  1. yes thanks, probably most helpful reply
  2. wow. you guys really have a hard time of RTFQ'ing dont you? I already have a degree, its not for acquiring another one but for something else. How did this turn into a debate on in-res vs online and whether or not it is worth it? Just wondering what the more popular choices are these days in order to perhaps apply for an easy adjunct professor position while i am sitting in a hotel for half my life.
  3. Can anyone currently in an IMA psn answer this? I understand an IMA job is performed all at once, entire 6 weeks at one time, then you are done for the year. Are there any IMA jobs (not points only) that you are able to perform more, or even split up the 6 weeks? Summer is a peak time to make $$ in the airlines so would hate for my 6 weeks to be over that time. Or for instance right now I am on disability for an ACL injury, would love to be able to go in and supplement my disability payment if that is an option if I am in this position again (hope not, surgery sucks!) thx
  4. On active duty I got 1 pairs of clear, tinted flight glasses and one pair of reading glasses. In the guard they are saying I dont get reading glasses. Anyone able to get reading glasses or know if there is a reg? thanks
  5. Curious what the most popular choices are these days? When I did mine 5-7 yrs ago it was Touro/Trident, AMU, and some others. So if you wouldnt mind, who are you or your co-workers using these days?
  6. can I jump on this for anything in the phx area if you know of anything?
  7. In response to your search for discounts, US Military Endurance Sports strives to offer current and former members of the armed forces discounts, among other benefits, on a wide array of gear for endurance sports to include bikes, apparel, race reimbursement, coaching etc. But more than the discounts offered is the benefit of being on a team with great camaraderie. US Military Endurance Sports is currently doing a membership drive to educate like minded individuals on the benefits of endurance sports. We have recently changed our motto to "Fit for Duty, Fit for Life," something every member takes seriously and attempts to embody on a daily basis. Please try to help me get the word out about this remarkable organization that has changed so many lives in the short amount of time since its inception. We currently host fully funded training camps for wounded veterans, and have a diverse team of athletes that support one another on a daily basis. see USMES.org for membership benefits (to include an array of discounts worldwide) and to apply today (open to current and separated members of the military; active, guard and reserve). Tell them Bart sent you.
  8. So I found out that either 0 or 30% disability will get you your VA funding fee waived. My first goal is to expedite my VA claim because I close in approx ~60 days. Does anyone know if this is possible? Like how fast a fully developed claim takes? What is my fastest option to get even a 0% disability rating? Second concern, is that disability rating disclosed to anyone? I am currently in the guard, does that have to be disclosed to the flt doc? Does a 10% disability rating for say slight hearing loss, or the knee pain i sustained from an injury a couple years ago prevent me from now flying or if I decide to switch units, will that unit scrutinize such a rating even if I have been flying with it for the last 3 years (can egress, pass a hearing test, etc?) thanks for the help. Kind of on a time crunch on this one (stupid me).
  9. Herk, I put that the guard/reserves is currently 300 pilots short in the 130/135, I am giving them a solution. Also that our family situation has changed and would like to pursue leadership opportunities in the ARC.
  10. This thread quickly became taken over by a bunch of SNAPs. First off you are mis-associating tool/douche bag and bad attitude with sense of entitlement or individuals who think they have everything figured out. One can quickly be changed over some beers at a bar and the other takes time and maturity. I was merely pointing out that hitting cntrl-F on a computer won't save you from the inevitable RPA and there is no need to worry about things you can't change at this point, that's all.
  11. Obviously you have never been a UPT IP, they ask for it. We are just kind enough to give it to them. You want FNG co-pilot walking in to YOUR sq thinking he owns the place day one? You...are...welcome
  12. Be prepared to put up with Weed's beratings! But don't apply if you hate watching movies prior to step or a beer fridge always fully stocked.
  13. You act like you found the holy grail for drop night. Here is a question worth answering (as a former UPT flt/cc) are you going to count up all bases c-17 drops and then tell your flt/cc there was one more floating around and why didn't you get it? If you would have spent more time studying EPQs rather than trolling around AF.mil sites you wouldn't have to worry about the drop!
  14. FYI, SECAF just approved TAMP for VSPers as well. Pass the word so people can take advantage of this great benefit.
  15. FYI, SECAF just approved tamp for VSPers as well. Pass the word
  16. Yes you get tamp. Very easy to sign up once you sign in at your new base Mish hacker, where u coming from and going? My buddy from BAD is in the same boat. The SAF office is the last one and it usually takes 7-8 days once it hits there. Your commander and usually secretary or execs even have full CMS rights. They can put in your CMS # or even social and pull up your case. All those one liners you see saying approved, dissaproved or it's now sitting here, well the previous office probably wrote a paragraph explanation. For what it's worth, mine was recommended disapproval from the functional who approved a one yr ADSC waiver for another guy in my sq. It's all about numbers to them and how they will justify their end strength to their boss. It's a shit show. I think they just guess half the time. I put a really early date on my PC app so they would be forced to push it to the right and I could set it myself. Don't forget about the 20 days of permissive. MAKE sure finance says yes you get them. The guy at the PC office actually called my cell one afternoon and said he was setting my DOS, what did I want it to be? I said i need 2 weeks to outprocess and 20 days permissive so we set it for 34 days from when he called. BOOM! Mish, I attached my hire letter to my application. Also there are two different routings reserves and guard are using. The reserves actually send the 1288 and get all the endorsements before actually applying for PC in vmpf. The guard does all the endorsements after your PC is approved. Weird but whatever.
  17. Well it's all about who you talk to. The chief super in the sq made a call and all of a sudden I will be gained today. Anyone look at their 214 yet? I graduated under an ROTC scholarship and the box on the 214 says no. Don't really care...unless it is preventing me from a future benefit.
  18. Well finally figured it out and thanks for all the responses. Next issue, getting gained. Just like the PC process, it can be expedited if you call the right people and keep kicking the can down the road. My DOS was 15 aug, swore in on the 16th, paperwork went to the NGB on the 18th. Anyone know the exact process and who would be the first line to call and speed it up so I can start flying? Watch out claiming disability and trying to fly for the airlines. Some of them want you to disclose what you are "disabled for" and if you are getting compensation.
  19. OH MY GERRRD!!!! why do people suck at their jobs? i have been calling since 9am, not one call back, two different messages, at least 6 different offices, finally got an answer at 3pm! they really make transitioning painless....NOT!!!!!!! when you in-process your new unit they will input the eligibility and ensure you get your 6 months of medical. now i gotta figure out the dental portion for me and the fam.
  20. Question for those approved and have made the transition as a TR regarding health care. How long does your Prime run once you separate? is it 6 months after your DOS or that day and do you just call and make the switch to Reserve select? do you have to wait until after your DOS or can I call right now so everything switches on my DOS? Same question for dental. thanks
  21. You dont think every new LT has the same question? Guess what, they made it to Capt just fine..well except for that kid in my UPT class who hooked up with one of the IPs fiance. Toro put it best. The responses on here arent going to win you DG, geek of the week, CGO of the qtr, a #1 strat, so just relax.
  22. its not a budget thing...anymore. Congress said your force structure will look like so and so. The plan from Air Staff (transferring tails and people) has all been addressed (as it is currently being accomplished). As soon as the CSAF signs the piece of paper on his desk the 53d is no more. The TFI will be official, but they wont have to be fully operational right away (and will most likely be J in a year or so anyway). Cheyenne and COS is a separate plan and being executed accordingly. I feel sorry for the 6 year captains who have probably spent more than half of that in student status now. I really hope boards can decipher who is still progressing.
