Perhaps the Sarcasm Transmitter needs tuning...

OK, let me get this straight...Huggy states that the new CC is making people wear two reflective belts. Someone else states that YCMTSU, and I assure him that Huggy is in fact making this up. Now, you're telling me that Huggy is not making this up. Why would the new CC do this? It sounds absurd. Perhaps the labodomy was accomplished ahead of schedule. Bummer.
-
Huggy is making this shit up.
-
Actually you are nuts. Much less bureaucracy and queep in the rest of the military. Big Blue Air Force is a CANCER.
-
Very good point Huggy. In order for us to interview/hire an interservice transfer, Big Blue has to be able to accept them onto the rolls. In the current climate of VSP, RIF, and SERB, it is unlikely for one to transfer into the Air Force. For the AF pilots out there, the point is that it doesn't matter what you fly now, you are still eligible for our program.

Probably a good time for the periodic recruiting post. While SPOO is being tongue-in-cheek about the hiring, the fact remains that we hire Tanker pilots, Fighter pilots, Helo pilots, Strat Lift pilots, Bomber pilots, Specialized Herc pilots, DV support pilots, Tac Lift pilots, FAIPs, Reconnaissance pilots, Navy pilots, Marine pilots, Coast Guard pilots, NSA pilots (although it has been a few years and it was before the mainstream knew about NSA), and even RPA pilots. We are funded through 2015 with a positive outlook for the years beyond that. If you have the mins and want to be a member of this brother/sisterhood, apply. If you have the skills to pass the interview, we'll offer you the job. If you're interested, take a look at the application process on the Beale portal page and call the recruiter at DSN 368-4447.

Fundamentally, you and I see the world from different perspectives. I spent 11 years in the Marines before I transferred to the Air Force. Therefore, during my formative years, I was taught (and believed) that everything I did was for the sole purpose of making the grunts successful. I still believe that. Today, whether I am talking with a JTAC in Afghanistan or cruising over strategic country X, I can still see why my efforts ultimately will make the grunts more successful. They don't have to be physically there to enjoy the benefits my job provides. I understand why Pawnman considers my thoughts a stretch, but at the same time, I think he is myopic.

Alarm Red...I don't get you. You have a twisted sense of reality. I have been at odds with other statements that you make, but with this one...I am nearly speechless. EVERYTHING you do is for the 18 year-old grunt on the ground. If you are a BUFF pilot during LINEBACKER then you are destroying the enemy's means to resist. Have you read "Supplying War" or anything by Sun Tzu? If you have any military education at all, you know that our job directly effects the Marines and Soldiers on the ground.

There is an ARM application on the Portal. I click on it once a week or so to make sure that they've put in all the 781s. I have found a bunch of errors that I never would have found if I had waited until the annual records review. All of them were Human errors on the part of the SARM plugging in the data. I've had to go to the HARM office twice to fix problems, both errors stemmed from my interservice transfer and both errors were immediately corrected because of my log books (I think that maybe CrewReport's HARM office is full of assholes). The only thing I can't get them to do is give me NVG credit for my flights in the USMC. I've spoken with two different CHARMs and they both had the same answer..."no". If someone can figure out a way to get that time logged, I would be thankful. Now, when I go to the records review, I know that all the info is good because I've been keeping track.

Clearly, your BAH is based on your base's zip code; that is the same for any military base...for Beale that is 95903. I do not get any kind of COLA ( I checked my LES.) I have no idea how that changes with two married military members. I don't intentionally crap on Global Hawk guys. Huggy is probably the most laid back, cool pilot on the planet. Be aware that if you choose an RPA, then you may stay RPA for the rest of your career. The A3 is making this decision soon. So, if you like to fly (actually be in a plane and manipulate flight controls) stay away from any and all RPA. Good luck to all- Kuma

My sister in law got married last December. The "best man" was a 70 something woman who was the groom's best friend, mentor, business parter etc. They called her the "Madrina" instead of "best man". Back on topic, they specifically asked me to be in uniform. I'm the only military member on that side of the family and they wanted the novelty I guess.

