven’t asked them if they are pulling that yet). I found a townhome for $280k right down the road from me. With the new VA limits and law changes, what does the rough math look like? This is all taking place in Alabama. Thanks! 6 months for me with Palace Front. I emailed for an extension and was granted a 1 year extension. Pretty easy process. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app -
Yeah I failed mine too 14 years ago or so. The tech said it was the highest failed item on the test. I don’t recall what the retest involved but I can tell you it was SUPER easy. I have never had depth perception issues. Once I found out it was always 2, 3 or 4 and never 1 or 5, it made life a lot easier and I never failed again. That’s a really good question that I wish I had the answer to. I think a lot of it boils down to society and this entitlement attitude everyone seems to have. I know in my case the mentality was you owe me this, I am entitled to this. She never wanted to work and stayed at home by her choice. Even when the kids started school she was happy just sitting on her ass and going out with friends shopping all the time. Whenever I mentioned her potentially working she always had an excuse of how she was so overloaded, even though the laundry was always piled up at home, she never cooked dinner, and the house always was messy as $hit. If you ever do have to go to court you will soon find out all about sexual equality. Us men do not get a fair shake most of the time. Even with all the damning evidence that I had and the fact that our kids hate her and don’t want to live with her it was still in my best interest to settle with her out of court. If you would have flipped the script and I was the chick I would have easily had full custody and not had to pay her a dime. But yeah equal rights for women. Fcvk that. Let’s be honest women always fare better in court in almost all cases whether it’s an accused rape or simple divorce. Rant over. I am actually doing fine but I still feel like the court didn’t do justice for my kids. If I was just one case that would be one thing but I have met more and more fathers who have been screwed by the court system. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

This is spot on and exactly what my lawyer recommended. I was scared for my life the past year. Sucks to be a prisoner in your own home. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Had one of my old Commanders on my jumpseat, he had just separated from the AF and was going through training. He told me that during his 2 year Command tour he didn’t PCS a single Major. 100% separated. Glad we fixed the pilot crisis. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I definitely have more to tell, but unfortunately due to some recent developments, this thing isn’t over. Good for me and the kids, bad for her. As far as the military retirement, we were married for 12 years but she didn’t care about it. It was obvious she just wanted cash right away. So I get to keep 100% of that. That was the biggest shock. With the evidence I had, this age of “equality” and the fact the kids didn’t want to be with her, it was shocking to see how I was the one who was on the defensive. I will say that some states are better on men than others... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Just got word today actually that the divorce is final and the judge signed the final judgement. There is so much to tell and I’m at a loss of where to start. The good news first. I got 50/50 custody of my kids through mediation. When it all came down to it all she really wanted was money. If we would have gone to court in our county in Florida I would have gotten reamed. I got unlucky and we got assigned a pro-mommy judge. So glad we settled out of court. The craziness is enough to write a book on, and maybe one day I will. During mediation, my lawyer asked me if I knew what “Borderline Personality Disorder” was. He said that my ex definitely has it. That actually answered a lot of questions I had about what the heck happened and I’m 100% convinced this is the case. Life is sooooo much better now. I didn’t realize how miserable me and the kids were. Now that I have my own place and my own life, I feel 100% free. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Second this. A while back at Sheppard personal firearms were being taken out of the armory by SF and used on the range then returned without being cleaned. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

So am I. I ended up having to kinda be a jerk to my lawyer. I was supposed to have a Final Judgement on the 25th, he screwed up the paperwork and forgot to put in there that my ex could change her name and then I think he just put it on the back burner since he already had my money. I called him up and told him I had retained a new lawyer and he all of a sudden started working again. Told me it should be done this week, even if he has to hand deliver paperwork to the judge. Found out something totally ridiculous. If you have been in AROWS lately pushing through AFTPs you will notice that you can now push 24 in a quarter. I was trying to figure out why 8 of my AFTPs didn’t get paid even though they had been completely approved through my OG/CC. Went by finance and was told that it had been rejected by the pay system and we still have to open CMS cases to go past the 16 allowed under the old reg. Seriously, WTF? Yep. I am one of those guys. Flew 38s and got caught up in some of the worst drops since the bank happened. Some of my buddies never flew a manned USAF aircraft after pilot training. Still an awesome career path but don’t have high expectations and you won’t be disappointed. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

All these will differ from unit to unit but for my KC-135 Guard unit... 1) as much or little as you want. We only fly 4 days a week but theoretically you could hop on a 2.0-4.0 flight all 4 days. Right now there isn’t much competition for stick time. 2) We have a rule that you must live within the state but we haven’t enforced it. Most of our airline guys live one state over at their airline hub. No one is gonna care unless you start turning red on currencies. 3) We are doing 60 day deployments so that we all get mob protection at 1 to 5. So it ends up being 90 day orders (60ish days gone) and then untouchable for the next 450 days. Most guys are able to deploy on a 60 day once every two years. You didn’t ask but it should be part of your questions when you start looking at units. We are not doing any volunteering for additional trips or taskings except for an occasional good deal trip now and then. 90% of our Squadron is Delta, Southwest or FedEx so it’s hard to fill those trips. Our younger guys are all sitting as GS-13s making a ton of money while trying to build hours. It’s cool because our old guys are happy and our young guys are happy. The leadership has done a good job trying to keep the good deal Guard going. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Quick question about backlogging AFTPs in last Fiscal Year. I’m having some issues with HARM jacking up my records and long story short I will probably need to file AFTPs for August-September but after 1 October. Is there any issue with this that any of y’all know about since it would be FY20, but I’m filing stuff for FY19? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app -
