Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
disgruntledemployee replied to SUX's topic in General Discussion
Downtown...It's a course for grown ups and you have to come well prepared like a grown up. It's not the first day of elementary school, it more like the final exam review and prep ride for that Sr year college class that you've been studying for. Like the other say, you're hours and experience have prepared you to fly. They spend their time (and your money) making sure you know what you need to know and that you can safely fly a twin. The last thing they want is to get a rep as rubber stampers (butters) as the FAA will clamp that down. So "Mil Friendly" to me means they understand our background, understand how we log hours, and understand our level of experience. Hoss is right. Smokin is right. Robo, give them a call. They're likely booked out to the summer. Out -
New SECAF online Town Hall Meeting today 1530EST
disgruntledemployee replied to panchbarnes's topic in General Discussion
C-130H FTU was TFI with a reserve squadron until the AF changed its minds and it went Air Guard. I guess it must be a really big issue that the SECAF needs to solve for us. Out -
Ah, the KLPs. So you think that many of us don't have the influence that you wish to get someday? Men, here's my guess. Chang volunteered for one of those exec jobs, probably above the sq level. Maybe he's on a staff somewhere and thus because of his "position" and the dude he hears everyday, he's a really swell leader. But he is most likely one of those that I mentioned earlier, a dude that knows the exec gets good paper and thus promotion and jobs. So he plays the game and drops terms like KLPs. Because this is the way he's gotten this far in the AF, it has to be the best way because he thinks he's the best. "It's never going to change, because it never should" is how we will continue to have shitty bosses and the Chang pathway will remain open. You are right though chang, the exec pathway will not change and there will always be a shoe path for you because the best will not always want it. Out

Ha ha! I caught one! Men, I suggest you turn on your Chang squelch. Elders, you know what I meant by my advice. Out

First, congrats to those that made the list. If you defied the odds by making it, remember the rule on luck and timing. The exec dilemma. Execs do learn something. First is that by doing the job, they usually get a good paper. That means promotion. The rest is politics and commander whims on why they think the way they do. But that may or may not make said exec a better leader as it depends on the person and the commander. But it is a highly successful pathway to bigger things. I say that we need to push our best people into those jobs, and if we know our best people, they usually won't want it nor like it. But if we don't, then the shoes will seek those jobs for the sake of making grade, because they suck in the plane. That is a way to get our top dudes into jobs to make the force better. So the next time you see a shoe make a dive for the job, out maneuver them by pushing your top aviator/leader into the job instead. Keep the shoes (Changs) out. And then constantly remind them to not get brainwashed. Good luck and out!

Military retirement under attack
disgruntledemployee replied to GoAround's topic in General Discussion
That tub of protein powder isn't going to pay for itself! But on the serious side, perhaps they'll restore some of the commissary budget. Nah, who am I kidding. Out -
I know a guy or two. Here are their stories. 1st, is there a unit that is willing to do this? Many are not. 2nd, for the guy I knew that did AFRC, he was retired and it took a very high level waiver (think Air Staff and up) to get him back in the game. I heard this route is near impossible. 3rd, another route I heard about is that you don't retire, but rather separate, then get hired by ANG (don't know if AFRC works on this one). You continue to accrue points for more retirement, but I think that active duty owns the retirement bill at that point. Units may not want to do this either. I don't have the facts because I'm either of these dudes. Out

Chip is a known quantity to anyone that has spent some time at the Rock. With that, its most definitely a turn for the better, but that depends on the level of lobotomy performed over the last few years. He'll champion the Herk ways and that is a big positive change from the current regime. Now if he can solve problems instead of firing people, all will be good. Out

Drone Pilots: We Don’t Get No Respect
disgruntledemployee replied to HercDude's topic in General Discussion
In some of the HATRs I've read and had to check out, some RPAs (maybe all) do not receive RAs nor do they even know if they generate one. So its not really "sense and avoid," but more like "get the hell out of my way, I'm blind as a bat and can't see you." Out -
It's a classic "oven" versus "microwave" debacle. Oh, and some general probably asked for portholes on the sides, you know, so the fellas can stick out their guns and shoot people. Not to mention the need for "sheep specs." This piece of satire is timeless, sad, and funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXQ2lO3ieBA Out

If so, then retired Gen Handy should sit in the front row of that ceremony and give him the "I'm watching you" look. Handy is like McDew kryptonite. Out

Eliminating AF Waste (Fraud/Abuse too)
disgruntledemployee replied to disgruntledemployee's topic in General Discussion
In today's posting, let's address waste, and more specifically, wasted time. Long time ago, I learned that time equals money, and that is very much true as we are all salaried employees. Every minute of our efforts costs money. With that out of the way, I'd like to bring up stuff have to do that doesn't really matter. There are plenty of AFI's etc. out there that make us do crap that doesn't matter. Take the example of getting a flight waiver for an MEL item. My vol 3 says MAJCOM/DO when I'm on the road. Couldn't we put that down to the level of say, sq/cc? See there, I just saved some general's time. Now I know they delegate that crap down, but nonetheless there is a process, powerpoint slides are made, and time is spent by many in order to allow me to fly without 2x ADFs. I could go on. Where do you all see time being wasted? Out -
He has started a fad, oh... I shall call the "Wet RIley" where an idiot "assaults" a police officer's ears with saliva'd fingers while drunk from many alcoholic beverages. Video of said maneuver is required so that we can judge the severity of the ass kicking from the receiving officer. Idiot. Out

You don't represent me. I love freedom so much that I want more than what they say I can have. I say what is on my mind and this forum is a great place for that kind of free thought. Don't like it? Don't read it! Just like I replaced your "words" with the common noise called "blah" because I didn't read it. And when people make asses of themselves, and they do, we usually do a good job of calling that crap out. If you want a non-public forum, post on af.mil. Vote with your comments and take them elsewhere. Go start your own site with the like minded and see how much fun you can have. Maybe it'll work out for you. Now get off my lawn. Out -
Looking for noise complaint letter

Our family likes Mike Rowe and it'd be cool to share a beer with him some day. His push for folks to learn skilled jobs is commendable. I'm making my kids take a few classes at the local tech school while they are in high school to learn a skill, regardless of whether they go to college. Anywhere from engine repair, construction, and welding to computer/network and culinary arts are all good things to know. Mike's response is a classic "blue collar, get your hands dirty to snooty, myopic world view" retort. I like it. Out -
And yet, with our wonderful, tip top medical system, we have our nurses contracting the disease. Our docs, nurses, and hospitals are outstanding with gun shot wounds, broken skateboarder bones and nuts, and heart attacks, but ebola? How often have they had to deal with that? Out

23 August 2014 will mark the 60th Anniversary of our mighty C-130 Hercules. Lockheed says they have a website to collect your Herk stories. I propose that if anyone has any Herk stories, post a few of them here. 10% Rule in effect unless your story starts with "This ain't no shit." Link to story with more links: C-130 Anniversary If someone doesn't like a story, too bad, piss off and go hate elsewhere. Out Edit, cause I ain't known for spellin months right.

Or how about this radical idea. If you like blues, then wear them without being told, directed, or ordered by some random day of the week, month, or period. Oh wait, that's what Bendy kinda said. Me, if its an office day, I wear the flight suit as I like feeling fire resistant...never know when one may need to egress the building because its on fire. There, I'm more safe in the flight suit than the polyester types. Out