Prosuper- I am struggling with words to counter your post. I just don't know where to begin. You are talking to a production line worker in Witchita about an airplane and a program that he has a vested interest in. Of course he thinks that it is a clear cut winner...it is the aircraft that will provide him with money to feed and house his family. He stated that the "Navy insisted on the side opening canopy and a turboprop". Are you F'ing kidding me? The acquisition process has no place for the navy or the airforce or anyone else to insist on anything like that. The requirements were clear...train x pilots over y time. Do it at the lowest cost possible. Make sure we can use simulators to reduce the number of flight hours required. Side story about the acquisition process that still makes me smile...the requirement was for Z cubic inches of pubs storage. The typical pilot thought all Z cubic inches would be in one place. The engineers went with 3 different holes that totaled Z cubic inches (just barely). The biggest one just barely fit the IFR supp. What a pain. The good news is that the T-6 is far superior to the T-37 in every regard and it is cheap to operate. The T-6 does the training with one turboprop engine that out performs the tweet's dual jets like a college athlete out performs a middle school athlete. Kuma

Hueypilot- You are absolutely correct. If you are flying an airplane that has a civilian equivalent, you can go to the FSDO with your Form8 and get your ratings. Hacker- I was a Marine Cobra pilot at the time. I didn't have any multi-engine FW time. I paid $1500 for 10 hours of Seminole time to get training (ground school plus 4 sorties at 2 hours a piece) and my checkride (airplane rental for the checkride). Additionally, I paid the DE $300 (I think) for administering my multi-engine check ride. I never had a centerline restriction. That was over 10 years ago, so add $ for inflation. If you are going to go to the MC-12 then it is really a non-issue...go to IQT at Flight Safety. If they will give you that extra Vmc demo and remove the restriction then you are golden. If not, after you complete MQT at Meridian and have a Form8 in hand, go to your local FSDO and you will get the BE 300 type rating (and remove the centerline thrust restriction). A BE 300 rating is good for BE 300, BE 300C, BE 350, BE 350C to include the ER versions. Also, it says you are typed in both EFIS and Collins Proline 21 BE300 series aircraft.

I have some experience in this situation. I have a buddy who has a very similar flight background to mine. The only difference really is that he did an assignment as a T-37 IP and I did mine as a T-6 IP. He got his multi-engine rating(with centerline restriction) out of the tweet and I went down to the local FBO and flew a Seminole to get mine (no centerline restriction). When I went for IQT in the MC-12 I walked out with a type rating (I already had an ATP but could have gotten it) and he walked out with nothing more than a checkout. Flight Safety refused to give him a type or an ATP because he had the centerline restriction on his certificate. We both went to Wichita Flight Safety. Perhaps the guys at Atlanta have a different sight picture and that is why you are getting conflicting information.

Have you guys considered the OPSEC side of this discussion?

How about we let civil authorities enforce civil laws? Why does the military establishment think it should add more punishment? If A1C Snuffy, MajGen Bigguns, and Joe Blow wallstreet analyst get DUIs, they should all pay the required fines and work the required community service. But that is where the punishment should end. If the civil authorities say that Mr. Snuffy can drive his car to work, why do we in the military only allow him to drive to the edge of the installation and then walk/bike the rest of the way? Mr. Blow can drive back and forth to work at his discretion. My frustration lies with the fact that I've had two individuals subordinate to me get DUI for partying on the weekend, driving and getting caught. They were both just barely over the limit. I do not think that fact exonerates them, but I want to demonstrate that they are not necessarily bad people and they don't have drinking problems. They made a bad choice and need to pay their debt to society. They did. In both cases, the civil court said that they could drive to and from work. We (the AF) however said not only could they not drive their cars on the base, but they could not drive military vehicles on the base. Both were pilots and both had to drive a car for their primary job. Yet, they could fly airplanes but not the car that follows the airplanes in line with their primary job. Asinine- Kuma

