I was just coming home from an early morning class at Texas A&M. I got home just in time to see the second tower hit. I was so pissed that anyone could actually do this to the US. I was a busdriver on campus and had a shift to drive that afternoon. They did not cancel classes initially and I still remember driving the bus that day. The bus was always packed and loud but that day it was dead silent while everyone listened to the news. I was in my senior year and planning to attend UT law the next year. After that day I changed my plans and wanted to blow up the bastards that did this. I decided I would join the AF. Seven yrs later I am deployed to "Southwest Asia" and got to fly on 9-11-08 in OEF and finally got to do my part.

It's not mandatory, it is optional. You can still use your debit/credit cards at the Deid. However buddies of mine that have used their credit cards have gotten bogus charges on their accounts. I would recommend just using the Eagle card. It is super easy to set up, they take it everywhere on base, and you don't have to worry about your credit getting stolen. I really don't see a down side to the card. FWIW

Shaw pilot charged with battery/intent to kill for pushing someone at a bar!
BONE WSO replied to a topic in Squadron Bar
"As for part 2, I'm not quite understanding how the pint over a guys head turns a 1v4 into a 2v3.... did the guy who got hit in the head pop back up and forget what side he was on?" Friend helps his buddy that turns 1v4 into 2v4. Then friend hits bad guy with a pint, subtract 1 bad guy, this leaves 3 bad guys, hence 2v3. -
Not to be too much of a shoe clerk but check out his salute. Aren't you supposed to touch the edge of your glasses if you are wearing them and not the middle of your forehead?

We keep hearing RUMINT of a possible upcoming TAMI-21 for WSO's. I don't know if there is any truth at all to this but just wondering if anyone else has heard of it. Thanks!

Here is the one I sent good ole Sallie Mae and it worked. 6% on private loans after I got my flight commander to sign some paperwork that they emailed me. 24 Jun 07 To: Sallie Mae Servicing ATTN: Correspondence PO Box 9500 Wilkes-Barre, PA 18773-9500 RE: Dear Sallie Mae Servicing: On 20 February 2004 I was called to active duty in the United States Air Force, and I have been continually serving on active duty since that date. Under the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA), 50 United States Code Appendix Section 526, I should receive a maximum interest rate of 6% on all account balances incurred before I came on active duty. Under the SCRA, I understand that any interest due above this 6% rate is forgiven. Please refund my account any excess charges and change my account to reflect the requirements of the SCRA, and adjust all monthly payments to the 6% interest rate. I have enclosed a copy of my current active duty orders and my active duty orders calling me to service for your reference. I will notify you as soon as my active duty ends. Sincerely,

If you have any WSO-type questions feel free to PM me. When I was in Pensacola, before we started API, there was a guy that received an alternate pilot spot, but he was at API as a nav. The week before we started class they pulled him and told him someone fell out and he had his pilot spot, but he did not get to do UPT at Whiting, they sent him to Columbus. I don't think that they will pull you that quickly and reassign you while you are in class. I was reassigned and it is not a quick process, but take that for what its worth.

Not true, I know a guy that PCS'ed to Dyess with only his Secret. Also if you are dealing with the security manager from the 563rd I would talk to someone else, she is about as clueless and strange as they come. She lost all my buddies clearance paperwork when we were there and he has to do it all again.

They are replacing the T-39(30-40 years old) with the C-21. The T-1 is supposed to get phased out of the syllabus, not necessarily replaced. I worked in skeds for 6 months at Pensacola and this was the preliminary plan that the AF was working on so take it for what its worth. [ 25. November 2006, 00:16: Message edited by: WSO _LT ]

There were quite a few reservists teaching nav training at NAS Pensacola. Also supposedly the T-1's and T-39's are going away and should be replaced by C-21's in 2009.

T-1 pilots at NAS Pensacola are civilian contractors, not sure about the T-6's at Whiting but you could always fly T-6s at Pensacola

For the record there were at least 5 guys in Pcola that I personally knew that washed out of UPT. It was not that uncommon. [ 15. August 2006, 00:26: Message edited by: WSO _LT ]

Cragspider, I still was on the jet for 9 hours and I saw what it was capable of and how guys that are about to get their wings dont exactly keep it on the blackline, and I can see why. If it is so good then just explain to me why we need a cellnav clearance? I guess I just compare it to pcola, where it is very very different and I have actually seen both of the trainings so I can make some sorta comparison.
-
Dude you are in freakin flight school, you aren't gonna sleep on the plane for sure, and I seriously doubt they would let you dip on the plane since it is an AETC rule and Randolph is AETC headqtrs.
-
I don't really know if the instructors expect it or what cause I only did 2 flights in it and they were mainly demo. We flew T-6, T-1, and T-39 in pcola. The training is very different.

