I’m afraid that this won’t be the case; unless they distribute more DP’s to the Ops group, then this “new system”will be what we have now. It almost seems like it could be worse, as the only guys meeting the board are all operators, but no one else records to establish the promotion record “cut line”. The devil will be in the details...

Saddle up for Syria? Or Op Deny Christmas '13
jrizzell replied to brickhistory's topic in General Discussion
The Sunnis and Shiites have been fighting each other for 1500 years; toss the Kurds into the mix and it’s a huge religious shit sandwich. As Americans if we continue to interject ourselves into those fights, we’ll be there forever. We kicked a hornets nest with the poor way we handled the Iraq Invasion and aftermath. Personally I think we need to leave the entire region, but we’ve invested so much money I don’t know if the military leadership will accept anything besides indefinite occupation. -

This is the same “outrage” that erupted over the Aircrew MAGA morale patches. It’s civilian reporters who don’t understand how the military operates. I do feel for the GS-13 who’s planning those TACC missions, they’re about to get a lot of unnecessary scrutiny.

Early in my career my crew spent a couple weeks at Clark, off-base, with a broke plane; I couldn’t imagine the environment when it was an active duty base...

Were all those 100 waivered IPs performing at a below level standard? Seems like a new-guy showed up and wants to get a handle on the process, but just wondering if it really needs to be “fixed”...

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

I’m not disagreeing that a DUI isn't a poor choice that endangers others; what I’m saying is that Commanders should evaluate each individual situation and determine the appropriate level of punishment. But to start the conversation with, regardless of circumstances your out of my unit is shitty leadership. And an O6 should obviously be held to a higher standard than an E3 or O2. Let’s be real folks, we will never eliminate alcohol related events, it’s a legal intoxicate and people will always misuse it. -

You literally contradict yourself...One mistake is terrible, unless you get a DUI, then off with your head “in my unit”. I understand everyone has their own personal experiences which drive their world view; and it seems like DUI is yours. During my time in the AF, I’ve known people that did stupid shit as a LT, but we’re able to have fantastic careers because their leadership didn’t end it before it really began. Personally I’ve never thought the “hammer” style leaders create a healthy work environment, just one based on fear. -

So are you advocating for the “one mistake Air Force”. People make extremely poor decisions, but can learn from them. To equate someone who drives drink, to hitting a child while under the influence are two massively different circumstances. I’m not an advocate for burning people at the stake, but that’s just me. -
That was my question. I just reengaged with my friend, it seems that in their hasty review of the non-selection paperwork they made some poor assumptions about what it meant. I also did some digging into the AFI, and it looks like continuation becomes a player after your 1APZ.

For the group, has anyone heard of people who didn’t get promoted to O5 IPZ, but then also got a non-continuation paperwork this board. Asking for a friend

There is a form you submit as “justification” why you should meet an SSB. Autumn Foley helped me as an Active Duty member. The goal is to find anything that you can, to get yourself another look.

Good luck to all those people waiting on the info. If your boss is worth their salt, they should be letting people know before the July 4th break...

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

If you’ve had limited work interaction with the Civilian Force of the DOD, then it can be a bit of a culture shock. Ask most of them and they know a “blue suiter” will be gone in two years, that’s good or bad. If you work at the Pentagon I’m sure the turnover is greater than that. Try this leaders, treat people like you would like to be treated. Screaming at people, in my opinion, is an ineffective technique. -

I read the comments and I think what it shows is the civilian population complete lack of understanding of the US armed forces culture. This is not an indictment on them, just they have no clue on what we do or who we are. Every military aviator saw the MAGA patch and thought “that’s funny”. They see it as something entirely different, as they have no idea what a morale patch is. -

Is PTDY able to be broken up like that for multiple weeks at a time....I didn’t think it was just free leave to use at your leisure, it’s for your “transition” to the real world -
Looks like it’s a wrap for the flying mission at the Puerto Rico ANG.They had to send all their flyers through a gentleman’s “requal” last summer... https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/27408/puerto-rico-air-guards-c-130-airlifters-and-flying-role-are-being-taken-away

Keep the current test in place; eliminate the “minimum passing standards” for each event. All that matters is if you get above a 75. Unfortunately the fear among the generals is seeing a bunch of fats kids in their uniform, so therein lies the purpose of the waist measurement. There are multiple ways to skin the cat, and it all depends on what you think is the best way to achieve fitness; i.e. Running, weight training, or HIIT.

This absolutely would be the best way to use a DA. But as that is common sense and logical; it has no place in this decision process 😬 I hope this turns out like it should...

Not any knock on those who put in their time on that desk, but Big Blue has enabled sending 220 Execs directly to school...do we think a Wing/CC will send anyone else??

Each lead MAJCOM will have a list of “certified” Simulators that meet the requirement to log an OFDA creditable flight.