I posted in another thread about general officers only spending one tour in the MWS as a crew dog and Maggie fits this to a T. With that said, while I was at Randolph (she was the OG) we roof stomped her. She found out about the plan ahead of time; told squadron leaders that it was a bad time (she was busy) and to turn it off. They didn't. We showed up with a huge cooler full of beer, and she retaliated with a full keg and two coolers full of bottled imported beer. She was a class act. Others may look at her as a kool-aid drinker, I look at her as a positive thinker. She's good, and she's a good influence on our morale. Kuma

Well, I guess since I didn't put [/sarcasm] next to my typing you didn't realize that everything I said to Huggy was dripping with sarcasm. I semi plagiarized the line from an old movie (I think it was "The Jerk" with Steve Martin) where he was writing a letter home and he explained that he was writing very slowly because he knew that they were slow readers. It is a lot less funny when you have to explain it, but I assure you I was laughing when I originally posted it. Break, break - ###### you Spoo. Hey, I tried to foul up the language for you...

Hands down...best CBT ever.

Vertigo - I am at a loss as to why you think I should be banned. Send me a PM and let me know the reasons; I will adjust so that I meet the expectations of this board. With Spoo being a friend and brother, I am pretty sure he is not going to adjust his poll to include banning me. We are all free to start our own polls, however. If you feel strongly enough, I encourage you to start a poll of your own asking members to vote to ban me or not. That would be fair and logical. You've already got Capt4fans vote... Kuma

Yep, two syllables...similar yet different than "Hug" and "gy" as in Hug~gy. ###### you Huggy. Damn still not enough posts. "Just noise" Huggy? You hurt my feelings...both of them. Vertigo - I am Kuma and am one of the good guys TreeA10 - Ten years ago I couldn't even read Air Farce Officer, now I is one. Spoo- Thanks.

The good news is that I will be able to communicate with most of you while not using curse words. Unfortuately, in Huggy's case, regardless of his supposed "culture", he no understand nothing wit out swearing words. Well, that's not quite true either, because if you speak slowly enough, even Huggy gets it. Huggy, I am typing very, very slowly so that you can keep up. M2 is absolutely correct in the fact that I am a Marine. I tell my friends that I was tired of the military life so I joined the Air Force. Currently, this Marine is on active duty Chair Farce orders listening to Huggy and Spoo talk about how I should be more civilized. Kuma P.S. Huggy, your "enter" button is stuck. M2 - maybe you can give me a swear word ration card...that way I can meter out some really important swears against Huggy, and sometimes Spoo.

Why do you guys want to be out of a cockpit? When I consider jobs, I consider which job allows me to fly the most. When clerks consider jobs, they think about getting an advanced degree or sitting on a staff somewhere. This discussion just proves that there are pilots who should have been shoeclerks. Good luck to you- Kuma

Runner- My answer is yes. You can expect UPT to take you 1 year. After UPT, you can expect 2-3 years before you meet the minimums to apply. So, will the Dragon Lady be around in 2013? I absolutely think so. The first thing that they will shut down is the FTU (training squadron) and the PDM (Depot maintenance). Once they do that, the program is unsustainable and it will close about 2 years later. Everyday we hear about another extension. I've heard everything from 2012 to 2020. Right now, we know that we are fully funded through 2012. There are lots of rumors that we can expect full funding through 2014, but it is just that...rumor. Nobody can tell you for sure until the U-2 is in the POM or the APOM, but the desire for us to stay (from COCOM level) is strong. We are in an ISR-centric war right now. For you, concentrate on UPT. Do well enough (and time it well enough) to get the mission you want. Build time and experience and if the U-2 program is around when you're looking...then check us out. Good luck- Kuma
