    Cross Fit

I just got my pawns on a copy of P90X so I am gonna start that once I get back from ASBC.
  4. Glad to see someone takes it seriously. I can't imagine the kind of shit storm would accompany that verdict here. ACLU would be all over that case like a fat kid on a cupcake.
  5. Hope the pilot got out. Maybe this will wake up some people and realize that attrition will hit the Raptor force just like every other airframe, making that 182* number even more scary.

    That is pretty damn gay...
  7. Oh yea, not sure if I mentioned it: A camelbak or a backpack with a built in camelbak (better option) is practically manditory. I was hating life with a web belt, 1 quart canteen, and a 1 LITER pouch. Any pattern camelbak (I was told) is okay at ASBC. DCU, ABU, BDU, sage, black, hell even ACU is gravy. You will enjoy life much better with one of those.
  8. Rumor mill says they are adding combatives and other stuff similar to the updates that ROTC field training went through. Expect bright orange rubber ducks and an extra week in tent city. What kinda sucks the big one is that they claim 3 sets of utilities are "manditory." So cheers to dropping another hundo on a uniform I am going to wear for 2 months and then let collect dust. Also "cold" weather gear...I am definitly NOT dropping $250 or so bucks on a Gortex ABU jacket. Gonna suck that up and enjoy the chill if the weather goes south. https://asbc.au.af.mil/asbcclothing.htm#field And just read this little goodie: THUPER!!!
  9. There is a torrent out: https://www.mininova.org/tor/2322481
  10. There is a GAU-8A barrel from an A-10 at the O-club in Columbus.
  11. I haven't been able to find a torrent anywhere yet. :( Hopefully one comes out soon!
  12. Damn, that is moving.
  13. Watching the unemployment percentages for February and Aerospace/DOD contractors are getting something like a 27% lay off. I am sure axing the -22 and other airframes, development, etc will only steepen the spiral we got ourselves into. The KC-X contract would probably really really help Boeing out since I believe all the airlines are bailing on their orders. Hell to keep some of our very limited manufactoring capability alive I am actually beginning to think a new Air Force One isn't so bad. Take the 5.2 Billion Obama was gonna give to Acorn and use it to actually keep these people working!!!!
  14. Oh, well good. The other forum I am on is generally pretty credible about posting articles, so I just took it at face value. Sorry for posting BS!
  15. Military to Pledge Oath To Obama, Not Constitution Conservative News and Reporting "News for the Rest of Us" Michele Chang Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is extremely frustrated with orders that the White House is contemplating. According to sources at the Pentagon, including all branches of the armed forces, the Obama Administration may break with a centuries-old tradition. A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution. "The oath to the Constitution is as old as the document itself." the spokesman said, "At no time in American history, not even in the Civil War, did the oath change or the subject of the oath differ. It has always been to the Constitution." The back-and-forth between the White House and the Defense Department was expected as President George W. Bush left office. President Obama has already signed orders to close Guantanamo and to pull combat troops from Iraq. But, this, say many at the Defense Department, goes to far. "Technically, we can't talk about it before it becomes official policy." the spokesman continued. "However, the Defense Department, including the Secretary, will not take this laying down. Expect a fight from the bureaucracy and the brass." Sources at the White House had a different point of view. In a circular distributed by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, the rationale for the change was made more clear. "The President feels that the military has been too indoctrinated by the old harbingers of hate: nationalism, racism, and classism. By removing an oath to the American society, the soldiers are less likely to commit atrocities like those at Abu Ghraib." "We expect a lot of flak over this," ! the clas sified memo continues. "But those that would be most against it are those looking either for attention or control." The time frame for the changes are unknown. However, it is more likely that the changes will be made around the July 4th holiday, in order to dampen any potential backlash. The difference in the oath will actually only be slight. The main differences will be the new phrasing. It is expected that the oath to the Constitution will be entirely phased out within two years. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Oooooooooooo boy...So there is going to be a private police force or whatever Obama wants to call it. And now this? This goes a little too far in my book.
  16. Gotcha. Yea I agree, like the Navy retiring the F-14, A-6, and trying to retire the EA-6B thus trying to do every mission with just one air frame. The F-18 is a great multirole aircraft, but it doesn't excel in any one area. The A-6 could carry more ordinance as a strike aircraft, the F-14 could kick more ass further away as an intercepter, etc. Just seems that in todays lets do more with less military aircraft have to serve more than 1 role or they wont be considered. The F-22 couldn't just stay being an air superiority fighter, so they had to test it out with dropping JDAMs (which surprisingly did work).
  17. The USAF and DOD did have a fly off for both the JSF and the 5th Gen fighter. The YF-22 vs the YF-23 and the X-35 vs X-32. Do you not remember Boeing's hideous JSF "Guppy" concept? I have never heard of the F-22 and the F-35 being compared heads up by our DOD. The Australians kept saying they wanted the F-22 instead of the F-35 but quickly changed their mind now. Basically its only the people who aren't involved in the process that keep thinking the F-35 is a turd and the F-22 can do its job better. And the YF-17 was always twin engined, it was based off the F-5 to begin with. Where are you getting your information from?
  18. As long as the Marines still operate the pocket carriers (forgot what they are called) they will need the STOVL capability. Wikipedia informs me that are Tarawa class amphibious assault ship (wouldn't dare use the AAS acronym). So as long as Marines still fancy using those ships they will want the some fixed wing support on it. I'd be interested to hear what other countries are buying the -B model. Since Britain doesn't have full sized carrier either I would think the -C isn't an option for their Navy.
  19. 108 airframes? Damn! Didn't think any branch of the military could get that many of a plane. I am surprised the Navy isn't getting 10 and told to make it work, because thats what I seriously expected.
  20. Did you see Obama's facial expression? And the touch on the arm. I thought it was hilarious though, but then again I am way too un-PC to be a politician.
  21. More pen pockets in our next non functional utility uniform...which will also have built in reflective material...but we will still need a reflective belt anyway.
  22. I like how it isn't highly mentioned how 1 in 3 Gitmo prisoners who are released are recaptured or killed fighting US troops. I am betting the other two just haven't been caught yet also. Fact of the matter is the people in Gitmo aren't there because they threw a shoe at POTUS, they are there because they got caught planting IED's or shooting at US troops. These people aren't innocent.
