Customs and Border Protection Air Interdiction Agent
MD replied to RW_LEO's topic in General Discussion
Sound like you'd make a good Sup.......or acting Sup, since everyone from the top down in the agency seems to be acting positions and not designated to the actual jobs in this agency. -
Customs and Border Protection Air Interdiction Agent

Tucson has a grave shift. San Diego may also, at least they used to. A number of branches used to run graves, now even if they wanted to, they don't have the manpower to. -
Looks like there's an arrest warrant out for him for felon in possession of a firearm as well as felony immigration violations now. Had a BP agent in Tucson sector just the other day attempting to apprehend a group of 6 illegals on the west side of the Babo mountains. One of them fought with him as he was trying to cuff him up and the illegal managed to get hold of the agent's gun. Another agent there on scene shot and killed the illegal. This is the third assault on agents this past month that resulted in injury to an agent. And there was the death of the Van Horn station agent just the other week. Still dangerous as ever out there.

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
MD replied to 189Herk's topic in General Discussion
Sure about that? Many Guard and especially Reserve units have become mini-AD, same queep and BS, just with no PCSing. The ARTs in my unit who are being slammed with AD-mandated crap overflowing their plate, and looking to leave at the first good opportunity they get, attests to that. Then again, the ART program is its own problem in and of itself, but that's another story. -
Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???

You're surprised? I called it pages ago in this thread that Goldfein was as worthless as his older brother was, with about the same amount of integrity. This is just another layer. -

Goldfein indeed went after said MC-12 pilot in a stupidly produced video that was mandatory queep for crews to watch who were coming into the AOR. Goldfein basically ripped the guy apart in that video, before that guy had is 'day in court' and was essentially cleared with mitigating factors. That just showed that Goldfein was a standard flag-level politico, same as when he was the 49th CC. He talks a good game of integrity, yet conveniently leaves out his brother's disgraceful involvement in the jumbotron contract scandal when he was the AWFC/CC at Nellis. He's as much a part of the problem as any other high ranking member of the AF corporation. Ive never much cared for flag-level dynasties. And yeah, said MC-12 pilot is doing just fine. -
"Shortened to 6 months" just sounds weird, remembering back to when the A-model Hog FTU was 90 training days

Springfield, OH too.

Probably QF-100s there at the time too. Was QF-106s still around in my time. I don't believe the Holloman wing ever got C/D model Eagles. If I remember, they only ever had A/Bs before those left and the 117s came in from Tonopah.

Have the Germans started moving out as had been announced a little while back? In terms of are those the facilities they're fitting two squadrons into? Pretty sure the existing two are in the old 117/22 hangars and ops squadron facilties west of 16/34, though I haven't seen for sure. Or are they occupying the old LIFT wing/squadrons building that the 20th used to use?

Just ask the North Vietnamese how their Christmas time went in 1972

Not justifying it in the least. Am pointing out that the idiocy is nothing new. Just a different flavor that the corporation produces. Enjoy.

No doubt. Guys who were FAIPs at say Willie, but less than 2 years or so, got PCSd to another UPT base when Willie was closing to finish out their FAIP tour. But because they got a paid PCS, their FAIP tour was rehacked to another 3 years, for a total of 5 to sometimes nearly 6 years as a FAIP. Or UPT studs. How about having something happen that would result in a wash back, medical or something, but instead gets made a washout; because there are no classes behind you to wash back to?

His demos in the Saberliner were quite a sight to see too.

Yes. The '75-'77 models retired immediately post Desert Storm, the Euro 1 green ones, are mostly gone. There's some still remaining, but not like there used to be. Granted, these particular jets are pre-LASTE with no current updates of any kind and mostly picked apart, but there are some being sent to scrapping with many MICAP parts still on them and very useful. Now, early C-models ('78 and up) are in storage and in the 3000/4000 Type storage area, where they're being picked apart for parts too, since the early A-models have been disappearing. HVF is one of the larger private scrap yards located just off base outside the gate. Some pics I got of some of these planes leaving to be scrapped. Still some very useful parts on the first one.

Glad Doc didn't turn out like Kee Bird.

All the ones at Humphreys ended up on the Pilsung Range in Korea. Very limited post-Army use indeed, although the old Customs air branch in TUS had a number of them from the late '70s to the late '80s.

Sure, tech has definitely gotten better. I was relating why the AF was reluctant to send those two airframes at that time, rightly or wrongly.

When TASS squadrons were still around, and during the Desert Shield timeframe, we still had two OV-10A squadrons, at George and Shaw; two OA-37 squadrons, at Howard and at Peoria ANG; and 3 OA-10 squadrons, at Osan and DM. The AF didn't want to send the OV-10s or the OA-37s to DS, preferring the OA-10s. Even a couple of those were lost from the 23rd. The USMC sent their OV-10s and lost two of them in fairly short order, to where they stayed around or mostly behind the FLOT after that.
-
Not only that, but no A-10s have gone to war with anything near 16,000 lbs of ordnance. Average loads were half that or so of stores. Sure, the capability is there, but it's not a realistic number in combat.

Lol. Always the one guy who lives on 88 ride to 88 ride.

Be nice to get a B-50 flying. There are a couple of example in museums which appear to be possible candidates, were there the money to do so.

Our airstrikes against ISIS need to target the center of that group's local power base and provider of material support: Erdogan himself. And his cronies. Should've taken his jet down while they knew where it was.

Like when the Mexican military had crossed into the US along with drug vehicles, were spotted by a BP agent who drove towards them to see what was going on, only to get his patrol truck shot up by the Mexican Army, with him escaping and running away. That vehicle being salvaged by the agency, towed away back to Tucson, markings painted over and scrapped in a junkyard.

Just the other night, responded to a Yuma-based agent who was making an apprehension of a group of 3, when the group decided to jump him instead of run, which is becoming more and more common unfortunately. One of the illegals managed to gain his baton and started hitting him with it, before said illegal was shot dead by him. Hostile resistance by illegals with active wants/warrants or other criminal crimes on their record (including capital crimes) is on the serious uptick, as there are many more of those coming into the US than the standard on-each looking for work. Not knowing who anyone is, all have to be treated as potentially hostile now, until secured and can be IDd.
