  1. ORF's to the rescue!! They should be at the club, drinking instead of jamming up the line in the class six with an entire shopping cart full of booze where they argue with the ESL clerk about an expired coupon for $.70 off of a bottle of Jack Daniels when all I want is a @$%^# single can of Copenhagen to make it through my day. Edit: I can't WAIT to be that ORF hobbling through the class six line.
  2. To all the Enlisted and Prior Enlisted on this board who remember having a big, blue book in Basic Training where you had to identify all the major aircraft in the USAF inventory... You are correct, we did have that, as a matter of fact, I can prob scan a copy in from 1995. I do not, however, remember having anything like this in OTS. We did have some of the A/C in our "Talon", but were never quizzed on them like we were in basic.
  3. No, thanks to DTS, every C-17 pilot knows how to create his own orders, fly his/her mission, come home, fill out their travel voucher, upload their receipts, and wait 6-9 weeks to get the voucher paid by some nameless, faceless entity that may or may not exist somewhere in South Dakota, who has never even been downrange, or SEEN a C-17 in "Real life" before.
  4. Point taken.
  5. Toro; Thanks, that poster = Awesome. It went on my Face Book wall for all to see. Now, can we PLEASE change the title of the thread to read "Bagram CHOW HALL sets the fail bar"? Every time I open Baseops.net, I do not expect to see anything even remotely politically correct. My level of disappointment can not be emphasized enough. Thanks.
  6. Same here, been going on for a couple days. My error: Happened around 0013Z
  7. Noted... Just wanted to throw it out there for when they DO come around. Tell your classmates about Baseops!
  8. *Sigh* In with the save!
  9. Which airframe? What Crew Position? What base? Aaaaaaand Go.
  10. Depends on if you are Herb or Carn.
  11. Officers in any career field that is run by NCO's anyway.
  12. Much better than those posters from school of some star reading a book that say "Read". Motivating! Now where is that base library?
  13. Live life to the absolute fullest because you never know when you fasten those four harness belts if this day may be your last...
  14. THREAD REVIVAL! Who's got the video? Can you either post a link or send me a PM and I'll give my E-Mail addy? Been looking for it for a while now, and there are plenty of references, but no actual video.

    Hey everybody

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA We were sitting out on the hammerhead yesterday when this hit. Good job on the CVS weather shop for letting us know it was coming.
  16. The ragwing is not a problem, actually. Fabric is very easy to work with and repair. Besides, I picked that plane up for $20,000. Find me another 4 seat 160 knot airplane for that price. The bigger concern for me was the wood spars/wings. I inspected it very carefully for any damage prior to buying. Not really a problem here in New Mexico, but if it had been sitting in Florida or Houston for any length of time, it would quickly become an issue. I know there are some other folks here that fly for fun! C'mon, let's wee what ya got! (STS)
  17. I'll kick in to the "What do you fly" with my airplanes. #1 1947 Cessna 120. 85 Horse, 80 Kts Cruise. Great for the dirt strips and general putting around the country. #2 1982 Schempp-Hirth Discus B sailplane. 135 KT red line, great for challenging yourself against the weather, cross country racing and general bad-assedness. #3 1962 Bellanca 14-19-3A. 250 HP 160 Kt Cruise@ 12GPH. Great for getting around the country and out of Clovis with a quickness.
  18. You log "Dual Received" up until your solo, after that you log PIC time, unless of course you entered IMC during the flight, then you log "Dual Received" and "Actual IMC" time for the portion of the flight that was IMC. Also, all your I-rides under the hood are logged as "Dual received" After your I-check, you log PIC time for everything until you went to T-38's, then it starts over again until after solo... Except, of course, you were then technically "Instrument rated", so all time post solo was "PIC". In other words, unless you kept all your line up cards, a PITA and not really worth it. Go to the FSDO and get your Instrument, multi engine (Center line thrust restricted) ticket and call it good. Start keeping track of your shit. Edit: More rules
  19. "3" Not funny, but BQ NOT Herb. Unless BUFF's are somehow now Herbs? That's just unnecessary name calling.
  20. Plenty of people, I am sure. Nav Skool students, ABM's, non rates. Great way to come in and comment on a post that is five years old and show your ass. Wanna try again for a first post on the board? Edit: Now with more harsh words

  22. I'm gonna have to agree with Snow on this one. I'm sure Rainman can remember the days when once you got to base, you were "safe". The cops at the gate would stop you and make you walk to your house/dorm. Your supervisor was called, and you got a good 'ol wood shed whooping for being stupid the next day. I'm not saying this was right, but that's the way it was. I think anyone caught operating a motor vehicle while impaired should be hung by the balls/labia and then made to clean the tomb stones of every person who was ever killed by a drunk driver with a toothbrush. His whole point was that the random checks, road blocks, arrests for opening your trunk thing has gotten way out of hand. We as a country have given way too much latitude to law enforcement to deal with the DUI problem. It falls in the same area as listening devices and the John Birch Society era of rules. I had a friend of mine who got "busted" for getting a rain coat out of his trunk to give to his girlfriend so they could stand outside and get a cab home. He is still a 1LT after three years, and will remain a co-pilot for the foreseeable future with no chance of upgrade. Is this right? I sure as hell don't think so. The example at the beginning of this post was from the days when the USAF took care of its own. We can't change the world and stop the cops from arresting guys sleeping in their cars, but we can take care of our own problems internally without losing good people to a "Zero Tolerance" standard that gives no room for the assinine or constitutionally questionable laws that society deems "appropriate".
  23. Ladies and Gents, we have the very rare first post WIN! Thanks for a good story.
