There is a large block of Nav Skool (Or used to be during the intro to beeps and squeaks) where everyone spends a couple weeks in the vault studying the 3-1's of all the various airframes. Not that there is any time to really get into the weeds, it does give a good overview of the mission of each jet and how it fits into the "Big picture". It is pretty much practice mission planning for a war. As far as the different MWS's showing up with airframes, that was pretty much the same as UPT where you had set aside days where you got to talk to all the dudes who were actively Nav'in and EWO'in it up to get a good picture of what your lifestyle would be like in the different airframes.

Don't see what the problem is y'all. Just have the Engineer pass the tail #, and who cares if it's off +- 1000K when you are taking 90K?

What a great vid. Catchy tune, too.

Hey, with the new AEF cycle being six month rotations, a man has to have a dream, right? Why 'ya gotta be the voice of reason, Rainman?

So, these douche clowns are coming to my undisclosed deployed location. Any suggestions of stuff I can do on a covert op to f with them? I'd love to see something on the grand scheme of a total sound failure, or base wide power outage in the middle of their show. I'll even make it a little contest. I'll judge the winner by the number of "Likes" on their post, and if it is in within reason, myself and my covert operatives will do our best to carry out the mission selected for us. Voting closes around the 15th.

Holy shit. If you supervise LT's get those punks enrolled.

I'll bet you never use "Answers.com" or go to the freezer in your flight room to find the answers to CBT's either do you? Queep is queep. Eliminate it where you can so we can do our best to win wars by flying multi million dollar aircraft into battle. P.S. I don't consider the IDEA of a fitness standard to be queep, I just consider the current way the regulations are written to be.

Thinking of going in and creating another screen name just so I can "Like" this post again.

THIS is a huge problem today. It used to be that if it was important enough, the Air Force would set up a class taught by live human beings and you might actually learn something. Now, it just seems as if anyone and their brother can make a CBT and require us to take it and I have to spend 69 hours doing useless stuff and looking up the answers on Answers.com instead of actually doing something productive with my day.

Clovis hangar rent is around $100 a month. Talk to Carlos at Blue Sky and bring him some beer, and your fuel costs go down significantly if you pay in cash. (I didn't ask any questions and he told me no lies. ) Make friends with him first, then ask. He's a pretty cool dude. Right now, I believe there is a hangar waiting list and the airport manager is a real stickler for not allowing sub leases. (Read - dick). You will not ever regret having an airplane in order to get out of Clovis as often as possible and to all the great stuff like skiing, etc that is close enough to make into a day trip if you have a fast airplane. The prevailing VFR weather in New Mexico also makes it possible. There is an old guy down in Portales who does "Owner assisted" annuals, but unless you have decent mechanical knowledge, I wouldn't trust his work. Having the right tools and knowing the right people brings costs down significantly. GA as a whole is a very small community. You get to know the "right people" who can bring the costs down by investing time hanging out at the airport and getting to know people. Like anything else, it's all about who you know. If you are going to be the type of guy who only shows up to the airport to jump in the plane and go fly, expect your costs to reflect that.

Crap. How about a courtesy NSFW here? Gotta help a brother out to not have MEO come knocking on the door. Gonna be great to read at home, though!

A reply from a SMSgt friend of mine who I hope like hell makes chief one day. I sent him a copy of the E-9's E-Mail and asked him what his first thought was on it. This is the response I got back: P.S. He proudly wears a Maintenance badge. It seems like 99% of the problems in the SNCO corps are non-maintainers.

Hang on a second, let me check... Yup, still funny!

Has anyone else started skipping over nsplayr's eye numbing posts and simply reading only the posts around his to get the gyst? Maybe I just have a short attention span?

I gotta admit, I think she handles herself well, she does not try to pose as something she is not, and freely admits when she does not know something, and she correctly sensed when things got serious and backed down when appropriate. I think she'll be just fine. And I have not seen a picture, so if I want to fuck her or not is still up in the air. I say she's got game. Let her play. Edit: "2" on what Gravedigger said above as well.

Combat Systems Officer (CSO) info; Nav, EWO, WSO
discus replied to a topic in Combat Systems Officer (CSO)
Strange. I have heard much the same rumors from a couple of heavy platforms that they have no idea how to use a DR kit and basic navigation fundamentals such as log work have been lost in favor of a more fighter-centric way of doing things, and way too much focus on EWO tactics. Which conflicts with the reports of problems in IFF. I'm sure there will be many growing pains, and only time will tell. I just feel sorry for the studs coming out during the growing period that are taught to be a jack of all trades and master of none. It's gonna put a lot more responsibility (Read asspain) on the FTU's. -
Awesome. The world needs more:

Answer from a buddy who was an engineer at Sandia Labs. Getting around speeding tickets has become an art form for him. Edit: Bob is also the guy who flies and designed the Jet Sailplane, if you have ever seen that at airshows.
-
Correct answer should have been: "Well, Chief, if they want to do it too, they can bust their ass through four years of college, working full time, and sweating out multiple board results so that they can get an aircrew slot, and then they can do it too." (Much more effective if you have a prior E saying it)

Just got off the phone with the ex DO of the F-15 flight test squadron at Edwards. Talked a bit about Yeager, here are a couple quotes that I thought were interesting. - And then this gem: Which is interesting considering his comments about the Viper driver at Oshkosh...

#5 is off the list. #2 and #10 would probably MILF you up, and I'm guessing would be fun on a drunken one night sort of way. The rest can raise my rates any day.

FAA Shutdown So does this mean they have no governing authority during the shutdown? Also scary, other things are probably next. (Like us)
