  1. Friend of a friend, who is in DC as AF Fellow attended the meeting between USAF and Airlines. His words "it was a horse abortion"; the USAF viewpoint was not looked upon with any type of sympathy. The overall gist was, we are commercial business who's goal is to make $ for our stockholders and company. I guess United was the most vocal in their displeasure. Statements like "you have mismanaged your pilots for over a decade". So I don't think it went like leadership was hoping...
  2. All I can speak to is my experience, when I was offered continuation, that was it. I had no choice between that or TERA. You could be correct; however it seems like the AF essentially tells you what your option is. You can take it or leave without anything.
  3. Gents, Update, I shit you not. I guess at the HAF whomever was in charge of creating the involuntarily separated notification memos went through the promotion spreadsheet and created them for anyone whom was passed over 1APZ. Our CC called yesterday and did some digging and helped discover the complete breakdown in process. They should be getting their continuation letter shortly...Unbelievable
  4. Neither of these guys asked for that. They were both plannning on next assignments, and assumed that continuation would be offered. These were not shitbags either, both checked all boxes and are working staff jobs.
  5. Two pilots at my location; both 1APZ, neither promoted are both being involuntarily separated...Makes sense seeing as how we have a pilot shortage
  6. Chicken you could be correct. However my continuation was only offered until 20 years, so I don't know exactly how it works to 24 years. And it was the "will be continued to 24 years" statement that caught my attention.
  7. From above: "each eligible LAF major, within a critical skill listed above, selected for continuation will be continued until they reach 24 years of Total Active Federal Commissioned Service (TAFCS)." If you accept continuation and are in "Critical Skill", you'll get to stay an extra 4 years past 20...Plan accordingly gents
  8. In the summer of 2004 we could still wear civilian clothes, the mandatory PT gear didn't start until I think 2006 timeframe. My 2005 tour was great, no Chiefings and ladies in Juicy sweat suits
  9. When I received my initial Non-Select counseling, that was how it was explained to me as well. Using 30 Nov 2015 as the mandatory separation date; my TAFMSD put me within 4 years of retirement. AFPC said that meeting the four year "window" would be the pass to continuation.
  10. 12M twice passed over guy. Was continued to 20; for me and my situation this was what I was hoping for. Other co-workers 11M were given TERA.
  11. For those that were interested and potentially awaiting news, I received the 8 Sep Special Selection Board non-promotion email from AFPC today...bummer dude!! Hopefully someone else got a better Christmas surprise.
  12. Don't know if I would qualify FY14 program as an organized implementation plan. Feels like an entire O-line pushed from behind goal line TD. Sure we meet the goal, but the process was unnecessarily chaotic. I think it highlights just how a reactionary organization AF is. Two years from now, we'll be suddenly "undermanned"....
  13. Spaceman it really all depends on what you like. An older historic home with character or cookie cutter new developments. Personally I loved the Heights because of the location to the city and all the cool things to do outside of work within walking/bike riding distance (Big Dam Bridge, Arkansas River Trail). Wherever you end up its a great city with a lot of fun things to do, enjoy it!!
  14. Hillcrest and the Heights are two areas of town that are close to downtown Little Rock proper. Great older historic Craftsman style homes, Sherwood is your basic cookie cutter suburbs; close to base, but far from all the fun stuff downtown offers.
  15. So what's the back story....I thought my 11.3 was long
  16. Not too much sour grapes...but...Having checked all my boxes and drank the Kool-aid by the gallon; quite frustrating to see that someone who didn't show the same "dedication to the cause" be rewarded with the promotion. Understand ever story is unique, but it still stings....
  17. Zrooster99 what's the monetary difference between your O4 20 yr retirement vs 15 yr TERA
  18. The 2011 RIF board was only for year group 2000 guys...Sooo unless you had a RFF signed and submitted by you CC don't think you've met the last one.
  19. We 2000 O4 guys were part of a RIF board in 2011. Don't think your allowed to be subjected to two in a row. So when we have another RIF in 2015 we'll be back in the mix ;)
