  13. I spent 4 years in a military training environment that required strict uniform standards. Tailored BDUs and Blues, high-n-tight haircuts, shoe taps…the whole nine yards. I enjoyed it at first. Hell, it was part of the job. But as time went by I started to absolutely hate the uniform nazis I worked with. And I mean everybody was a uniform nazi. I’m not talking about just pointing out the big stuff. They would hammer down on the little shit. Like, Sgt Suchnsuch your belt tip exceeds 2” past your buckle. Sgt Suchnsuch your maintenance badge is more then a ½” above your ribbons. Sgt Suchnsuch did you get your weekly haircut? By the end of my tour I was ready to kick somebody’s nads.
  14. Choke the shit out of em then run like hell!
  15. Looks like the Navy joined the “aging aircraft” club.
  16. I knew I was going to take some heat for that comment. It's a good thing my old man doesn't log onto baseops...he's a retired MX Officer. But it would be hard to call myself a Crew Chief if I didn't rag on the maintenance O's. Trust me, Crew Chiefs know MX Officers are important. We just play dumb to the fact.
  17. Here we go again. I spent time in maintenance under both Ops and MXS. They both had their pros and cons. Crew Chiefs were organized under Ops when I was a FCC and it was great. Orders were easier to cut and the maintenance funding seemed a littler better. The Ops guys really took care of their Chiefs. When the first reorganization of Chiefs dropped shit changed over night. The FCC program went down the crapper and our 12 hour duty days quickly turned into 15 hour days. MXS only has one thing on their mind...fix the plane no matter what the cost. However I did notice several cons while Chiefing for OPs. The Ops CC had little knowledge on how heavy scheduled maintenance worked (Phase, ISO, Depot....) Also, communication with the other Maintenance Squadrons was limited. To tell you the truth, I don’t really care if I’m working for Ops or MXS. The mission is the same. And as far as the whole Maintenance Officer thing goes...I'm still trying to figure out what their job is.
  18. I just received my class dates. School starts 6 Jun 08. The course itinerary doesn’t mention EAUC. It only lists Fixed Wing FE Helper, FE Apprentice, Emergency Parachute Training, Combat Survival Training, and Water Survival. Is EAUC required for Crew Chiefs retraining into FE?
  19. All right, all right, all right…my retrain application was approved!!! Status, awaiting allocation of class seats. Is there anybody out there who could tell me when I should expect a class date and how soon. AFPC likes to keep everything a secret until the last minute. Thanks in advance.
  20. I'm currently trying to retrain into flight engineer. I have the right feeder AFSC of 2A571 and meet all other requirements. You would think the selection process would be fast and simple...WRONG!! It took over 4 months to submit my package and now AFPC tells me it will take another 4 months to review and approve/disapprove my application. Does it normally take this long? Does anybody have any guidance or suggestions on how to speed up the process?
