  1. No different on the E side. I spent countless hours making sure there was no "wasted white space" format, re-format, format again. Rearrange word order, re phrase just to ensure every single space on the right side was taken up becasue that was some knucklehead in the supervision chain's pet peve. Just to have the whole thing kicked back to me for "fixing" from A1C Bag O' Doughnuts in the orderly room, after the EPR had been blessed by the Chief, OIC, the Shirt and God knows who else, all because A1C O'Doughnuts learnd something new in english class while working on his CCAF at the Ed Center the night before.
  2. So you're saying it's not a "real" school unless all your course work has been on the main campus, the school has a top notch NCAA athletic program, keg parties in the dorm on a weeknight, stately ivy covered walls and rich history of co-eds that have been "giving-it-up" under the bleachers since the early days of electricity? (Not that there's anything wrong with any of those things) Therefore especially, on the E side, where using the base ed center and Mother Blue's tuition assistance is the only route to college, all that effort is a complete waste for a worthless degree that any civilian employer would discount for even the lowest paid janitor position? Serious question not trying to be an a$$. OBTW, I do 100% agree the requirement for an AAD is stupid and should be masked. A guy/gal should be promoted solely upon how they're doing the J-O-B, not just checking a square.
  3. To all those who served and turned the tide of world history stamping out tyranny. Edit: Adjusted micro sized type font to something you could actually read.
  4. But she's gotta know right now....
  5. Kinda sorta related: Read in Flying Magazine years ago that some big shoe company 'bought' the tail number of some guys sailplane. Turns out the reg number was November One Kilo Echo. Guess they made it... But for $10M does that Ciation come with drinkholders on the flightdeck when you're having that Arnold Palmer with the man himself at FL300?
  6. Or at least these guys...
  7. Code 2 flyable. Foul on you for even noticing. Also, if that's secondary I don't even wanna know what the primary is. Ewwwwww.....
  8. And I don't even wanna know how/where they swiped those GTCs...
  9. Coming soon to a CGOC newsletter near you under "Best Practices"
  10. The BUFFs been around so long if you want to do something the the EXACT SAME airplane as your Grandpa did, it's the BUFF! Boeing built a damn good jet! Bet the guys who designed her never thought she'd last this long. Hat's off to all those who flew and maintained her!
  11. That and get a receipt and so you can claim it on your voucher under “entertainment expenses”. I’m sure the ‘can’t keep a Secret Service’ has a better DTS system than Mother Blue. Just don’t put it on your Gov’t travel card, so be sure get some cash from the lobby ATM beforehand. Just like going to the Lords of the Lapdance “Gentlemen’s Club” while TDY stateside.
  12. Stinks to lose a great guy like that. But then going out doing what you love beats the snot out of slowly wasting away an inch at a time in a nursing home ignored by family members lonely and forgotten. Saw it happened to others where my wife’s grandmother spent her final days. Grandma had tons of support and care but many of the others were just “warehoused” until the end. Sad. To Howard. RIP friend.
  13. Spent almost 8 yrs on the other end of the ramp from the Tigers. Great loss for the Gunfighters. Rest in Peace brother.
  14. Has to be the best free advice ever given. Second of course, as always, to "Never talk to the media" I was an NCO but the Top-3 counsel/club/group WTFever it was called was just the E version of the same thing.
  15. https://www.b17.org/tour/ Well, it would be the bar in the back.... Awesome....
  16. CGOC sounds like back in the day when I was slected for MSgt 'they' allowed us to go to the wing Top Three meeting. So I go, not knowing any better, thinking 'wow, I've made it to the big leauges' what a complete and total cluster fvck! Should have known better when the only MX guy there was a retired on active duty total d-bag nerd. Left half way through the meeting never to return.
  17. Like all of em' but 'Turnin' Final' is pretty good. Kinda double meaning; aviation and hang out for old guys who won't be flying much longer for lots of reasons. But so far "Tthe Class G Lounge" is pretty strong.
  18. OK… so after my USAF retirement I really missed being around airplanes; and I was MX, not even a pilot, so I joined the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA, the guys who host OSH each year) local chapter. No, it’s not even close to being the same thing, but an airplane an airplane so it’ll do. It just so happens that we are remodeling an old avionics repair shop in the small hangar where the chapter is located into a… err… um… “pilot’s lounge”. While 95% of the members are civilian pilots we do have a lot of vets and this room will be very similar to those “heritage rooms” seen in many USAF flying squadrons but with a more civilian/general aviation slant. The problem is we need a name and some pretty lame ideas have been thrown out with the only somewhat clever one being the “IMC Lounge” (remember we’re talking about mostly older day VFR guys here) . Mostly everyone here is pretty smart so I know you guys can throw a bone (STS) and help me out. Ideas anyone? On a cool note, in early June we are hosting a 3 day visit from a B-17. Ground tours and rides available! And yes, I’m shelling out the elephant dollars for a once in a lifetime chance to fly in a B-17.
  19. As far as LORs go, since you're an ERAU stud talk to your ERAU Campus' Director of Academic Support especially if they're retired/former military. I personally know three, now former, enlisted guys who went that route and they all got picked for rated slots both active and guard. Not saying that's what sealed the deal, but the Director could speak about both your academic record and possible potential as an officer. Can't hurt and it don't cost nothing. As always, remember; your milage may vary, check with your DAS for more info.
  20. And EAA, AOPA, CAP, Aviation Explorers, two .30-06 equipped PA-22 Alaskan bush (STS) planes and a squad of Sea Cadets with box kites... EDIT for spelling
  21. 2... big time
