Seems to me you're not saying there shouldn't be legislation but rather. at least in the case of New Jersey, it should be better written and less vague. This is a private board- censorship is allowed and is used. Ask PYB. Speech that harms is not protected speech. And we know bullying is more than words. It's also threats and intimidation and sometimes violent and/or sexual acts. Just because something has always existed and will always exist doesn't mean we turn a blind eye to those actions. Schools should be doing everything in their power to halt this behavior when they are aware of it. Should we get rid of legislation on insider trading? It's always gone on and will continue to go on... How about traffic laws? People speed all the time. Should we also scrap those laws?

Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequences of your speech.

So who do you think is punished if/when it's discovered that a teacher or administrator failed to follow the law? Does this portion not mean an administrator is responsible? (6) a procedure for prompt investigation of reports of violations and complaints, identifying either the principal or the principal's designee as the person responsible for the investigation; Is this not aimed at teachers and other school employees? c. A school employee who promptly reports an incident of harassment, intimidation or bullying, to the appropriate school official designated by the school district's policy, and who makes this report in compliance with the procedures in the district's policy, is immune from a cause of action for damages arising from any failure to remedy the reported incident. In other words if they fail to report an incident they are not immune from a cause of action... Doesn't sound vague to me. Sounds like the Principal or designee is responsible to investigate alleged bully incidents and teachers (and other school employees) are required to report (I will admit the word "promptly" is vague) an incident or they could be sued as well.

Yawn Here's New Jersey's anti bullying law as an example: https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/A3500/3466_S1.PDF Here's some highlights- "Provides that a school administrator who fails to initiate or conduct an investigation of an incident, or who should have known of an incident and fails to take action, is subject to discipline;" "Provides that a school employee or contracted service provider must file a written report with the school principal within two days of observing or being made aware of an act of harassment, intimidation, or bullying;" Yeah that's not aimed at administration or teachers. /sarcasm I'm sorry, does an ACTUAL anti-bullying law count as good enough source material for you? You're right it does start at home... that doesn't mean schools can let anything go under their watch.

Ignorance. Pick up a book once in awhile and learn something. Anti-bullying legislation is aimed at teachers and administrators who fail to investigate or stop bullying. Hopefully your kid will never get harassed to the point they end their own life while administrators turn a blind eye to the harassment occurring under their watch. No need. You're doing a good enough job filling in for him.

Thirty Years Ago Today...The Falklands War Started
Vertigo replied to M2's topic in General Discussion
It wasn't that really. It was more that we were stuck between two allies. Argentina gave a lot of support in our anti-communism efforts in Central America training the Contras. The State Dept was quite divided- some favored backing Britain so as not to undermine NATO and others thought backing Britain would undermine our Latin America efforts. If you can find the audio of it there's a good BBC documentary called "The Falklands War and the White House" I recommend listening to it. Here's what I found: https://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rmhttp/downloadtrial/worldservice/documentaryarchive/documentaryarchive_20070425-1000_40_st.mp3 edit:added mp3 -
I take it you didn't watch The Descendents, Hesher, or The Artist then...

Have you seen the movie The Iron Lady? Good bio on Maggie... -
Presumably you didn't read the article associated with the picture.

Maybe I didn't... ah fuck it. Nevermind.

I'm sensing a tad bit of sarcasm here. Maybe I didn't communicate my stance. I'm not saying the wildcat will work... I'm saying Tebow going to the Jets will work as in he fits into Sparano's game plan since he likes the wildcat.
-
I don't know. The Jets offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano, likes to run the wildcat- he did it in Miami. This would suit the only thing Tebow is good at- running.

I'm not saying it does constitute racism... I guess I don't understand why you would chant USA in that context. It wasn't us versus some other nation. It was USA vs USA. Whoever wins the USA is the victor.
-
I don't get it... why would you start chanting "USA" in the first place? Where they insinuating the players from the other team weren't Americans?
-
Is that all you use your county offices for? I use mine to register my vehicles, to file court actions, to register to vote, to get copies of plats, to get hunting and fishing permits for the year, among other things.
-
I'll admit I was pretty skeptical, but 21 Jump Street is getting great feedback on rotten tomatoes (97% @ 23 reviews) and has been getting high reviews from the critics.
-
So... specially road lanes for those with expensive cars. Special lanes at the county offices for those paying more in property taxes. It's not the airlines (whom are the ones receiving the extra dollars for your ticket) running security but the government. The government should not be in the business of setting up "special" anything for those who choose to fly at a higher price rate. I have no problem with the airlines having a separate check in line for first class customers. That's their prerogative. The government, however, is meant to treat everyone as equals.

Uh... there are already troops there (hence the creation of this thread). What the campaign is about is raising awareness, to keep it on the radar of politicians in order to keep the advisors there until the job is done. That and to raise money to line his pockets. You are aware you just advocated the UN kill children, right? As that is essentially what the LRA is made up from- kidnapped children who have been given arms.

I know a little bit about it since I have the exact same condition in the exact same place. It's possible getting hit could affect his play if the hit inflames the nerves around the cervical spine. This would lead to severe pain and major weakness in his throwing arm. That said there are ways he can pad that area to lessen the jolt and the chance of re injuring that area. I'd love to see him go to KC ala Joe Montana. Get him in there to mentor Ricki Stanzi- make Matt Cassel have to compete for his job.