I came from pcola and am here for EWO and we fly 2 flights in it. I think it is a POS, it is supposed to be a navigation trainer but yet the tacan constantly is off and usually does not match the pilot's tacan. Also there is no CDI bar, I don't know if this is standard in old planes but I have had one in every plane I have been in. The radar is almost totally worthless, and the INS drifts very bad. The studs fly with cellnav, and being 3-5 miles off course is not uncommon. [ 02. August 2006, 22:33: Message edited by: AggieSteven02 ]

I am at EWO right now as a B-1 guy and I know for a fact that one of our instructors (EWO type) is headed to UAV's for his next tour. He has a commercial license and paid for the hours himself. Don't know if this is gonna become common or a one time deal. Also why can brand new guys drop bombs in the B-1 but it is an upgrade position in the B-52? [ 25. SP story that happened to me just now at the gym. So I am running on the treadmill and I have my ipod on and these two nineteen year old cops are patrolling the gym and come up to me and motion to take off my earphones. I take the earphones off with a disgusted look on my face and ask what they want. The cop asks me for my ID. I don't have the ID and he tells me that I have to get the ID right now. I say YGBFSM, he makes a big deal and I have to get my ID immediately from my truck. I get the ID and put it right in his face, he takes it and looks it over like its counterfeit and hands it back to me without saying a word. They then walk through the gym and do this to everyone. Fukkin ridiculous On a side note I used to bring the ID all the time but they have never asked to see it so I quit bringing it in.

I don't think he will give me too much crap. He knows how much extra pain we had to endure at Pensacola. The strike fighter portion is an extra 3 months of air-to-air that bone guys don't do. So there is no way I am gonna give up without a fight. Main priority now is working out and passing the thing so I have some ground to stand on. Thanks Rainman, I appreciate all the advice. I may not ever post but I have been on here awhile and I listen to all the good advice that you, CH, M2, and all the other guys have and I appreciate the time all of you take to help out us young guys. Thanks a lot for your advice Rainman and Bender, I plan to talk to talk to my Flt/CC tomorrow about setting up a possible appt with the Sqdn/CC, he's a bone wso so hopefully he won't hold it against me that I really want the strike eagle.
-
I talked to my Flight/cc about it and let him know that I was planning on doing this and he was cool with it. Do you really think I should go to the cc about it now or wait til I prove that I have passed the fuge?

I have a situation and I think I have a good plan but want to check with you guys to see if it seems like a workable idea and if ya'll can think of anything else that could possibly help. I am a wso that went through training in Pensacola for F-15E's. I got winged in October as a 15 dude but then I failed the fuge twice, both times for improper agsm breathing technique, I got through the whole profile easily but have problems with the last 30 seconds of the acm profile. I never gloc'd. So after the second failure I was reassigned to the B-1. I am here at Randolph now going through EWO training til the end of August and as I'm sure most of you know there is a fuge at Brooks. I went and talked to a LtCol there last week about coming to practice in the fuge and he said it was a good idea. I think with weekly practice I would be able to pass the fuge easily after a few weeks. I also would like to sandbag some T-38 rides here at Randolph to build up my g-tolerance if I can somehow con my way into that. My question is this: Do you guys think the Air Force would grant me a waiver if I showed I could pass the fuge multiple times here at Brooks and reassign me back to the Strike Eagle? The waiver would allow me to go back to Holloman a third time and must be signed be the AETC/DO. I am pretty much willing to do whatever, brown nose whoever to get switched back. Pros of the plan include: would have ewo training completed which I know the strike eagle guys want and also the bone is backed up so that might sway the decision. The only con I can think of is that I PCS'ed enroute so my hhg are waiting in abilene. I'm sorry this post is so long and I appreciate any advice, ideas, or whatever you guys have. Thanks in advance! Edited to add extra details... [ 15. May 2006, 03:08: Message edited by: AggieSteven02 ]
