  1. If this clown thing is true, any bets on how long till there's a report of one of them contracting lead poisoning? Or a the very least getting his ass handed to him.
  2. That's fucking awesome. However, with my luck it'd say "Make A-Town Great Again"... But would still wear it with pride!
  3. "Liberator II" sounds like a device for lonely ladies for use during "me time".
  4. This is the best news I've read in along time... awesome!
  5. Naw, lasers are just a space based AAA system. The Empire uses the Big Blue new weapons system procurement model; they have "SAMs" but the missiles are still in the test/development phase awaiting a software update that will be ready "in only a few years". In the mean time, "TAMI'd" Tie Fighter pilots are reassigned to Tatooine...
  6. Ten years? Where do you get that number? Given Mother Blue's procurement track record all of these aircraft/manufacturer's will be out-of-production/business by the time a contract is awarded and the first jets hit the ramp at the UPT bases. Perhaps they could time the arrival of the new jet to coincide with the T-38's 100th birthday ceremony.
  7. Yup, Holloman Services Sq needs a basketball control officer at the youth center! Oh, then there's OIC of Short Arm Inspection Section at Diego.... I'm sure the list goes on and on....
  8. Years ago in FLYING magazine Len Morgan wrote about his experience flying P-51s in the ANG post WWII. He took a job as a guard unit’s boss of the chow hall just to get a few precious hours a month in the Mustang. While Len had TONS of hours almost all of his time was in C-47s, C-54s and in his civilian airline job flying Constellations worldwide. He related that on numerous occasions while flying what we now call BFM with the unit’s other pilots he was repeatedly “waxed” by his squadron mates. He made the observation that while he was a safe, competent Mustang pilot; at the end of the day, while he flew fighters, he wasn’t a fighter pilot. He said the other guys had a completely different outlook on flying, not cocky or overly aggressive, just different, and that made them what they were.
  9. Never, NEVER, let facts or logic ruin a good protest. All that matters is the feel-good emotional investment.
  10. Holy crap! What a bunch...! Am I the only one who noticed that all the protesters with.. um... "toys" were chicks you wouldn't want to do anything with anyway? And another thing; good golly, this is TEXAS, I'm sure there have been plenty of folks secretly concealed carrying for years on those campuses.
  11. Ordered 200 patches from these guys for my EAA chapter. Great price with about 14 day turnaround. https://www.custompatches.net/
  12. Agreed. While they may not outright repeal the 2nd, they'll make it such a pain in the ass/expensive no one will want to go to the trouble. They could treat guns as a "public health" issue using the death/injury angle argument; now we're potentially under the provisions of the already in place Health Care Act. Then there's the issue of if you wanna own a gun, after you prove need, you need a licensed, inspected and gov't approved home "armory" (already been tossed around in Washington state but quickly "shot down" so-to-speak). This could get ugly, ideas all sold under the idea of "making safer communities". Heck the 1st amendment is already under attack due to political correctness and I've seen some neighborhood associations try to shut down churches saying the environmental impact of increased vehicle traffic on Sunday mornings, the "noise" (worship music, singing, preacher's sermon, etc...) had a negative effect on local quality of life, due to loss of consort, lack of sleep while trying to ward off to much Saturday night booze, conflict with the NFL schedule... the list goes on and on. The courts did however, quickly throw those suits out. But get the right political climate, judge, etc... who knows.
  13. This is a true statement, and next time around we could be facing a near peer adversary where a little airplane wouldn't be a viable option, and I understand this isn’t the 80’s or Cold War era with a near bottomless pit of money. But the need to un-fuck the acquisitions process is UFB. Whether it’s F-22, -35, little planes supporting grunts is undeniable. Perhaps if things worked a bit different perhaps we would have had a fleet of Scorpions, AT-6’s, Super T’s whatever on the ramp doing the necessary job of light CAS, ISR, or WTF ever years ago. And after 6/8/10 years they’d be all used up and shuffled with a stick up their butts to random places like your local front gate, BX, and VFW Hall. Money well spent to support the kids on the ground with rifles kicking in doors.
  14. That’s so true… On a similar note, when my son was in college he met a gal who worked the “OPS desk” for a local bible college which runs a substantial missionary aviation program. She was cranking about how she had to go to some stupid week long airshow in Wisconsin of all places! He tried to set her straight and even volunteered to take her place for the trip but no luck. Poor girl… (and yes, she worked in a missionary position… so-to-speak)
  15. It's Friday of OSH 2016 and nobody''s said anything. Did anyone make it there this year? Even vansairforce.net has been pretty quiet.
  16. Holy Hell those are like the MRE of dog food! Easy transport, storage, go anywhere nutrition and as an added bonus makes for a shiny coat and no P-38* required! *Young-in's, get an old guy to explain the P-38 reference.
  17. Negative, that social security check, as small as it'll be, could mean the difference between dry kibble and wet canned dog food in the "Golden Years".
  18. Hate the Red Bull idea as well. Maybe in the spirit of the 100th Anniversary and an airframe that launched a thousand airplanes (B-50, B-337 StratoCruiser, Super Guppy and others based on the B-29 frame) It would be cool if Boeing would step up to the plate. If it's gotta go "corporate" at least let it be it's "mother hen" manufacturer.
  19. Toast
  20. Fucking OPS checks good....
  21. Him, him.
  22. Fuuuuuuuuuuck
  23. The Sarlac Pit... isn't that a bar outside the gate at Osan?
  24. Seeing how numerous, if not all, transports got away and given the Empire's lack of forgiveness policy. I'll bet the guy responsible for running the CAP over Hoth had an interesting performance feedback session.
