ABU Parka?
It's starting to get cold up here in NY...anyone know where I can pick up a good ABU parka/field jacket/whatever they're called? Most of the ones I've seen are like $180...anyone know if there are cheaper ones out there? Also, can you wear an ACU-patterned jacket over the ABUs? I can't seem to find any regs for ABU wear...

^^ Why are you issuing boots? Shouldn't you have gotten those last year? Or did you wear through them already? Well, we don't have to do any of that at BT or JFTC anyway. I asked...they can schedule it around your required classes (ie, they're not going to give you an encampment that starts before your exam period ends or ends after your classes start in the fall), but not around anything else. You can do intra-det swaps between two cadets, but you can't straight up request a new encampment date. Supposedly you can also do inter-det swaps, but that requires a lot of coordination and paperwork...hey, maybe if there's two guys here from different dets that want to switch, they can send each other PM's and coordinate... Please do post that if you can find it. Also, what is PSP Ii? Does anyone know how you're assigned into flights? Do you find out ahead of time or do they tell you after you show up?

Anyone know when we can expect to get our camp dates? I'm trying to schedule summer classes, etc, but I obviously can't finalize anything until I know when I need to be at Maxwell. Also, I'm curious to know who's gonna be wearing ABUs...our det won't issue them to us, despite the fact that a) they're authorized, and b) we have like 100 sets in the storage room.

Security Clearance questions
I don't have a non-US passport, so that part isn't an issue. Also, check out this website. Lots of people get security clearances despite being dual. In one case on that site, a person was granted a clearance despite having US/Iran citizenship.

Security Clearance questions
My application for Secret got complicated because I have dual citizenship (US and UK...you'd think that wouldn't be a big deal)...I did all the paperwork, did an interview, wrote a memo detailing why I think I should be allowed to keep my UK citizenship, etc...anyway, I talked to the NCOs at my Det today and they said that my clearance wasn't approved, but it wasn't denied either. Instead, it came back as being "approved for favorable", or something like that. They had no idea what that meant, but they said they were going to look into it. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? It's been 4 months since we submitted the paperwork...

Transfering/switching schools
I'm on a Type 1 scholarship, but I'm thinking about transferring schools (the other school I have in mind also has an AFROTC det on campus). Keeping the same major though (engineering). Has anyone done this or know anything about the process?

ROTC while getting masters?
IDK if this helps you any, but at my school there's an option to get your masters (engineering) in 1 year immediately following your graduation as an undergrad. This works out nicely with the fact that engineering students can take 5 years to go through ROTC. Apply for an extension to your scholarship, then just take masters classes your last year. Its a little more complicated than that, so feel free to PM me if you want details, but that's essentially what it boils down to.

Security Clearance questions
For the US/UK folks: it turns out that you can resume your British citizenship once in your life after having renounced it. So give it up during your military service if necessary, then resume it when you get out. Other countries may have similar provisions. https://bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitize...eupnationality/ https://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishc...nofcitizenship/

Security Clearance questions
Can I ask what authority/experience you have to state that? Not trying to shoot you down or anything (on the contrary, I hope you're right), just curious where that info is coming from. The NCOs at my det basically told me I'll have to denounce my UK. He said he put a call in to the guys that actually do the security clearance stuff and thats what they said.

Security Clearance questions
The person who interviewed me for my US Citizenship basically said that the government doesn't have any specific documentation allowing or banning dual citizenship. They basically turn a blind eye to it. I was never once asked to renounce my UK citizenship during the whole process, even though I openly admitted at every step along the way that I am a UK citizen and don't intend on renouncing that after I get my US.

Security Clearance questions
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I couldn't find anything else more relavent on the boards...I'm also US/UK and hoping to be a pilot. I'm an AS100 now in AFROTC (non-contract), and one of the seargents in my det told me that she found a document stating that dual citizens are required to renounce one. She couldn't find it when I went into her office just now, but she said she'll email it to me when she finds it. Does anyone know anything about this? [EDIT] Just did some googling and found this in AFROTCI 36-2011: 4.17. Security Clearance 4.17.1. All contract cadets must have an open security clearance before they can be commissioned. Cadets without prior service must have a national agency check, local agency check, and credit check (NACLC). Cadets with prior service must have at least an NACLC. 4.17.2. Dual Citizenship. Cadets who hold dual citizenship with a foreign country could be ineligible for a security clearance. It will be necessary for them to denounce their citizenship with the foreign country through the state consulate. Documentation received from the consulate once citizenship has been denounced must be included when submitting clearance paperwork. Note the contradictory bolding (I added that)...huh?[/EDIT]
